This is actually a remix of a Nigerian song, bolojo, by the most talented Jossy Friday, who is a contemporary of Vasco Da Gama and Y. S. Sule, all of Yewa area, Ilato, Igbogila etc.
Jossy Friday serenaded Adebutu Kessington (Baba Ijebu) nd his late colleague/partner, Adebayo Ayoku both of Face-to-face Pool in those days.
But, of course, Zeinan has done a wonderful job of it here, bringing the song closer to the experiences of Diaspora Yoruba of the Anago sect in Cotonou, France etc

I wonder what we are turning this century into as many comments I have read about this lady are referencing she is from Benin Republic. Let us get one thing straight which the Oduduwa kingdom and I believe the Ooni Oosa is aware of. She has descendants from Ile-Ife as she speaks Anago fluently being descendants of Save or Ketou. What I would expect Ooni Oosa to do is to integrate and promote Anago cultures by revisiting the kingdoms created by Seven prominent children of Oduduwa which are Onipopo of Popo, Onisabe of Sabe, Alaketu of Ketu, Orangun of Ila, Olowu of Owu, Alaafin of Oyo, and Oba of Benin. Diverse oral traditions have existed to support and refuse these claims but the Ooni Oosa can shed light into this by promoting cultural and traditional synergies among these kingdoms.

The Yoruba diaspora is deep, rich, and quite wide spread. The roots of music like salsa is traditional Yoruba bata. The religions of many south and north American people is either based on (santeria) or explicitly Yoruba. Yoruba land is spread all over western Africa and even in some parts of central Africa. We must continue to move forward proudly and learn to connect to the history and culture that colonialism tried to rip away from us. Let us no longer villainize, belittle, or compromise our beautiful and complex heritage. Yoruba-e dide♡☆♡☆♡

They were separated from their kinsmen by borders due to colonialism. The diaspora are the Yoruba people living outside their homeland, like in Brazil,. Cuba and Haiti etc.
