      Yes. My last two cars I went slow. This one is like to go all out eventually. Glad I put this on early. Think I’m going to throw one on the Pcv side too. Won’t gather as much but should help some. Especially when I get tuned and put more on her. Last two cars had dry sump oiling and I heard it’s coming for camaro in aftermarket very soon. Would a great track addition.

    Thanks for posting this. Yup, those trays are great. When ever I'm working on an older vehicle (paint not in super condition) I stick it to the lower fender area to hold lug nuts, brake caliper bolts, etc...you can stick it to anything under the vehicle too. Just remember to take it off before you drive away ;-) (I did leave a pizza on the roof of my car once).

      Yes I always saw them being used and always thought ah it’s just money not needed to be spent. But after owning I feel like it’s a must have. Nothing more annoying than looking for a bolt for hours.

    So before you put the catch can on were you going through a quart of oil between oil changes?

    • @OnlinecarshowNet1
      @OnlinecarshowNet1  4 роки тому +2

      No. That’s pretty extreme. And it’s not just oil it’s actually a mixture of gas vapors too. What you get out of can usually lighter than oil. But I will be taking off my supercharger lid next week. This car has gone 20k miles without a can. I’m expecting there to be some oil in the crevices I’ll have to clean up.

    I just remove mine today, my car is an evo x mr, it is a weekend warrior fun car with boltons, I have another car for dd, anyways I have a feeling that if you do not use your car regularly, the oil just dries on the pieces and it will not let enough vacuum build up to suck out the oil vapours, so for a rarely used sports car, that is not taken to the track it is not a must have, your money is better spent elsewhere.

    • @OnlinecarshowNet1
      @OnlinecarshowNet1  4 роки тому

      I think it depends on a lot of factors to be honest. My camaro has a ton of blowback and the can to be honest was always half full at oil changes. All that car had was bolt ons.... what’s weird is this car now is close to 800 hp with cam and ported heads, but I don’t get near the blowback on the LS motor than I did the LT motor. So I think the motor and maybe even type of injection matter. I’m no expert though. But I have seen it worse on some vehicles than others. So you might ask other EVO owners with cans how much oil they get from their can. I have always added to vehicles regardless, but will agree some vehicles I’ve had so little it was pointless.

    Not to be critical, but at 5:11, your hand covers the baffle you are describing and, beginning at 6:50, the hood darkens the area you're addressing; what happened to the light? Did you install the catch can yourself? If so, is there a video of that installation? And, in doing some research, I understand that the Mishimoto can requires the bronze baffle (in the top) to be removed periodically and cleaned (reverse blow) but you didn't mention that, so I'm wondering if it is true that it has to be removed? Wouldn't that require removing the entire assy?

    • @OnlinecarshowNet1
      @OnlinecarshowNet1  5 років тому +1

      I apologize and appreciate the criticism. Only way to improve. Yes it does require it to be removed. But you only need to unscrew the two top Allen screws to access the can and unscrew. Which gives access to the bronze plate in question and also to empty/clean the can. Ill also be honest about something I am learning over time... The plastic inlet and outlet screws are fail!!!. With the catch can be right over the headers, which is good, and generating heat. The plastic inlet and outlet screw on tubes seem to shrink or unscrew with heat. I have had to retighten 3 times in the 9 months since installing. Be so much better if they would have used alluminum or something else.

    That IS NOT a magnet in the bottom of the catch can.It is a bung,which if you replace with a threaded pipe fitting allows you to fit a oil resistant rubber pipe that runs down to the subframe.Then you fit a open/close valve on the end of the rubber pipe.Means you can easily get under the car and drain the oil straight into a container .On my car I only need to drain the catch can every 5,000 miles, so I do it while changing the oil.The additional rubber pipe also increase's the total capacity of the catch can.

    • @OnlinecarshowNet1
      @OnlinecarshowNet1  3 роки тому +1

      Didn’t know that. I’ll be honest I was disappointed with the misimoto catch can. Where it did do it’s job and I was always emptying oil/vapor trash from it; I found the plastic inlet and outlet pipes cheap. Almost like they were 3D printed. If you replaced with metal it would probably be the best can made dollar for dollar. Even a better plastic would have helped. I found after running car hard or being in hot Texas weather in summer the clamps and screw connection always were lose when hot. It would even seal back when cooling down. The plastic itself must have been shrinking.

    • @Mickyrst43
      @Mickyrst43 3 роки тому

      @@OnlinecarshowNet1 The inlet and outlet fittings are now made of alloy.You're not the only UA-camr who has mentioned the plastic fittings coming loose.Seems Mishimoto took heed of the complaint's.

The goal is to stop all, or nearly all of the ingestion, and read through this thread of a 6 month detailed test performed: www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=512223 If you would like to duplicate this test on the V8 you show, let me know and will discuss providing you with the proper system to do so for another video if you choose. You're right, the cup may be filled at 4000 miles. And note you have the can in a hot area (over the headers), which is why you had very little water in the can. Do not mount them in a cool air stream. They will fill with liquid water if not hot enough.

      @tarquineous 6 років тому +1

      Yes. I had one fill up and send oil and water into the intake. Engine would stumble and smoke. I did not know what was going on at first, then saw the reservoir was full. When I relocated the unit on the firewall, everything was normal and water would disappear after running for 15 minutes or more. A small amount of water is normal.

The fitting in the catch can are plastic, which I dont like but will see how well it works out. This also has a small recovery can. The price is some what cheaper. I think I paid $139.00 . Installs the same also.

  • @MLeung-vl7we
    @MLeung-vl7we 3 роки тому +1

    I dont know man...if it collected that much oil in such a short time, maybe there is something wrong somewhere. BTW, why would there be metal flakes? It just allows oil and water vapors to condense. Why would there be evaporated flying metal particles in the crank case. "never too late to add a catch can", "the sooner you add, the better", sounds like youre up-selling for Mishimoto .

    • @OnlinecarshowNet1
      @OnlinecarshowNet1  3 роки тому

      Honestly you check my later video after owning a Mighty Mouse catch can the mishimoto has a major flaw. The plastic inlets seem to shrink with heat. I was constantly having an issue with the seals on the mishimoto and after making it public don’t think they are fans of me currently. Inlets need to be metal... the amount of oil I was getting is pretty standard with direct injection LT motor. The LS now I have about 1/10th the oil in can. As for the metal flakes I always check and seen multiple motors that had metal flakes in oil and it does show in can when you have a major internal issue believe it or not. 🥴

    My point is, these products need to be very convenient to service.

    • @OnlinecarshowNet1
      @OnlinecarshowNet1  6 років тому

      Yea that’s my only issue with this one other than price. You should just be able to unscrew empty and put back in like 5 minutes. The way the little Allen screws are setup you can’t put too much pressure unscrewing. I may change the Allen head screws out for some good Phillips or nut headed screws. Not a fan of Allen keys in general. 😂

      No just blowback. So I guess in a way yes. But it’s naturally going to happen and especially with the LT motors. The LS motors I’ve had get a 1/10th of the oil. Everyone I know gets about the same amount. Especially if they are pushing the car. It’s an eye opener with the LTs and worst part is since it’s direct injection once it introduces the oil to the intake nothing is there to clean off the valves. Since injection happening in the cylinders.
