I was a new Officer during the 7/7 attacks on a late shift. My sister was in the area of one of the attacks, and with the mobile signals down, I had no idea whether she was alive, dead or injured. All late shifts were told by the Duty in a briefing on arrival of the late shifts that we were to protect muslim prisoners against appraisal attacks from other prisoners. It was an alarm that was going to walked to not run by Officers. The best way of keeping the Prison safe would be to either put all prisoners behind their doors for the rest of the day, which would also keep staff safe. Instead, they were allowed on their work parties and association. Appeasement, not got jailcraft.

He's such a lovely gentle, happy go lucky guy, I'm so worried for him, I can't say anything to my freind or even share this with her, she's best not knowing. Hopefully he'll be ok and realise this isn't the job for him. Our government are out of control, the sooner we're out of the ECHR the better. We're a dumping ground for hardened criminals and this hateful ideology. I believe thought hat Starmer has signed us up for 30k annually over the next 8 years! As I've said before Sam I ended up in London dispersal jails and seen this happening,I was banged up in scrubs my cell mate was a Muslim and every Friday after there service I saw a difference in him,but the worst was Camphill guys that used to talk to you suddenly stopped talking and I asked what was the problem as you do,and the told the mullah had told them they shouldn't talk to the white devil's,and the rest of the things I heard,coming from the mullahs were hard-core radically preaching turning these guys and the literature handed out scary Sam,I could never understand why security weren't on it,buy hypocrisy like you wouldn't believe thses so called converts were the biggest dealers in the jail I think the mullahs were bringing it in they got off with murder

It's time we built something like the American Supermax prison that exists in Florence,Colorado in the USA. I've watched a documentary about that prison and it makes Belmarsh look like an open prison.
A mate of mine who thought he was 'hard' joined the Prison Service & lasted 3 months. Anyone whose worked in Prisons, YOI's & Secure-Units (done the last two) know that staff levels are dangerously low & that a lot of staff are dangerously inexperienced & hopeless. I remember in one privately run (Serco) unit for kids we were told never to sanction them, for anything. FFS 😖. The result? One young lass was held hostage in a bedroom & had lighter fuel chucked over her. As the smoke started wafting out, I and a colleague smashed the door off & rescued her. Guess who got a bollocking the next shift? For damaging property? For not 'de-escalating'? Some staff in these places are like lambs to the slaughter. God Help Them.
Maybe 5/6 years ago a former Prison guard warned these people now run most prisons whilst the guards turn a blind eye to the threats, intimidation and beatings being enacted. They dont know how to control their savagery.

I'm glad I'm well out of it and pensioned off. We had IRA prisoners walking the landings at FS and that brought its own problems. At least when I was at Strangeways they were well banged up on D1.

He was batterd unrecognisable by three screws for getting a bit gobby and he was proud of it how things have changed.
