In the beginning, I found the 1512 better than the 2512. The 1512 sounded more full and darker and 2512 too bright. At the end of the video, however, I got used to the sound of the 2512 so I’m not sure anymore which guitar I like more 😅 I have to decide between an Alvarez D60-12CESHB and one of these two Guilds, so that’s why I’m checking comparisons. Thank you for the review!

I spotted the difference! One guitar is slightly darker wood.

Thank you for the comparison. Well done strumming chords in the beginning. I always thought Maple was the right thing for a 12 string as it s so bright. Rosewood can be a bit too boomy for a 12 string. I have the option at the moment to buy a 1512 or a 2512 so this comparison is priceless. Thank you.

Now THIS is a good, sensible comparison. I play the other Guild 12...D1212, and it kicks ass.

I think the F1512 sounded richer and the F2512 sounded brighter. Nearer the end of your video when you were strumming - the F2512 sounded better than I thought it would. If that's what you can afford then go with the F2512. I personally own the F1512E and find it to be warm with a lot of sustain. Of course a good guitar player will make any guitar sound good. Touch has a lot to do with it. I also own a Rhode Island made 1994 Guild D50 - although not a 12 string, it's the best acoustic guitar I've ever owned. Nothing better for me. I'm a Guild Fan - hands down.

I think if you bought a expensive one, ur going to be more biased to it, from someone who doesn’t even have a 12 string so there’s no bias, I think the f2512 sounded better. That’s just my take, obviously people have different tastes and opinions anyways

@@kachoww5981I've played a Guild F412, Martin D28-12 and a Taylor 356 ce. The F412 was used and had a good price at 1600 dollars. Great guitar. The Martin D28-12 was priced at 4000 dollars and it sounded great but I do put into consideration the law of diminishing returns. In my opinion it doesn't sound any better than a 2000 dollar Taylor, and it was harder to play. The 356 ce at 2200 Dollars, that guitar I wouldn't hesitate to own. But I do love my Guild 12 string. If all I could afford was the 2512e I would have been happy with it. If it sounds good and plays good, I'm happy. I have played 1500 dollar guitars that sound like junk. Gibson Is hit and miss for me

Really great comparison! I am just a beginner and stumbled across a 2512 at GC in the nylon string section and was really wowed by it even though I don't play that well. From this video I can see how a good player or soloist would prefer the punchy rounded tones of the 1512 but I would love to have the smooth 2512 for accompanying singing...definitely on my wishlist if I progress at guitar a bit more

Thank you for letting the guitars be the focus of the review. That doesn't always happen with comparison videos. I think I like them both equally. I'm tempted to say that the Maple sounded a bit brighter but I don't know if I'm being overly influenced by info that says Maple makes for a brighter sounding guitar. Great review and thank you.

Thanks for this review. I own the 2512 and I hesitate to go with the 1512 because of the price difference, but the sound comparison is obvious: the 2512 is very smooth and too bright, while the 1512 is more medium and 70's (the sound I like). I'll cross the line!

Glad i found this before i settled on the 2512e. The 1512 has a rich full sound which i believe is guild's benchmark in 12 string acoustics. The 2512 is thinner in resonance.

    • @leoscomputerandguitarrevie978
      @leoscomputerandguitarrevie978  7 місяців тому +2

I agree. The F2512e is a good guitar for someone to play at home and practice. The F 1512 is more full toned and the more you attack the strings, it rewards you in spades in terms of volume. I put a Knk passive pickup in mine, and I played for a Christmas concert, and I didn't have to plug in as the guitar filled the sanctuary. Love the guitar. I guarantee you will be happy with the 1512.
      I hope someday I can buy a F-512.

@@leoscomputerandguitarrevie978 Thanks. My 1512 is great but sometimes I find the high overtones to be too strong. I've had it for two years now and it might be mellowing a bit but I'm not sure. I like a mellower tone and was wondering if I might like maple better - not sure if that would be mellower or more brighter. I found a used 512e for about $1,000 less than a new one but it's online and I don't want to spend $3,000 on a guitar that I haven't played. I think I'll just stick with my 1512. Thanks for your help.

I had the F-2512e. It was loud. Only kept it a couple of years though. I went up-market for something built to last and easier to play. Had I bought the F-1512e I might have kept it longer.

My friend still has his F-2512e and he's still very happy with it. Action is still quite low and plays well. Only problem he is having now is the tuning key for the high G string gets stuck, and I had to loosen the screw to get it to turn. The high A string is very sticky as well, so the quality of the tuners are not that great. But it stays in tune and still sounds great after 2 1/2 years. My F-1512 is still a great guitar. Love the sound, yet I may need to get a setup soon as the action has went a little high on it. Thanks for watching.

Like yourself...I like the sound of both guitars. Each has a distinctive sound...I'd say it's like comparing Spanish nylon string guitars...one with spruce top versus the other with cedar. Spruce has a brighter sound with more punch while cedar is much softer...warmer with less volume...just depends on what sound you're looking for...a flamenco, heel stomping type of slap-yo-mama sound(spruce) or the warm sound(cedar) of a Spanish guitar playing a piece like "Recuerdos de la Alhambra"(F. Tarrega). The 1512 has that fuller, warmer sound...the 2512 rings out "Hootenanny"...it's party time!(Yeah...I know I'm dating myself.)😂 Both sound great!

unless your name is Gilmore, Slash, or SRV the 2512 will do just fine, just my opinion. To me, there isn't enough of a difference to justify the difference in price but, make yourself happy.

It also depends on how they are built as well. I've played some all solid wood guitars that are very stiff and don't sound good at all. Martin, Taylor, Gibson, Guild, they all are good guitars on all of their all solid wood selections. Yamaha is also very good as well. Although I have played some solid top guitars that sound a ton better than some all solid wood guitars, but it's totally a sound preference. 2 guitars could be built the exact same way and sound totally different. I played 3 Martin D28s and all 3 sounded good but there was one of them that had more bass and volume.
In my opinion in this video, the 1512 was harder to play but sounded better. The 2512 sounded decent but was easier to play. My 1512 has been setup now for easier playability. It's a very nice sounding instrument for its price

The review was interesting but not helpful to me. What the guitars sound like acoustically doesn't matter at all. What I need to know is what they sound like plugged in, using the electronics. That is what the audience will hear.
