    Just use flexible tap connectors to attach to the valves

    yes , its what we did back in the day before power flush , i never power flush as it can cause more problems than solve ,so i put sentinal in first then thoroughflush the system as i can reverse each rad several times still a good vid for diyers but guys as said above dont put it through the boiler , good tip with the hose con i use them a lot

    All that soldering. Just get two flexis, and 2 bits of copper pipe and attach the flexi to the lock shield valve. then attach the copper to the flexi, the other end of copper attach to hose pipe.
    job done.
    do this for both valves on the radiator side.

    I attach hose to a doc then put boiler in high rate , opem the doc and open the filling loop , watwr pumping round hot to free all that crao in rads and dumping thru doc , very affective and quick ! Add some mc5 before hand .

      Does it not mean any of the crap from the radiators is flowing though the boilers heat exchanger ?

    • @andrewhayes4914
      @andrewhayes4914 3 дні тому

      Yes it would the only way to prevent that happening would be to fit a magnetic fillter on the return pipe work just before the boiler and I would themes a magnaclense dispatch all the magnatite

    Add some X800 first & let it circulate for a couple of hours, then this method works a treat with improved results.
    Nice neat 10mm rad drops btw, hardly ever see microbore looking neat 🙂

    Not sure how effective approach to flush the system would be by just opening a filling loop on boiler and flushing out through drainage valve under radiator ? This is a DIY man question, I might be missing something in my understanding. Thanks

    • @Baldylocks-w2j
      @Baldylocks-w2j 8 місяців тому +1

      It would be as effective as shown in the video. Mains flushing does have its place with cleaning out new installs or recent installs. I would say using a Kamco with appropriate chemicals is better for systems really sludged up - especially on microbore, the high flow and turbulence really dislodges all the shit.

    Maybe you could use one of the top outlets on the radiator and then connect other hise to another radiator, closing one rad valve on each radiator, save taking radiator off? I have also wondered about using the filling loop under the boiler to flush system out? Anyway good video, thanks

    My hot water has stopped working and some of my radiators don’t heat at the top. I’ve tried to bleed them but some of them no air or water comes out. It’s an old system with no motorised valves and a header tank in the roofspace. I cleaned out the header tank as it was full of rusty crap. I want to try this flushing method but not sure how. And if the system is blocked or air locked will it even work?

    Quick question. Do you need to have the pump running at all, or just pet the mains pressure do all the work?

    • @wr3099
      @wr3099 10 місяців тому +1

      You don't want the pump running at all here. Probably do it damage it it was. Mains pressure is plenty to shift the crap

    • @davewright9312
      @davewright9312 4 місяці тому

      Mains pressure alone will only shift some of the crap.... When I had a recent boiler install the plumber did a power flush and as well as the power flush he used a type of rubber hammer in a sds drill to agitate all the crud in each rad.. The amount of stuff that came out was unbelievable... BTW many manufacturers insist on powerflush on new install to validate warranty@@wr3099

      @grahamshillingford8229 9 місяців тому +1

      I have an open vented system, I thoroughly clean the header tank out first & I just attach a hose to one of the lowest rads & let the water out onto a drain & it just runs through until its clear I then switch to another downstairs rad & repeat & do this to all downstairs rads until they are all clear. I open each radiator up fully,one at a time, for 5 or 6 minutes as I go along. It drains faster than it fills so I syphon more water from the main water tank in the loft... no fancy tools needed. I'll be doing it again probably late March...

    • @mmplumber
      @mmplumber  9 місяців тому +2

      @@grahamshillingford8229 if you turn off the cold feed and cap off the vent you can do it this way. Your best to force it round a circuit to make sure it gets to all rads
