    Look, I’m not a huge social media person. I don’t like commenting on things, however, this has been one of the best sources of info for this motor, and given the tragic circumstances that happened to your family, you have my deepest sympathy. I hope time has brought you more peace and thank you for sharing in this journey, both educational and personal.

      Yes time heals wounds. Basically all the things I wanted to know about this car, I had to experiment and find myself because nobody had put out any info on it. So what I found I decided to share for the few that were interested in this car and its engine. Glad you found in informative.👍

      @@RetrocarStyle I am sort of aiming for the same on mines. Not a lot of good content for proteges. Thank you bro.

      @@cmrprotege212 Yes I know. In my quest for information on these cars....I found that I had to be the scientist in order to get answers. So I decided to share what I find.

    Hey friend. Do you happen to know if the ZE head flows better since it has the motor aggressive cams? I got a jdm head out of a jdm swapped protege5 for my msp. My heads been overheated and this one seems good. Put a straight edge on it and seems good. But if the head flows better I won’t “massage” the ports any and possibly just add a 626 intake manifold. Thanks wanted to message you but it didn’t give me an option

      As far as I know, the heads are the same. I have compared a USDM head with one from my FSZE that had the failed spark plug. They both had the same casting number. The ports look the same though I noticed the JDM head has much less flashing from the casting process. Other than that they were identical. You should be able to use the head with no issues. The higher compression and flow on the ZE was achieved using pistons from the FP and the FSH9/FSD7 cams. The black box on the manifold, as I understood it, is basically there for intake pulse resonance that bounces back and forth when the intake valves shut on each intake stroke. Take away those and its a basic head. U should b ok👌

    Wish you where you California so you could build my Protege. Mine is also burning oil and thinking of having the engine rebuilt, just don’t know where to take it to have it done.

    Thanks for sharing your work! About how long should a novice dedicate to doing this process?

    • @RetrocarStyle
      @RetrocarStyle 2 роки тому +2

      Kind of hard to answer. But It took me about 1 week to finish this head. If a novice were to process a casting there could be more time involved depending on how far they would be willing to go, tuning and or targeted performance goals etc. You would also have to factor in time to repair mistakes and errors. The best answer really would be to dive right in and see what could be done satisfactorily while monitoring the time. GO FOR IT!!
