I remember sitting in my living room floor as a teen watching this like it was yesterday. We thought then it was finally over. But it wasn’t really...the repercussions have continued to be felt for decades
the usa should have never been involved to begin with dont listen to all the warmongerrs on the news. the afghan "government" is not an ally, but a leech.
“Ally” is a strong word considering most of the Afghani people were never on board with the dream of freedom. None of those who were, were willing to defend it with their lives. All cowards who weren’t deserving of any chance. The American people stayed in a a country, they had no obligation to protect or build, for over 20 years. Attempting to teach them how to defend a dream none of them believed in. The US aren’t untrustworthy allies they just no when the game is lost.
And as of 2020, Vietnam is prospering, has good relations with most countries (except China), and doesn't punish its citizens like China or North Korea. Crazy for Americans to believe, but Vietnam is open to most foreigners to visit (even Americans) and their version of communism works for them. Who would have thought that letting the Vietnamese choose what's best for Vietnam is a bad idea? I wonder if this could work for Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and other places where the USA wants to bring "freedom"?
And right after watching Ken Burns' The Vietnam War docu-series, i'm starting to have a great admiration not just to Ho Chi Minh, the PAVN and the Viet Cong but also to MOST of the American Soldiers young, old, dead and alive who fought in this war.
The US will never learn. They will constantly ude the same old "we need to bring democracy" to justify their invasions.I wonder if there are lots of people that would still buying into their propaganda
And you believe Chinese version of Socialism doesn't work for them? Is that the reason the country is prospering beyond unstoppable growth rates although the US with it's allies (5 eyes nations especially) are doing every possible ways, tricks and idea to bring them down, and admit the fact that it is too late to make it happen? Lol You make it sound like China is a failed state, whereas they're on the verge of being the sole global superpower surpassing USA in both economy and even militarily in the near future.
