As per records there were 6 Polish camps in different cities of undivided India.
Bandra-Mumbai, Quetta now Pakistan, Jamnagar of Maharaja, Walevade near Kolhapur, Arogyashala in Panchgani, Paragman Shivir now in Karachi Pakistan. Jamnagar & Walevade were the longest running camps 5-6 years..
And all this was done India herself was under Colonial Rule of British. British didn't supported but Indians did all this with their own wealth, efforts & Trust

how quickly the Polish have forgotten. The way Indians are discriminated and treated in Warsaw today is the total opposite. @@aland.3728 That maharaja had no say in allowing them in living there or not allowing them in living there. British were the ultimate authority. The maharaja later agreed because he got money feom the British for setting up schools and capms for these polish refugees. He certainly did spend some money for their food and clothes but that was it. Most of these books are bias with sugar coated words to sell the books , they don't bare any authenticity. He became famous because he did take care of them afterwards and looked after them long after 1945. Thank you for this Holocaust Refugee Odyssey story - In 1939, beginning of WWII, when Germany and Sovietunion invaded Poland thousands of children along with their parents were arested and deported from Poland to the Sovietunion. The Prisoners of War, about forty thousand polish high ranking officers were brutally murdered by Sovietunion secret service in Katyn. Many children became orphans, some were lost in deportations. Hungry, sick, frightened, they often wandered alone. During Hitler-Stalin divorce proceedings Germany invaded Sovietunion in June 1941. The Polish Exile Government in England negotiated the agreement with Stalin to build the Polish Army in Sovietunion. Hundreds of thousands polish soldiers were released from Sovietunion concentration camps to build this army. More as sixty thousands polish civilians also accompanied General Anders Polish Army to get out of the Sovietunion and were saved. At that time, the care of orphans was also organized - among the helpers was the famous pre-war polish actress Hanka Ordonówna, who was also among the deportees. The full history can be found in her book 'Exiled Children'. The first children were evacuated from the Sovietunion to Iran in the spring and summer of 1942. From the Soviet Union death camps to Iran, from there to India, the Middle East, South Africa, New Zealand and Mexico. Nota Bene, from humanity stand point, without those saved children General Anders Polish Army battle of the Monte Cassino in Italy will be only partial victory.

After Russian Armi joined Hitler in WWII and invaded Poland 1939, millions of polish families were deported to Russian Deaths Camps in Siberia. Two years later, during divorce proceedings, when Hitler invaded Stalin in 1941, those children joined General Anders Polish Army and escaped Bolshevics paradise. Unfortunately majority of Polish families and captive soldiers were murdered in Russian Gulags and Katyn prior to this escape. For those, who confused wirh title "REFUGEES FROM NAZI OPRESSION" - this video is Great Britain propaganda movies. In order to win the war, Churchill signed the pact with Diablo and promised to hide Stalin crimes.

These refugees were fleeing Poland and Russia not Nazis! These were polish catholic Christians! Even Pope in Rome didn't take them!Shame no western country would take them ! Even Brit India won't take them. Two Maharajas gave them shelter. They have to stay till WW2 was over.

Why he does not say anything about Soviet Russia occupation of Eastern Poland?! These are people who were first taken by Soviet Russia from their homes in Eastern Poland and sent to Syberian camps in 1940. Most of them are families od Polish officers that were killed by Soviets - by NKWD - in Katyn forest. It has nothing to do with German nazis! It is Russia's genocide crime
