Can someone explain to me how and why we delete the old mods when the game updates? How to I ensure that I don't lose any new mods I've downloaded? reason why you want to delete old mods is some mods will be broken due to updates. if there are no updates, than you are okay. most mods will not need to be deleted. you will just need to go to the modders website to make sure the update didn't break their mod.
@@Nardvillaini’m having the same problem too. i downloaded mccc and whenever i start the game the pop up appears telling me i have it, i have script mods allowed, but when i go into the game it’s like it’s not there?
Hm. No mods folder in the entire PC but I seen some tutorials say that you might have to MAKE a mods folder. Is the mods folder just supposed to be in The Sims 4 file or is it somewhere specific Just to note: Using the Steam version of The Sims 4
And you did try searching by typing it in within the find feature on your computer? If so, then yes, go into where EA/the sims 4 folders are and create one. If you see other folders like saves, tray, screenshots, etc - you will know you’re in the right spot to add a new folder. Call Mods. See if that works.
does this still work if you have sims through steam?? Because I have 2 mods downloaded from the mc command center and they are unziped, in the downloads/EA/The Sims 4/ Mods, and the sims settings are changed too.
It should work if you have steam. You can even use curseforge for most mods now. But if you’re manually doing it, it should work. Just make sure you enabled the mods in game settings.
I dont know what i did wrong, but i did my things there, i installed mods, but it didnt enter the game! I installed this birth mod, and when my sim went give birth, it didnt show up! Can you explaine to me why it didnt work?
No problem! But if I may ask for some help, did I happen to you too? I installed the childbirth mod by pandasama, and it was in the game correctly, but my sims couldn't interact with it, they said they couldn't reach it, if you could help me I would be very grateful!!
If it was some deleted by mistake, the game will usually add another one once you open the game up again, if not, you’ll have to maybe do a repair and it’ll add all the folders back. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work if you add it yourself. Have you tried adding a mod to the folder to see if it works?
Hello, when I opened my folder, I can't found the Mods folder. I tried to add it, my game crashes, I can't even repair the game, or uninstalls it. What should I do?
i would check to see how much hard drive space you have? sometimes when you're low on hard drive space, it might now allow you to reinstall. but you shouldn't haver to reinstall. you should be able to add a mods folder to your ea folder/sims 4/ and enter the mods folder there. first, maybe try locating your sims 4 folder.
@@PeppersVOD check to see if it's in your cloud or onedrive. i'd advise to move your folders to your hard drive. you can also search in the finder to see where you've installed the Sims 4. you can search "mods". but yeah, sometimes your files can be sent to the cloud or one drive.
How about doing a guide on where to find the best mods. I have found all kinds of information on how to add mods but not where to find them or how to use them.
im confused, I did exactly what he did with the mccc mods and it still isn't working for me, I'm on Mac as well so it should be exactly the same. but when I open the game it says I have no mods in tact
hmmm. within your EA folder/Sims folder. you should have a variety of folders like tray files, saves, screenshots, mod, etc. you'll also have other files within the folders to keep the game running. I'm hearing you can create folders but I'd suggest doing a search within the search bar if you are not able to locate your folders. Usually, your folders will be the path you installed the game.
Yeah I’ll put it in my list. But to get you started, you need to get the “tray files” of that sim. That way you’ll have all the important items from that sim or lot.
@@Nardvillain yeah I have that file but for some reason idk if I’m doing it wrong or if there is just items missing from the sim that isn’t available anymore because it never works for me and I’ve tried multiple times. My first mistake when I didn’t know how to download mods was that there wasn’t a thing called resource in my mode folder and that’s why whenever I downloaded some they never appeared in my game
did you extract it? if it's sitting in your folder as a .zip it's not going to work. did you also check your game options to make sure you have the two mod/script settings enabled? lastly, what kind of mod is it? what does it suppose to do for your game?
@@Nardvillain its the mod called run away teen, its not a .zip file its a .package it doesnt need extracting. I downloaded winrar to try and extract but it didnt work
if you're dropping files into your mods folder -- your save files shouldnt be touched cuz your save files is a folder of its own. did you mistakenly moved them?
mine just downloaded into my file. like several links into 1 file. however when i go to click on the file it says i don’t have anything to open it with. what do i do?
what's the extension of those files? .rar? .zip? .package? .script? if they're .package adn .script, put those in the mods folder. once you're in the game, they should work.
once create the folder. exit the game and back and see if the folder still exisit. it should. if not, maybe a repair will work. also -- when installing mods, make sure the mod you are installing is a .package or .script file. that's the only extensions the game will be able to read.

@@Nardvillain Eh haven't played in a while. The new update required me to put the mods in more than one folder. Is this the same case for you? Either way am good. Was just disappointed because my mods were organized from head acc down to shoes, even separated by gender.
what I typically do is move all my mods outside of my EA folder and update them accordingly. i usually create a new save file and just play in that until my mods are good to go. that way I dont screw up any existing save files that relied on my mods.@@HanselAlib
So i just downloaded the hopes and fears mod. Inside the official "Mods" folder i created a folder called "Hopes and fears mod" and unzipped the mod right there. Now... inside the zip folder there are folders... and inside them there are some files and some MORE folders. AND MORE FOLDERS INSIDE THOSE. what should i do? just leave it like that? put everything out in a way that there are no more folders inside the "Hopes and fears mod" folder..?
i would try to keep all the folders within 2 sub folders. the deeper you go into folders, the mod might not work. also, i wouldn't keep the zip file in the mods folder. i usually download the zip files ot mhy download folder and extract them there. from there, I usually just copy and paste them into my mods folder to ensure I don't have any weird files in my mods folder.
I would go to trusted modders websites. if you're on pc, you can download an app called curseforge. it has all the trusted mods within their app. I don't have it because i'm on mac and it's still i beta version...i think. you can always google/youtube simmer's favorite mods or google it. usually the big ones will pop up and they have their own website. i'd go to the modder's website for sure. I like to stress that out because the modder's website will have the most updated version of the mod as you will occasionally need to check their website for updates.

Hello, I have a question. When I downloaded the mod, it goes into my game, but only shows up as custom content. I put it in my mods folder though so did I do something wrong orrrr?
what computer do you have? you should. If you're on mac, all you have to do is double click on the zip. Also try that with your windows pc. you might be able to unzip the file just by double clicking. you can get a free zip file for windows like winzip. Do a quick google search. Zip files make the files safe and compressed down for file transfers.
Its not working at all, I have the scrip mod thing enabled aswell as the other stuff. I may not be good at stuff like this but i just dont know how to do it
most mods come in a compressed folder that you will have to open. think of a zipped file like a treasure chest. you have to open it in order to get the content inside it.
all the mods i have downloaded are not zip files and every video ive seen says its going to bea zip file i was just wondering what it is i have done incorrectly
@@Jessie0Alice glad it worked! most mods should come as zip files that you have to extract. most CC doesn't come as zip files tho. they usually are downloaded as .package or .script -- some creators will zip them. i prefer that method as well. i usually put my CC I offer into zip files for security/safety purposes.
You have your mods enabled? There’s a setting in game options that should be on demos your mods to work. Also make sure you extracted the zip file before dragging it into your mods folder. Should only have .script and .package files in your mods folder

when i installed my game i was able to find like this: Documents/Electronic Arts/the Sims 4/Mods. If you can't find it. try searching for it in the find or search bar. maybe search "the sims 4" or "mods". that's assuming you don't have other folders titled "mods" or "the sims 4". mac has a great search system, IMO.
Your mods folder is separate from your save files, trays, screenshots and all other folders. so if you're downloading mods to your download folder or where you set the path to your download, you should be able to extract and just copy and paste. if you're having issues with that mod, I would make sure that mod is up to date. also -- if you're on PC, you can download CurseForge and it'll help you with mods and such.
Is the mods folder just supposed to be in The Sims 4 file or is it somewhere specific
Just to note: Using the Steam version of The Sims 4
And you did try searching by typing it in within the find feature on your computer? If so, then yes, go into where EA/the sims 4 folders are and create one. If you see other folders like saves, tray, screenshots, etc - you will know you’re in the right spot to add a new folder. Call Mods. See if that works.
@@Nardvillain I did have an electronic arts folder with The Sims 4 there but I had to make my own mod folder. After that everything worked fine
does this still work if you have sims through steam?? Because I have 2 mods downloaded from the mc command center and they are unziped, in the downloads/EA/The Sims 4/ Mods, and the sims settings are changed too.
It should work if you have steam. You can even use curseforge for most mods now. But if you’re manually doing it, it should work. Just make sure you enabled the mods in game settings.
@@Nardvillain i can't make mutple mods folders, i have 3 mods in my Mods folder, is that too much? also i downloaded the files through curseforge

When I gone into the game files I had to manually create a Mods folder, is that bad?
@Nardvillain Thank you, it works now. But I face another issue when the mods not showing up, although there's already recource.cfg

do you still need the packs if u have the mods?
How about doing a guide on where to find the best mods. I have found all kinds of information on how to add mods but not where to find them or how to use them.
I don't use a lot of mods so this could be helpful for me to expplore new mods and do a review! maybe Illl consider that!! good idea!!

im confused, I did exactly what he did with the mccc mods and it still isn't working for me, I'm on Mac as well so it should be exactly the same. but when I open the game it says I have no mods in tact
Do u need a disc or do u just download the game because I’m getting a pc for my birthday to play it?
You can download the game through origin, EA app or steam. The base game is free.
So I don’t need a disc cause I was gonna download mods I didn’t know if I need a disc or not?@@Nardvillain
I’m having trouble doing this still even with the video. All of my files say exec in them and won’t let me change them
hmmm. within your EA folder/Sims folder. you should have a variety of folders like tray files, saves, screenshots, mod, etc. you'll also have other files within the folders to keep the game running. I'm hearing you can create folders but I'd suggest doing a search within the search bar if you are not able to locate your folders. Usually, your folders will be the path you installed the game.
Thank u its been a while since i modded sims 4 after i had to reset my whole computer due to complications. Apreciate it being short and simple!
you're welcome! anytime!!
can you do a video on how to download other peoples sims with their cc content?
Yeah I’ll put it in my list. But to get you started, you need to get the “tray files” of that sim. That way you’ll have all the important items from that sim or lot.
@@Nardvillain yeah I have that file but for some reason idk if I’m doing it wrong or if there is just items missing from the sim that isn’t available anymore because it never works for me and I’ve tried multiple times. I didn’t know how to download mods either but yesterday I did and I understand how to do that but downloading other sims? It’s so confusing. My first mistake when I didn’t know how to download mods was that there wasn’t a thing called resource in my mode folder and that’s why whenever I downloaded some they never appeared in my game
I put the mod in the mods folder and its not in game.
did you extract it? if it's sitting in your folder as a .zip it's not going to work. did you also check your game options to make sure you have the two mod/script settings enabled? lastly, what kind of mod is it? what does it suppose to do for your game?
@@Nardvillain its the mod called run away teen, its not a .zip file its a .package it doesnt need extracting. I downloaded winrar to try and extract but it didnt work
when i open the game and check my mods folder in game my downloaded mods show up but when i try to play none of them are in game
did you make sure the script mods settings are enable in game options?
I did this and now when i open sims none of my saved games are there :/
if you're dropping files into your mods folder -- your save files shouldnt be touched cuz your save files is a folder of its own. did you mistakenly moved them?
mine just downloaded into my file. like several links into 1 file. however when i go to click on the file it says i don’t have anything to open it with. what do i do?
what's the extension of those files? .rar? .zip? .package? .script? if they're .package adn .script, put those in the mods folder. once you're in the game, they should work.
Can you be able to do this on windows to?
yes
I watched the video, but i don’t have in my sims folder any folder that says mod and when i create one doesn’t appear anything on the game 😭
once create the folder. exit the game and back and see if the folder still exisit. it should.
if not, maybe a repair will work. also -- when installing mods, make sure the mod you are installing is a .package or .script file. that's the only extensions the game will be able to read.
I have a problem, im playing from steam and i cant find the mods folder in electronic arts. Its not showing the sims folder inside electronic arts either, any solutions?
are you able to search it on your desktop? do you have a search bar?
i use steam vers, idk if that makes any difference since there is no "mod" folder...
hmmmm. maybe try searching for "mods" on your computer. see exactly where the game was installed to
Hey it says that MC command center part of my custom content but when I click on a computer in my most recent household, nothing shows up. Any advice?
Are your mods enabled? Did you make sure you have the most current version of the mod?
What do you use to open the rar packages? I’ve never been able to figure that out
I had to download a rar extracter cuz the zip extractor that's already on my mac doesn't work for .rar files
Okay thank you
It shows on the mod list but not on the CAS when I edit Sims. What do I do? They're just clothes and accessories. :(
is the mod you wanted to use up to date? what mod did you add? what is it suppose to do in CAS?
@@Nardvillain Eh haven't played in a while. The new update required me to put the mods in more than one folder. Is this the same case for you? Either way am good. Was just disappointed because my mods were organized from head acc down to shoes, even separated by gender.
what I typically do is move all my mods outside of my EA folder and update them accordingly. i usually create a new save file and just play in that until my mods are good to go. that way I dont screw up any existing save files that relied on my mods.@@HanselAlib
If you download mods and want to turn them of how do you do that
if you dont want the mod, you can delete it from your mod folder. if you dont want any mods, you can go back into game options and unable script mods
I'm new to the PC and Sims Game and I wanted to try to try to Mod my game what websites are safest for picking up Mods?
I would go to trusted modders websites. if you're on pc, you can download an app called curseforge. it has all the trusted mods within their app. I don't have it because i'm on mac and it's still i beta version...i think. you can always google/youtube simmer's favorite mods or google it. usually the big ones will pop up and they have their own website. i'd go to the modder's website for sure. I like to stress that out because the modder's website will have the most updated version of the mod as you will occasionally need to check their website for updates.

what computer do you have?
I may not be good at stuff like this but i just dont know how to do it
which mod did you download?
I don’t know what a zip file is can you please explain?
most mods come in a compressed folder that you will have to open. think of a zipped file like a treasure chest. you have to open it in order to get the content inside it.
all the mods i have downloaded are not zip files and every video ive seen says its going to bea zip file i was just wondering what it is i have done incorrectly
nvm! i take it back tysm it actully worked
