Yes, I believe you are able to just file for an EI N, and then do an LLC later. Just make sure to do your research at irs.gov and make sure you can do what you want.

Make sure you’re on the official irs.gov website if you’re wanting to do it for free route. There’s a lot of companies that will help you with the process and that can be helpful but if you just need a simple EIN usually going through the irs.gov website is the simple and easy route.

If it’s the document, they send you, then you’re the one who’s authorized to open it from my understanding. Definitely do your own research on irs.gov.

So my background is no good I’m a felon and I watched a video that says you can use your EIN instead of your SSN and it won’t show up on your background and most likely will get the job is this true?
I’m not sure how exactly it works, but being upfront and honest with your employer is probably the best way to go. Obviously a felony doesn’t look great on a résumé, but if you’re honest about it, hopefully they would be willing to give you a chance. You might have to start with a job that’s not as desirable, but hopefully if you have solid references and past job experience, it will overshadow the felony, even though it will still show up. Anyways, I hope you all the best and don’t give up.
