I remade this video now that homestuck is over! By the time it's done uploading, it's a little past 4/13 here, but it's 4/13 somewhere still, right?
I didn't think I would actually do this, since I haven't thought about homestuck in a long time, but once it started updating again I got sucked back into it and started working on it.
Thank you for all of the nice comments and messages the previous video had. Every time I see someone say they got into Homestuck because of it, it makes me so happy. Thank you for all of the good memories, and thank you to Hussie for making such an incredible comic!
Edit: And thank you for all of the sweet things you guys have said for this video, too! I'm happy I've gotten to make something that shares everything that I love about this comic, and I'm always touched when I hear how it has reached out and affected many of its readers.

Eight years, I can’t believe it has been that long since Homestuck first came out. It really has been a long time and we have been through it all. This comic has shown happiness, sadness, comedic moments, moments of terror, bravery, cowardice, love, hate, and friendship. It’s taught us that even someone that is so ordinary can be very important, and that it’s ok to grow up, and even then we won’t stop growing. That some challenges ahead of us can seem impossible, but we can overcome them.
It has been a fun, interesting, funny, and even tear jerking ride with John, the Beta, and Alpha kids, alternian and beforus trolls, the exiles, Hussie with his self inserts and every other chatacter in homestuck. This webcomic and fandom has really come a long way, and it is always interesting and memorable when we can all look back, and just see how far we’ve come.

I come and rewatch this every year and it makes me cry every f u c k i n g time I remember in 2015 when my cousin showed me homestuck and got me obsessed and he dragged me to a con in his Karkat cosplay and his shoved me in a Dave cosplay and I had the time of my life I’m definitely gonna get my ass out to a con when I can just so I can be a cursed af Aradia as if she isn’t already cursed

I had joined the fandom nearly a year after it ended, and I do regret dodging the comic during it's production because when I first saw it I'm going to be honest I was scared that I wasn't understanding it. After forcing myself to read it I got more interested to the point where I've fallen in love and finished shortly after last 4/13.
This is my official 4/13, and I'm glad to be a part of the Homestuck fandom.

I feel so similar to John when he asks, "Can you tell me what was ever really special about me all this time?" I can relate to so many lines in here. I just moved recently, and so I was telling my friends, "Now I wonder what my life is gonna mean if you're gone." And since my best friend's favorite song is this, she was like, "Dude, you just quoted Let's See How Far We've Come."

i wish i could have found it earlier. i feel like our fandom will never be what it used to be.

+cane saya English is most likely dead. I mean his sister showing up was supposed to mean his death. That was the point of her walking the Path of The Martyr. Also, the beta humans were supposedly released from the Humstuck Juju and, that thing was supposed to be his weakness. I also think his eyes stopping at 8 was symbolic of his immanent death, but yeah. It would have been nice to actually see him get defeated. like Dave comes out and cuts his head off with that legendary sword or something.

Thanks so much for doing an upd8ed version! I've always thought it's funny that one of the most famous videos in the fandom only covered up to the exact midpoint of the comic (up to Cascade), but now this is perfect. One of the reasons that I've been so excited about the end is that people can finally make Homestuck AMVs with the full breadth of flashes for the whole thing, and here's the first one I've seen!
+LeonardMeltsner That's mostly due to that era being around the time Homestuck was most popular. After the midpoint climax, with new characters and huge pauses and questionable narrative decisions and such, the number of people actively participating in the fandom dwindled greatly.

I remember watching the original video four years ago when I started to get into Homestuck and loving it. It's awesome that it was tweaked to include the final parts of Homestuck while retaining the original sentimental value that most of us originally watched. Very well done, I love it.

as a newbie fan, im hitting all my 4/13 requirements. what a fantastic video even today. i may have never been into the fandom during its glory days and the fandom is a wasteland, i still feel like im part of something big watching this nd many other videos even though the state of the fandom is almost nothing at this point.

In a few days 2018 is going to end and 2019 is gonna start, but this song (and this video) reminds me that I've lived up to this point in my life and that I used to think about the same thoughts I'm thinking now years ago. At that time I was in a very tough position in my life and Home stuck came to me to show that there's more to come. Now I might be in a tight but very similar spot and those dark ideas are coming back, however I've come so far since *that* year.
...let's see how far I've come then.

I think this video has somehow become more relevant with time as the real world seems to come to the end 2009-2016 looking like some of the greatest years of all time homestuck being not just a phase but a years spanning phase defining a generation with new content and people still making stuff and joining this simple edit of a really unique webcomic set to a cool song has some how evolved into the video I want to see during the heat death of the earth and brings me to tears every time I see it thank you artisticzurite and thank you homestuck and thank you homestuck fandom
I love how Karkat is the last one to say "well I believe it all is coming to an end" because at one point in a dream bubble he asks meenah "SO THIS IS REALLY IT, THEN. THIS US WHERE ITS ALL GOING TO END FINALLY?"
