    Hello! In our school danish teachers says that pronouncation is more important than grammar, but I don't agree i think when people start to study language they need a lot of grammar. And pronunciation we can correct on level B or even C. What do you think?

    • @Danishmastery
      @Danishmastery  7 років тому +8

      To me, that's a classic example of black/white thinking. The answer is, you need to do both. What you do, is you start out with basic, simple phrases and you learn them well, so you both master the pronunciation, as well as you understand the grammar behind them (How much grammatical understanding you need, depends on how your brain works), so you learn both aspects at the same time. Of course, it is difficult to learn this without a teacher, but ideally, you should be getting a basic pronunciation and basic grammar down, both at the beginning. Then, when you get to a somewhat higher level, you can choose to focus more specifically one on a more narrow area.
      As a teacher, it has often been a frustrating and difficult experience to teach those students, who only has focused on one thing in their learning - whether it's pronunciation, grammar or vocabulary.
      Try and give attention to all aspects, and what works best for you personally, you'll obviously choose to do more of.

      Lisa, as a linguist I applaud your efforts to learn Danish, which is not an easy feat. Yet, remember how you learned your native language. Every time you said some word incorrectly at your age of 3-4-5, your parents\caregivers would correct you right away. Or else, no one would be able to understand what you were saying... That's what parents do, right away. Well, this is what your teacher at school is doing. Or else you will learn an incorrect pronunciation. Let's learn to pronounce "ægte kærlighed" correctly so we can find it in Denmark... How's that, min ven. After that the rest should follow easily :)

    • @enhjrningenensom3975
      @enhjrningenensom3975 6 років тому +4

      Lisa, well, no. As a linguist I can tell you that pronunciation is possibly the most important thing. If you learn the word incorrectly, it will stick with you. So it is better to follow what the teacher says right away.

    • @JBurright12
      @JBurright12 5 років тому

      Lisa Noye Danish is my fifth language. Grammar means nothing except sentence structure which you pick up with enough practice and listening anyways. No offense but I’m guessing if that’s how they feel they have never learned a language in 3 months like I have 3 times now by being immersed and listening to videos like this for 2 hours a days. Listening is the most important skill. Then building the phrases that you will need on a regular basis first. “I need, where is, I think, which, why ,who, where, how do you say , how long, what is your name.... etc.” then go from there. If you have more questions message me on insta @always_loading

    Hej. Hilsener fra Australien. Jeg blev født i Australien, og jeg bor i Australien. Engelsk er mit modersmål. Jeg kan tale dansk. Jeg er sytten år gammel. Jeg beslutter i øjeblikket på hvilket sprog jeg skal lære. Mit følgende valg er tysk, italiensk eller hollandsk. Jeg vil lære italiensk fordi min familie er italiensk. Jeg vil lære tysk fordi jeg begyndte at lytte til en musikalsk gruppe kaldet Rammstein, og det inspirerede mig til at lære tysk. Andre ting inspirerede mig til at lære tysk. Jeg vil lære det hollandske sprog, fordi jeg er venner med to personer, der er hollandske.

    Hvad er forskellen mellem "tabe" og "miste"?

    • @Danishmastery
      @Danishmastery  7 років тому +2

      Tabe roughly translates to "Lose" or "drop", so like when you lose a match/bet, or you drop an object.
      "Miste" is like you lose possesion of something, so that it is no longer yours.

      The most scaring thing, in my opinion, is not only achieving a proper pronunciation in Danish but being able to comprehend others when they speak. The language sounds pretty unique (I love it) but when it comes to "real comprehension" (...you know...) is not always fun that words fade inside the throat :)
