Thought I’d found a new channel but it’s you Bruce, fantastic to have you back producing videos. That’s a nice old machine, deserved a clean and polish
Wow haven't seen one of those mowers in years.... Nice job Sir. Got a new customer, he brought me his father's, who passed away last year, John deere js63, first it didn't start, briggs quantum with auto choke, the carb was clogged, so fix that and got it to run like new with a good hot ultrasonic carb cleaning, changed the oil, new air filter, sharpened and balanced the blade, had it running moving like new, he took it home, and mowed half his yard and it quit on him, he brought it back, and I found 2 issues, count em 2.... LMAO..... One was the coil was going out, and get this, the gas cap he had lost the silver cup on the cap which made a vaccum condition and no gas was refilling the bowl too.... Crazy, but now all fixed.
Nice video Bruce. First time I've seen a cvt like trans on a push mower. Very Interesting. I see you have lots of comments saying it's great to see your back. Well, I'm glad to see your front too, lol! Seriously though it is great to see you back.
Hi Bruce!! Welcome back. It's great to see you! I hope you and Mrs. P. had a nice summer. It sounds like your company was the victim of the same disease my company caught...the far east country impactidis! Glad you are back and producing videos....here's to snowblower season. Only 204 days ( as of 8/28/24) until spring 2025!
Hi Bruce I was thinking about you the other day and thinking I hadn't seen your videos in a while and then Frank's birthday party popped up on my mind and so then I see you had one this morning.😂
It's good to see you back Bruce. I thought you ran off and joined the French Foreign Legion! Lol. That mower looks to be of good quality and should last another decade or so. The deck looks like they copied a snapper mower. 👍📽🇺🇲
Hey Bruce, I remember my dad having a 5 hp quantum when I was small back in the early 90s. I helped hand him tools when he worked on it. It also had that splined shaft. I also remember that its ultimate demise was that eventually the splines stripped off the crank causing the blade to never spin up and it would just sit there making a horrible grinding noise. I'll never forget that terrible sound it made when it happened.
How's she goin'? Some nice to have you back on Bruce, I missed ya buddy!! These old quantum engines are some nice. They just keep on working. You did a nice job getting the drive to work again. A little grease and all's well. Thanks for posting and take 'er easy!
That machine will continue to outlast today's machines! Sometimes, you just need a little lube to get things moving again. Glad to see this ole one stayin alive still. I just got an old Snapper (I think) in as a trade with a (assumed) seized Wisconsin Robin engine. First one of those engines I've gotten, but unfortunately, it seems like it might be destined for the scrap yard.
Good to have you back Bruce 👍👍
Wow Thanks Claus. It has been a long summer.

My 1983 Toro just starting knocking 😢 Techumseh motor !
First thing I would check is the flywheel key. Tecumseh engines us a softer key, they move a bit changing the timing.

Patient subs never leave. They’ll wait. Welcome back. I too favor the quantum engines.
I agree on both statements.
Ahh yes. The good old quantum. One of my favorite Briggs engine next to the opposed twins.
Right. They are both great.
