Great question, but I was on a few different setups in various clips. Most of the time I ride either a 44L or 30L Axis Pump board. I ride the Axis Ultra Pro Mast and typically ride Spitfire 900 or 1030 or the Art Pro 1201 or 1401 foils. I always ride a Skinny 358/35 tail. I weigh 84kg. I am on a Foil Drive Gen2 Max with a three blade Prop using the Max Power battery. 🤙

Depends on the waves. Generally, you will be able to go down smaller in size as you get better and are able to use the waves to get on foil. I would start with the smallest or the 2nd smallest foil you use in the flats. My 1030 is my go to in the flats on the 44L but the 1201 is the wing I use on the 33L if I don't know if their will be waves. I have to size up on less efficient boards.
I thought about this question a bit more. I think I might dedicate a full video to the topic. Chosing the equipment for wave riding is not exactly an easy subject. Skill and body weight are as important and foil size, board shape, foil A.R., and board volume. I try to strike a balance with all these to match my energy level and difficulty of the day.
great vid. what height mast are you using most?
800mm is my go to. Love the Ultra Pro from Axis. It is a luxury. I have a collection of masts that are collecting dust after getting this one. No other mast is a reasonable substitute now that I have it.
Which cable is best for learning? I have a 25 cm but I read a 15 cm would be better for learning ride waves because you have more mast space to go off motor.
The 25cm cable is much easier in chop and forces you to learn how to ride with the foil near the surface in order to keep the motor out. The 15cm will let you drop lower without dragging the motor. I prefer the 15 or 20cm and both have their advantages. It is more technical to ride a 15cm in small chop. 🤙
What about an emergency locator? Is there a device, I can wear while offshore, that can transmit my location, [in case of emergency] that will lead rescuers directly to me? And lastly, are they reliable?
