BTS releasing a song about how an artist losing his passion is worse than death in their 7th year in the industry shows how genuine their love for music is. This whole comeback clearly wasn't made with breaking records in mind (even if they did pull out mind-blowing numbers anyway), it was about celebrating art in its many forms. For the making of the album they worked with many different artists, the marching band of 'ON', the choir in 'Friends', and now this dance company. They released 'Black Swan' as a single a month before the album and this was the MV that was released first. I do think that they truly wanted to spotlight these amazing dancers. I also want to highlight something : they released 'ON Kinetic Manifesto' the day of the comeback, and a few days later they released the official MV of 'ON', not caring if it was going to impact the views on the first 'ON' video. And a few days later again they released another video for Black Swan. I want you to understand that this isn't normal, this isn't common to release 3 MVs during comeback week. They also released the 'Shadow' and 'Ego' MVs. They didn't care about the views or money or whatever, they only cared about their work and art. I think that it's quite amazing that they did this knowing that they wouldn't get as many views as usual. It doesn't surprise me though, after years with them I've witnessed many times how passionate they were for music. I'm so proud of them and I'm really learning a lot about music besides them. I just wish more people would recognize that they are far from your typical boy band or even typical artists. They do this out of passion, which is not that common nowadays in an industry run by money, clout and mediaplay. I'm hoping that their music will get the recognition it deserves and that they will also get credited as the amazing songwriters, producers, singers, rappers, dancers that they are.
this comment deserves way more likes
Omgg!!!!💜💜💜
I changed my mind about views in youtube. And I will learn not watch views in mv, and just relax? Ahaha
And when armys said that we should reach 700m(? I dont remember but it was really high) and i was like
I understand that you trying to show your love and etc but relax and enjoy music. We don't need break records, cause we are only one who can break them in the world💜
well said :3
couldn’t have said it better myself 💜
I personally really adore the orchestral version it gives off a bit more of a sad vibe which makes the message of this song even more clear.
I agree
Yes :')
What is the message?
L
Blinkhere the message is that bts are afraid to lose their love of music, and therefore not able to continue through this path. The message just doesn’t apply to them tho, it can happen to anybody who has a passion for what they do.
the most grammy worthy song i've EVER heard. from the lyrics to the music to the raw PASSION and PAIN that drips from this song. got me feeling some things fr
But unfortunately never won a single award :) this hurts so much tbh
Grammys are a joke
Grammy is racist , they wouldn’t let Korea band win
LITERALLY ITS THE BEST SONG EVER

This was one of the most extraordinary moments in BTS' career, and it was game changing. No Kpop group had ever done anything like this, and it was glorious. I miss them and can't wait to see what else they have in store for us when they all get back safely from the military. Black Swan is a classic and this art film and their MV were both wonderful.
The fact that the orchestra version of black swan is not on Spotify is a crime
Aysha Huma the biggest crime
100% true
I know right! I hope Big Hit releases the orchestra version someday. Maybe BTS could perform with this version. Ideally during the MOTS tour because I really want to hear it in a stadium, but I know that's definitely asking for too much lol
RIGHT?! This version hit hard and I fell in love with it and it makes me sad that I can’t listen to it on Apple Music

this version of black swan is seriously the peak of bts's artistry! this was so surreal and it is still as impactful as ever!
How does BTS have so many amazing, heart wrenching songs? I don't get tired of this. I think 50 years could pass and I'd still be here.
100% true
I used to be a dancer but I can't dance anymore because my arthritis makes it too painful and I'm currently getting evaluated for early onset Parkinson's Disease because I shake alot. Black Swan is heartbreaking because they hit the nail on the head, this is exactly what it feels like to not be able to do what made you passionate anymore. My 1st death truly was when I stopped dancing and honestly I don't think my next death will be as heart wrenching as grieving the person I was when I was enveloped in passion and love for dance.
Wishing you massive strength. Sending you light.
I don't know what else to say, except sending all the strength your way
As a dancer, reading this hurt me. I am deeply sorry and wish you all the strength and passion in the world.
I pray for your complete recovery, healing, and health! Lots of love, strength, and light to you!
I wish you nothing but peace, love, and healing moving forward, friend. It isn't quite the same, but due to mental health problems I've been unable to pursue my passions since around my early 20s. So I understand the pain of not being able to be the person I was when I had my passions. I hope we can both heal in time. 💜
Black Swan is a classic example of "do not judge BTS by their title songs."
Its funny how their best hits are not even their best songs.
Yes 👏 Their b-sides are the créme de la créme of BTS' discography!
Believe me all groups b-sides songs are 100× better than their title track...
Exactly my point why their other MVs rather than DNA and IDOl
Have more views....

BLACK SWAN DESERVE A GRAMMMY
the dance is so powerful. MN Dance Company, thank you for giving such a phenomenal performance! It is super not easy and could be dangerous to performance in a venue like this with bear foot. somehow i still see little rocks on the floor. This performance, omg... it translate the message so well. the struggle, the resist, the change. At the end became like the king of the swan. I love it. This is beautiful.

I'm not a dancer, but I can't not to cry everytime i watch this. This performance and song resonate with me a lot more than all people in my life.
For some reason, I really felt the song and the message there. I listened to the song a lot but now it hits me. Losing your thing, how terrifying and empty you feel although you can't do anything about it. I lost interest in my passion when I had my burnout and depression and I feel empty and changed from no longer being able to live it and spend time on it, dedicate my soul to it. It is an excruciating silence in your life....
Hugs 🫂 I hope you ate finding your way back🥰💜

100 percent CORRECT
I still can’t believe BTS musical diversity and their level of artistry. They’re so complex. They don’t treat the music industry as a way of making money, they don’t try to release music just for the sake of releasing. Each song and lyric that is shown in front of their listeners/viewers is so well prepared, picked up with such a meticulous care. You can hear and feel their love for the music.
Discovering their music is such an interesting ride. You don’t get bored at all with their sound and story.
I wish more people could give them a real chance and listen closely to what BTS wants to delivers to the entire world.
Absolutely right... One of the biggest reasons I became an Army

We want this masterpiece on Spotify!!
Someone interpreted the dance like this:
“You can see in the beginning how he tries to stretch his wings and fly...but the shadows retaliate and begin to kick him down. He tries to escape, but they refuse to let go, pulling him back into their embrace to torment and consume him.
Suddenly, panic overtakes him and he breaks free.
He refuses to let the darkness suffocate him so he shuns them, throwing them back each time they come for him until they're gone. He's finally free.
He begins to stretch his wings again but nothing happens.
The shadows are gone, yet he is still unable to fly. Why?
Were they not the ones smothering him? We then see it dawn on him that he cannot do this on his own.
He goes back to face the darkness. They once again throw themselves at him, trying to suppress him and at one point, they threaten to completely devour him, but he throws them off and this time, he takes control of THEM.
You can see that now when he begins flexing his wings, the shadows mimic his movements as opposed to fighting him. The scene ends with him stretching his wings and the shadows lifting him up, allowing him to finally fly.
The darkness that he had fought and run away from so vehemently, was in fact the very force he needed to succeed. The entire performance perfectly reflected the message of this song. We cannot run away from our shadows.
We must learn to accept them, make peace with them, and realize that they are often the driving force that propels us forward."
Knowing the lyrics just made this performance all the more powerful and moving for me, personally. I hope more people can appreciate this masterpiece. It deserves more than a quick once-over.

No other songs can beat THIS. I feel sorry for people who doesn't understand the magic behind this boy band. They truly one of a kind. Every time I listen to this, I feel some type of way. The dancers have portrayed the emotions so perfectly, the lyrics about the fear of losing passion for music and the song itself is a masterpiece. Now I understand why people think BTS isn't just a typical boy band, they're more than just handsome guys who can sing and dance, wear fancy clothes and colorful hair. This is some real musician stuff here. I hope people understand that BTS are where they are today is not because of their popularity but their love for music and what they do. The only thing their popularity did was to help getting recognized by the world. If only this song was released on the music platforms, this song would probably be the perfect candidate for SOTY.
The Best Comment Award goes to YOU💜
You wrote such a masterpiece! I don't really understand why people always judge the picture before getting deeper. This group has such an insane popularity and loyal, hardworking and uncondicionally loving fans not only for their handsome faces and catchy dances. People must be more respectful and kind to others, because this undeserved hate that they give to those, who becomes a true remedy to millions around the world, is such a useless and unworthy timespending

spring day says yo
When people say that BTS songs are now boring I listen to this song and I don’t get what their talking about
the sea that they wished for is now full of dark waves consuming them except they have the strength and the will to jump and never be dragged again. this song speaks to me on a personal level and I must admit I have been crying all day but in the most cathartic way. if you listen with an open mind and expand yourself to the vast musical catalog of BTS's body of work you will find BTS are truly artists for healing and their attention to detail is remarkable.
can you please explain the song to me I truly dont get it.
I'm trying so hard but i just cant understand it. I know you can put subtitles but i dont know the meaning of the song.
couldn't of said it any better
Brianna Castillo Well, I guess you don’t have a Twitter account, those @RMY$ come and explain every thing and all the theories are there, it’s very helpful for @RMY$! I will try to explain it as short as possible: in the beginning it says a dancer can go trough 2 deaths, the first one being the most painful one and that’s losing the passion for the thing they love the most. In B TS’s case, they talk how they fear of losing passion for music. The center dancer represents the swan, and the dancers in black the shadows. In the first they control him and they torture him, they don’t let him to fly, all the bad thoughts and the passion losing. Then feels like in a cage where again the shadow within fight him and they don’t let him to get free but in the end he menages to escape it! Later he even fights and accepts the shadows, he gets to control them in the end and they help him to fly this time! The swan represents BTS in their music career and how in the end they realizing that music represents them, music is within them, it’s all they have! They fought and accept their shadows allowing them to grow more as artists and continue to do what they love the most, music. I really hope you understand more of it
@@briannacastillo7864 maybes that's the point. If you dont get it, it might mean you are not supposed to. If you havent went through a moment that the song is explaining then you won't understand.

Black Swan no es solo una canción es un sentimiento que sale desde el alma
As a dancer, i for sure can relate to what the dancers have illustrated for us. i’ve hit a point where i lost my passion for dance...i felt like it was this weight which i was forced to carry, and i hated it. after that dance season ended, i stopped competing, and started to not show up to classes to train. at first i felt free like the invisible weight was lifted off of me...but then i felt like i lost a part of me. i felt clueless on what i wanted to do besides studying...i kept debating “do i want to go back to dance” but the thought of “what’s the point if i don’t feel this fire anymore” kept pulling me back. I later went to this show that my friends were performing in, and when i saw them, they relit this fire, this motivation in me. i saw how passionate they are for their craft and that just hit something in me. it pushed me to come back to dance, and start training again. yes it was rough at first, but then i slowly started to enjoy it. this opportunity then opened up for me where i’d be on the dance team for this pro basketball team and i felt like this was my chance. while at auditions, i felt so motivated and kept pushing myself. the energy in the room was amazing too; people were hyping each other up, saying “ayeee” and “let’s goo!”. it made me feel good. i realized that this is why i loves dance. this is why i’ve stuck with it for so long. i later found out that i made the team and i felt so happy, so grateful...i felt like my hard work indeed paid off...after that i began to train more, and get back into competitions and conventions. dance now is not just a sport, an art, a hobby. it’s now my passion that i am extremely grateful for. my wings have begun to work with me and eventually lifted me from one of the darkest times in my life. thanks bts for doing this :)

This song portrays all the hardships that come with creating art. The fear of reaching a point where ur passion is gone and the moment where u rise from this struggle.
Mind blowing
We found worst than art block : lost of passion and interest
i can definitely relate, i did dance since i was 5 and i slowly lost interest in it even though my biggest dream was to be a professional dancer.i didn’t want to give it up cause it’s what i lived for but i also didn’t want to spend the rest of my life doing something i didn’t have passion for anymore. it truly is devastating having to move on from something you put your whole life and existence into. it’s a very hard choice to make. i bet a lot of people can relate to the song too plus it’s a bop 🤩

So true, you put it so accurately. It is not money(although that's very good) it's their craft that's important to them.... I have never appreciate any artists like I do these artists and they are still young. I so 💜 them
@@yolodannyiny3263 well (at least from my perspective) many artists start out passionate and love the work they create. They do it for the art, the getting thier voice out,not the fame. The fame is collected along the way. And after a certian point they slowly pump out content just to stay famous,to stay relevant. Especially when they reach BTS's point. (Multimillionaires) The fact that BTS is saying they wish to forever love what they do, produce words of passion and Feeling. It shows that there is more than just "I wanna be famous"(basically the lines Yoongi state in Shadow) they want to continue being in love with music, dance, etc etc.
I think this is what the op was saying but again this is my interpretation of the video as well as this comment. I hope this made sense for you as my wording can become confusing (so confusing I confuse my own self half the time😂)
@@maymaecat5149 ooooohhhh okay i understand Thank tho

I was actually very disappointed when this version wasn't included on the album or even simply released on Spotify. I love the album version, but I also really enjoy this one too.
Candii Rabbit ikr. I like both versions. This should of been included. But this dance group changed the songs to this version so it fits the dance. Since the other original version is upbeat
You can find this version in Spotify inside a playlist called "bts hidden gems". Here's the link:

sad souls the person who arranged the song was the same person who arranged the love yourself highlight reel, his name is in the description, Myungsoo Shin. He also did the soundtrack for burn the stage and bring he soul, as well as some orchestral versions for txt. gooogle his website it is pretty interesting, and you’ll find his other arrangements which are fantastic like the love yourself highlight reel
Black swan es una obra de arte inigualable!!!! El instrumental, la letra , los bailarines, el escenario, las voces de los chicos , TODO ES ARTE !!!
I think this “first death” applies to anyone who has lost their passion due to depression or something similar and the fact that BTS is able to capture the feeling of this in a single song is absolutely breathtaking
Roxanne Dare لا تحط ايموجي انها تجمد المشاهدات
Roxanne Dare i made a bs&t version of black swan on my channel !!
100 % agree
Roxanne Dare “dancing” can be applied to any action. It’s really amazing.

This version of Black Swan *NOT* being available on Spotify is a CRIME 😭

black swan is just art. its not even a song anymore, its way beyond that
yeah! totally agree! there is so much more to talk about this song; "Black Swan"
in terms of the "BTS" as musicians, singers, dancers, instrumentalists, producers, songwriters...
this goes everything in it as a "7"...
you can see how well they meticulously made everything.
for references.. deep dive...
here are legit, genuine, true musicians, dancers, and squad RV for this,

THIS
"I'd rather die than live without passion." -Jungkook
Black Swan is the struggle of losing the passion for music which is their shadow. However, in the end, accepting those shadows and overcoming them makes them fly. The song is so beautiful!
"y'all jungkook is gonna die soon" -Suga
Woah-
Queen is my kink by suga? In what reference?
@@serenelynika he said that as a joke right after jungkook's phrase "i'd rather die than live without passion"
I can't stop thinking about the movie. The swan dies for trying to achieve perfection. I think her last words were "I'm perfect now."
Una prueba más de que las canciones de bangtan son arte
bts songs always mark some events in my life, and black swan did so. watching this again in 2020 makes me reminisce how things were in early 2020.
i am currently lost and having no idea on how things should be, hoping a way will be laid up soon
It's been SEVEN years and they still put out surprising music that stays with you. I am so proud of you, BTS. Also, the dancers in this art film did an amazing job.

ART !!!!!!
This version really hits different for me. Infact, it made me fall in love with the original trap version, which I previously didn't like lol. I hope BTS will make more songs like this in future 💜🎵 ~
Why is this so underrated? it's one of the most beautiful song of BTS
Very aesthetic💜

I love the song ….it’s beautiful
It's not underrated tho

I don't think BTS have ever done anything that pissed me off more than not putting this version on the album.
And yet they put ON with Sia in it
it was Bighits fault :/
I agree this is a powerful yet underrated song, especially this version but ON song is definitely no less in comparison to this ! Check the documentary bts released for ON song , you will get why i am saying so..

No matter how much I watch this masterpiece, I cannot get enough of watching it. I can listen to Black Swan forever without getting bored. Im not going to lie,i love the orchestral version of black swan alot better then the other one. This version really captures the beauty and sadness of the song, and i really wish they would put this version on spotify.Anyway thanks for listening to my ted talk.

At first, the black swan was caged with their shadows. Then, they fight back the shadows and start to walk alone. But in the end, the shadows is the one who help the black swan to fly. The message is amazing.

It's such an incredible message! It makes me sad to think that a lot of people might watch this and not understand how deep and beautiful its meaning really is! 💜
After watching BTS reaction to Black Swan art film, namjoon said that in the end the swan can't fly free bcs get caught by the shadow. Perspective.
Beautiful
Love this interpretation!
Happy 4th Anniversary
With "Black Swan" Thank You For This Beautiful Masterpiece I'm So Proud Of You I Love You Bangtan ♡♡♡♡
I still get goosebumps whenever I watch this one !
This version just sounds more sad than the actual one. Like the actual you just feel like dancing too and don’t really read the lyrics, but with this one you feel something different and actually understand the lyrics
Idk if that made sense...
totally get you. there's benefits from each version and they represent the the message a little differently, yet still hold the same message.
This version is like a 5 minutes movie. There is the beginning when the lead character has a problem, the climax when there is struggle, and ending when the lead character overcomes the problem. When the bird flies to the sky at the end.. i think it's a very beautiful ending.
imma clown biches totally get u
It totally does.....it's a complete art form. I daresay this touches me emotionally than it being sad.
feel you
i think one aspect that is being missed with the imagery is the visual of how the shadows are the wings in the beginning and end. for many artists, its dark pasts or “shadows” that inspire their art and make it feel authentic. but the other part of that is that it can be what ends up holding you back despite helping you “fly” (like wings do) in the first place.
Wonderful comment, thank you!
I like how you explained it 😍
Yes, our darkness can be an obstacle ready to block us ...or an abstacle we can use as a trampoline
