As an Aussie, besides the classic Channel 9 team, Jim Maxwell is the voice of cricket in summer, but my fondest memories are Kerry O'keeffe and Harsha Bhogle in the booth together whenever India were touring
Is he a gynecologist? those who know, they know.🤣🤣
One thing about Ian Bishop is that when I listen to him commentating on Bangladesh, he seems to know everything's that going on (and had gone on) in our cricket. Sometimes even more than our resident commentators (and unfortunately, earsores, both of them) - Athar Ali Khan and Shamim Chowdhury.
Man does his homework.
Is it a particularly high bar to be better than Athar and Shamim m
@@nooneknows19 bruh that's kinda the lowest bar. My point is man knows more than people who should be knowing these stuff.
@@zuhayershadmankhan9870 Yh that's true. Bish is class.

Famous commentator *fights*
- Navjot Sidhu vs Geoffrey Boycott
- Ravi Shastri vs Nasser Hussain
Couple of occasions when Indian commentators banded together
- SA series 2001 Mike Dennes saga
- Aus series 2008 Monkeygate incident
I am surprised Mikey Holding or Bishop wasn't first pick for any of you. Love Holding, he never is afraid of having the tough cricket conversations on or off the field. Bishop is easily the best currently knows ins and outs of probably all cricket boards and whats going on with yheir players (usually most people know their home country and are casuals when it comes to the rest but not Bishop). Doully and Ponting are great picks, doully has been great last couple years and Ponting's cricketing knowledge explains it so well, very consistent over the years. As an Indian, obviously Harsha childhood fav but has fallen off in recent times, needs to be less afraid imo. Was surprised no one picked Ian Smith, deserved to be in top 15. Warnie is a great should also, great entertainment on and off the field in the comm box. Surprisingly, i like Behram's list for once cuz he had the Sky guys kinda biased towards them. Its close between Estelle and Behram. Jarrod probably comes last in this one lol .
As soon as soon I hear Mike Holding, I switched off. He is so biased against BCCI.
Loved the passing mention of Skull (Kerry O'Keeffe) by Behram. I love skull. The banter between Skull and King during the Ozzie Summer test series are the best. Skull has the best comedic senses and I'm a sucker for his stories and jokes. Forget I'm watching cricket for a while. True showman. Never know what's coming
He's not as good as Bumble though
Don Mosey, Fred Trueman, Trevor Bailey, Christopher Martin Jenkins, Henry Blofeld, Brian Johnson - this was collectively a great era for BBC Test Match Special. Modern day Jeremy Coney. And enjoyed Ian Chappell when he did ABC radio at the end of his career
I think Jarrod is right with Tony Cosier, used to love listening to the knowledge he imparted when West Indies Toured NZ. But List needed Ian Smith. Although I don't like some of Mark Richardson's views but I do think Rigger is a good commentator but he didn't go overseas. I am glad no one picked Sir Ian Botham. My top 5 Ian Smith, Simon Doull, Richie Benaud, Mark Nicholas, and Billy Birmingham, and my Honourable Mention SK Warne had that voice that told you that the summer of Cricket was here (just like Richie in a way) and the bloke is truly missed.
The guy scoffs at Ponting's mention then goes on to pick Ramiz Raja. Okay.
Ponting is elite
Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne are the most elite commentators in the world simply for their understanding of the game! Nobody comes close to them maybe Kevin pietersen comes close in the analysis of cricket !
Ramiz Raja being picked in the top commentators list just shows a bias..
picked bumble and explained his pick by telling pakistan win, it is how you tell you are biased withaout telling you are biased. similarly first explanation for Nasser is also about calling pakistan wins. both are very good commentators but reasoning is very bad. And then picks Ramiz Raja. 😂😂
I'm a pakistani myself and tbh ramiz raja is a rubbish commentator. He just speaks somewhat of good English and that's about it. He's no way at the level of pontings or nas or bishop tbh !
Cricket Analysis & Pleasing voice & Language -
Ian Bishop, Ricky Ponting, Harsha Bhogle , Ian Smith, Nasser Hussain, Mark Nicholas - Contemporary Greats. ( Sanjay Manjrekar / Simon Doull - can be very incisive at times).
Also, for making moments seem grand - Tony Greig, Ravi Shastri, Mike Haysman
Grace - Michael Atherton, David Gower
Humour - Kerry o Keefe
I dont like any of these guys. For me all of them JUNK!
bear in mind Nass and Mike both grew up together as they're the same age and they played against each other in age group county cricket, where I think Athers may have grown up as a leggie.
Wonderful conversation!! Keep cranking out these hits.
Commentary is subjective but we can all agree Matthew Hayden is abysmal right?
ABSOLUTELY
Fantastic list and great podcast series. So many interesting opinions.
Would love to see a recap / final picks and who made the pick at the end of the video
Ian Bishop
Simon Doull
Harsha Bhogle
Mark Nicholas
Mike Haysman
i was born in 04 so my list doesn’t include many of the older guys.
1. Ian bishop
2. smith
3. Ricky ponting (purely insightful)
4. isa guha
5. Kerry o’keefe (funniest commentator)
Kerry O'Keeffe is a great pick especially in that funny plus nuffy hehe, Graeme Swann too.
at roughly 24 minutes about non playing TV commentators coming through like Howard, Collins, Lemon. There's also a new guy, Nikhil Uttamchandani, who is very well informed and knows his stuff about the game
I was born in 2005, so I don't know all the older ones, but my top 5 are probably (in no particular order): Greig, Jeremy Coney, Atherton, Kerry O Keeffe, Mikey Holding
Ian Smith & Ian Bishop & Bumble and Sanga & Ponting (the latter 2 for pure insight and the first 3 for big moments) are close behind
for radio I'd say Gerard Whateley, Dan Norcross, Neil Manthorp
some personal left field picks, Damien Fleming, Phil Tufnell, Mark Butcher
Waddle and Coney, growing up we're the sound of summer in NZ.
Unfortunately radio is dead now. Coney could paint a picture in your mind.
warnie? slater? isa? gilchrist? pommie? heysman?
Australian TV: Bill Lawry. Australian Radio: Peter Roebuck (RIP), Gerard Whateley.
Loved the choices, would be even more fun if the three of you were forced to choose among the 15 you chose
The most underrated guy no-one mentioned is Robin Jackman! He was gold.
agreed. Jackers was outstanding
I like how Atherton does England's worst moments so well.
insane , insane, ABSOLUTELY INSANE
I forgot tony Greig , he was awesome as well. All indians who woke up at 4:00am in morning listen to the Benson Hedges Series in 1985 never forget tony greig and richie benaud voice. Those sound effects by channel 9 and duck icon for duck. It was cartoonish but fun. It was better than ipl. Serious game with great sound effect. Its like watching cricket in fantasy land. First time the quality of video was Hi resolution in india.
Those period Srilanka had tamil channel and tv and i forgot those names. They super crystal clear Tv better than all of india. I mean small country srilanka had highest quality TV broadcast ( i think japanese installed it i think)
Ian Chappell is the man... His writing is even better... My only issue with him was him not liking Steve Waugh... I can't understand why, just cuz he did not play the hook and pull
My favourites (for different reasons) might be Jeremy Coney and Navjot Singh Sidhu, but so many I enjoyed over the years
For me , 1. Dean Jones 2. david lloyd 3 Danny morrison They show passion that others dont show. Others may have good voice or style.
I have more knowledge than Behra and Estelle at least. They are choosing Nasser and Chappelil. wtf????
I can’t believe Heals, Tubby and Slats aren’t on the list. Anyone we referred to the team as “we” are winners
Ramiz Raja is on par with Sanjay Manjrekar.. Common dude .
I’m with Behram on this one, sky team on test cricket is very, very analytical and interesting
My five from those not chosen: Ian Smith, Geoffrey Boycott, Neil Manthorp, Isa Guha, Mark Nicholas.
Also... have you heard mkaya ntini? Thats a lot of fun, his enthusiasm is great.
As per Qazi Ravi Shastri and Harsha Bhigle are biased but Ramiz Raja is not.. whatba joke this guy is
I think this one will definitely have a bias based on when you started watching cricket.
Richie, Griegy, Lawry, Bish and Michael Holding would be my 5
Ian Bishop is the only correct answer.
Ramiz Raja at top 15 commentator list is just funny 😂😂
I had Tony Cozier at the top as well.
Rameez Raja CANNOT be on any objective OR subjective list of best commentators LOL. That's worse than if Estelle picked Russell Arnold.
Bhogle, Chappell, Bishop, Jackman and Nasser
E.W Swanton, John Arlott, Alan McGilvray, Johnny Moyes and Richie Benaud. Gee how old am I?
I don't think the final list was half bad, especially after you've acknowledged there are blatantly biased picks. Not sure why Nas provoked so much surprise, he is an objectively great commentator. Thank you for not even mentioning Sanjay Manjrekar.
So bad it’s funny. Estelle has clearly only watched TV cricket for about 5 years. Behram is either trolling or has drawn his selections at random. Jarrod has much better taste and knowledge, but his actual picks are quite bland.
With my Indian bias, my top three are Ian Bishop, Ravi Shastri and Harsha Bhogle
I put my TV on mute when Ramiz starts talking.
i like Mark Nicholas!
Ponting is really good in commentary box don't know whatbthe hell qazi was thinking
Next we need best cricket scoring graphics
Ramiz Raja, ugh...I would put Basid Khan ahead of him instead, if at all. Surprising you guys missed Ian Smith, Tony Grieg, and Bill Lawry, maybe Mark Nicklaus too ....all right up there...
Isa guha and bhogle are my favourite....
Maybe showing my lack of age
Ian bishop ,Simon doull, shastri will be my top3
Why no KP?😂
Mike Haysman
Tony greig?
yeah surprised he didn’t make the list. I thought he'd be in the top 5.
Neil manthorp and gerald de kock, best team. Pommie is also legend
Oh yes of course Hussain minnock
how come no geoff bycott?
Cricket suffers from English bias..thr may be equally good commentators in India and Pakistan commentating in Hindi and Urdu but will never make it to any commentary list
Ramiz Raja is a nice commentator 👍
Jorrod wins it baby.
Bill lawry?
So no one’s making case for dinesh kartick
Analytical, good reader of the game. Undone by cheap, unfunny banter and poorly concealed bias.
Does Jarrod like anyone?
Ramiz Raza wtf!!!😩
He could have been on my list of worst commentators .
Harsha B is annoying AF!
Richie Benaud is first. Daylight second. Mark Nicholas 3rd maybe. Rest don’t matter
35 mins into the video and no Tony Greig yet! WTF is going on?
Also I dare you to do the list of worst commentators. I will quit watching this channel if Sanjay Manjrekar doesn't top most lists in it
Nasser Hussain, Michael Atherton, Ian Smith, Ravi Shastri. Warne was, RIP, Michael Holding was up there as well but he's retired, Sangakkara is great but doesn't do enough, Simon Doull was up there for me but he does too much gimmicky T20 stuff now.
Worst - Mel Jones
They are ok. better than indian commentators for sure by miles.
I genuinely dont mind Mel Jones. Doull is great, but I agree on the IPL stuff and T20 its all hyperbole. He is much better on Sky
Benaud
Greig
Bumble
Ian smith
Bishop
Holding was trash
Nasser is he having a laugh?
Tony Grieg!!!!!!!
Atherton
Wow.. Just five mins in and the choices are just "huh"! Gavaskar and Chapell for longevity maybe.. But Benaud, Boycott and Bhogle would be my fav fantasy commentary panel - would cover all the bases and be thoroughly entertaining
How about Shane Warne
Ian Chappell ❤ Respect 👏👏👏
But Ramiz Raja is really 💩💩💩💩💩
Ramiz lmao. Have some shame Behram.
Love Jarrod but he was a bit patronizing in this episode 😅
Navjot Sidhu was goofy but fun. Would have loved to see him continue in commentary instead of getting into politics (and making a mess).
