Everyone probably has this particular "home"-music, music you've been listening to for half of your life already, that accompanies you through several life phases and that seems to understand you every single time in a very special way. Somehow it even adds another, deeper understanding of your situation or shows you feelings you never had before. A feeling that really just a few people can give you. Burial's music is mine - thank you for being my home and my inspiring, fragile, dark ambiguous friend, so warm and cold at the same time
This year has been a absolute mess but one of the greatest things was discovering burial after a break up. Untrue became one of those albums I just became obsessed with, and then following that obsession with his discog. This single just made my day, it feels like a carry on from clustro and embraces that whole 90s rave vibe. Thank you for everything burial your music means a lot to me ❤️
Also discovered Burial after a breakup in 2012... his music still takes me back to how sad and lost I felt at the time, even 8 years later. Things have gotten much better since then thankfully, and so has his music.
Just like the best Burial tunes, this gets better with every listen. I didn't like it the first few listens. Then I caught myself humming it days later. Came back to it and now I can't stop playing it. Absolute banger. Can't wait to hear Dolphinz. Thank you Burial!
There’s aloe more going on than I caught initially. I was a bit bummed not to find any atmospheric moments, but if you actually listen to the way the melody shifts and builds, .... it’s really great. I still think Temple Sleeper is his best fast song tho.
@@user-ob9zo9cr4c I think what tim is getting at, is this reminds him of the splintered, pitched up vocals in hardcore, happy hardcore, and some jungle back in the early 90s. I reckon 1997 is a bit late for this, and it is more like 1993/4 for the peak of that kind of thing. The Prodigy are an easy one to link to this sound, with tracks from The Prodigy Experience using vocals and breakbeats like this.
I’ll never forget listening to the street halo EP and the first Thom/Four Tet/Burial collab in 2011, thinking “.....THIS is the future of music.” From Burial’s Kindred EP to Chemz, he never fails to disappoint. (If you haven’t heard the burial/four tet collab “nova,” look it up, it’s worth it.).
Just came home from a night bike ride through a blistering cold central London. As I was crossing London Bridge I started this tune on my portable speaker. It was somewhat of an out of bodily experience. This blows everything else from 2020 out of the water!
I think that the world is a better place with Burial in it. Glad to see him making his annual return, consistently on form as always. What a nice early Christmas present.

I don't know how anyone could downvote this. I feel like this is sound I have waited my entire life for. Burial's post-rave style has always been something I enjoy at my age, this track ramps it back up on to the dancefloor and I can't stop playing it.

Christmas Eve last year and I was admitted into hospital with a severe STI, my left testicle had swollen up to the size of an orange and some random Taiwanese doctor told me I was going to lose one of my Christmas baubles. Listened to this tune on repeat for about 4 hours on the hospital bed and I've never been so grateful for any piece of music existing. Just can't explain or feel when I'm around you baby.
This is without doubt a homage to the underground rave culture of the early 90's, and I think you really had to experience it first-hand to fully appreciate this tune. A glorious mix of nostalgia, adrenaline and endorphins - thank you, Burial. 🍻
I agree with you that this track (and many others by him) is a tribute to 90 s rave culture but I personally never experienced this era but loved that track at first sight anyway. Btw Burial himself claimed he never went to any rave when he was young
@@deaconbluesful Of course mate, anyone can enjoy it as a song, I'm not saying that - I mean to have the memories it brings flooding back from that time adds something extra - you get the full experience.
