This is some well timed advice as I'm just getting back into tournament play and I've noticed the back players on my team's main line are actually some of the best players. And it's because they can fill into any position and communicate instructions rather than just player location. The game has changed from when the back player was just a steady lane holder.
@@SVPPaintball it's also the spot I play, so I'm trying to avoid bias. But I do think that teams who haven't had a superstar back player, don't know what they're missing. At lower levels, a strong 3 can carry mediocre 2s and 1s, as long as they're baseline competent. A strong 1 or 2 can have a really hard time if the 3 can't get control of a game. Love the series!
Back is the hardest IMO because it requires the fastest paintball-processing-mind and a loud, commanding voice. You also need to be able to do all the other positions at a moments notice. Respect to the 3s!
Agreed 1000%! It’s also a very mentally taxing job, because sometimes you’re losing points because your front players die off the break, and it’s hard to know how to help them stay alive in those cases.
I love how I was talking to a player about how I wanted to become a better back player! This video gave some tips and just need to put certain things in motion
This is by far the best channel that explains everything in details very well. Im an airsoft player im just here gathering info more my upcoming tournament. Even tho paintball and speedsoft are completely different sports. They have very similar play styles. So im taking everything i learn from here and using that for my next tourney. Thanks 🙏
Perhaps. The mid player guide emphasis much more on what you do to help you front player and contain theirs. The back player guide focuses on facilitating movement across those two man operations. But i can give this some more thought :)
@@salmanilla2000 Front players are called the "1's" and the Mid players are called the "2's." People moved away from calling it the "back player," because on so many layouts, the guy playing in the middle would often push up the center of the field quickly or off the break. Making it counterintuitive to call them the back player. So instead, they call it the 3 :)
@@salmanilla2000 To my knowledge there isn't a 4 and 5 position. There are some teams that will say "the 4," and "the 5" when they are calling out, but those are in reference to bunkers. Usually, the 1 through 5 are the backline bunkers on most fields. It can be confusing, but usually when people talk about the positions they play, they'll say "I play the number 2 on the snake side," or "I play the number 1 in the doritos." Whereas in callouts, they simply say "THE ONE," or "THE 3!"
What do you guys think? Is the BACK Player the HARDEST position to play?

@@paintballdad908 agreed! I love the back position because it’s really fun to orchestrate a game plan in the middle of a point!
Hardest? I don't know. Most complex certainly. At least imo.
@@BigSlamMan2333 that’s fair. I’m realizing “hardest” is a big vague.

I agree the 3 is hard as I used to be a 1. So much more I have to be aware of now playing the 3.
Your editing is sooooo clean, keep it up 🔥
Thanks bro. Love youuuuuuu :)
I’m so glad I found this channel! Looking to play some tournaments!
Subbed!
Thank you!!
Just ran our first tournament ever. Was a blast and I will implement these videos to the rest of our camp! Keep ‘‘em coming!
Thank you! I got back from ICC just recently, so I can focus my attention on videos again
Could you possibly make a video talking about the difference between playing the 2 and 3? I think there’s sometimes some confusion there…

Let’s gooo got some opl clips in there love it
That field looked GORGEOUS. Grass looked nice, weather looked good, and the bunkers looked brand new.
These are great videos!
Thank you!
I’ve always thought of the back player as the “leader” on each team
Agreed
Thank you
You’re welcome!
Hight level of quality vidéo :)
Thank you!!!

Is the Back-player considered a defensive position?
I'm just here for the megaman X background music.
Dude honestly, same…. Mega man x music SLAPS
Is that ALTTP music?
I’m not sure what ALTTP is
