    I love mine. My roll lasts about 2 months and I'm not even on the XL rolls as yet. I hang mine high up so there is more downward pressure on the rolls so I think they get dirtier before they roll.

      Im getting there but I do broadcast feed and leave the pump running so that may be contributing to the usage. I've heard of people hanging them higher I may have to give that a try.

    I love mine. I just got an XL put on prior I had the original size. The only thing that I am jealous about that you did is pulling that dirty roll off so easily. I have used up two rolls prior to adding the XL and for the life me it does not work that easy for me. I had to unroll by hand the entire thing. Not sure why.

      Awesome it's been one of the best on my tank since my calcium reactor. You might have to apply some type of grease to the plastic sleeve that holds the roll to help out come off easier.

    I am going to run mine to a 1 inch drain. Did you need anything special to hook yours up to the drain from the tank? I am concerned that it is metric and will need some kind of converter.

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  2 роки тому +1

      There was no special connection needed I used a 1 inch barb connection

    The way you have this installed seems ideal for changing the roles, am I correct (I'm curious because of limited sump size). You have the drain coming into the back, if I'm correct, and then you hang it either on the far left (your situation) or far right (what I'd end up doing). Given that, may I ask what the distance is between the back of your sump and the front of the rollers (because I would have a relatively large skimmer sitting in front of it - so verifying I'd have room for the 5000)?

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  4 роки тому +1

      I no longer have that sump and am not able to give measurements on distance but I can tell you that it was a standard 29 gallon 30x12x18 the clarisea is 10x9x18. You are correct I have the sk5000 positioned to drain at the back it does make it easier to change the roll out and do maintenance.

    Question for ya
    Did the nitrates and phosphates went down a bit after the Clarisea installation?

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  4 роки тому +1

      I did see a drop in nitrates as there was less food rotting in the system and phosphates are slowly dropping

    Thanks for the video, brother!! I am thinking of ditching the filter socks but trying to decide on either the ClariSea GEN 2 5000SK oR THE NEW Compact Roller Mat!! How many gallons are you pushing through your system first of all? Also what are your thoughts and opinions? anyways, I will be dropping it in a SCA 150 rimless tank in my Synergy CL-44 SUMP.

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  3 роки тому

      I would say im pushing about 700 - 800 through the returns

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  3 роки тому

      Just to add there are quite a few options on filter rollers but I would mainly look at the replacement rolls and if you can get replacements from any store or online shop.

    is there a lot of bad smell coming from the used roll
    ?

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  3 роки тому

      There is a faint smell because well its trapping waste but not like the smell you would get from a skimmer collection cup.

    Any changes of nitrate and phosphate? Close to zero or in a good range?

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  4 роки тому

      This has helped to keep nitrate low as there is less decaying food in the water column

    Thanks for making this. 👍🙏
    I’m curious- if this is directly plumbed from main siphon drain with a “Bean Animal” type overflow, is there any issues purging air from the drain line to establish full siphon again after return pump is turned back on?
    Cheers 🍻

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  3 роки тому

      There could be a issue as the purging bubbles would make the float bounce causing the roll to advance unnecessarily. Since I run a bean animal overflow I use my apex to delay the turn on of the Clarisea during feeding and water changes this lets things settle out which usually takes about a minute.

    How much does the xl last?

    • @SimplyReefing
      @SimplyReefing  3 роки тому

      It really depends on different factors like bio load and feeding. I generally get a little over 2 weeks out of a roll sometime less were as with socks i was changing those out every couple of days.
