As an idea to help with all the slack and build up stick a post deep in the snow, pull the slack and tie it around.

Hey Johnathan, super happy you enjoyed the PL1! Can't wait to see you taking it into the backcountry. Sorry to see the rope fail! It shouldn't happen like that under normal operation. We'll want to check out the guides on your unit to make sure they aren't eating away at the rope too much. If we need to send you new guides they are very easy to swap out. On steeper terrain you may want to use a climbing harness to take the load off of your arms. We also recommend using the blue webbing strap with the snow anchor in the future. Great video looking forward to seeing more!

Imagine him constantly riding over the top of it added some micro cuts to the line and could be part of the issue

The paracord has enough stretch you should be able to tie the bottom off to a tree or something stationary to prevent there being much slack in the line. I think with the cords elasticity you could still feed the cord into the machine with the way its designed even after tying off. Still a dope concept and I would absolutely love to have one for those off resort runs!

That was so awesome!!! As anything, this is just the beginning of portable tow ropes. That thing was legit!!! Much better than the electric snowboard. 😆 The blues music when you had to walk back to the top was hilarious. 🔥🔥🔥

wonder if my local resort would let me use this, since there park is only 1/4 of the run, would be cool to use it in a section of the park of to the side out of the way and get to lap the park all day and get more hits, is tempting, thanks for the Vid

Just anchor the loose end to something tight so you have only enough slack to lace into the pulley system

Just also anchor the end loosely! (just loose enough so you can warp it around the lift, as well as lift it up the ground)

You could get a 2 foot piece of conduit and heat it up and form it to flow around you but might be a bit of a hassle to put in your pack.

  • @bartsimpsonhead

In the back country, if you're going to sled the rope tow machine down to the rider to pull themselves back-up, why not just tow them back-up off the back of the sled or have them jump on the sled 2-up and ride up? Also riding through trees - how's that gonna work?

@@JohnathanBuckhouse s'funny, whenever I watch videos of Jeremy Jones, or Travis Rice, or any 'proper' snowboarding pro, and they say they're taking a sled into the back country they typically mean something like a Skidoo or other 'sled'. I doubt they mean a children's toy. Hence my (and no doubt) many other peoples confusion.

Tow Pro makes very cool products but they are completely different from the Zoa PL1. They're awesome for backyard set ups but they aren't portable in the same way that the PL1 is portable, and they are much more expensive. You wouldn't be able to carry a tow pro lift into the backcountry with you in your backpack, which is what the PL1 is designed to do.
