The outfits are the characters. Mitch is Zazu, Kirstie is Nala, Kevin is Simba, Matt is Timon, and Scott is Puumba. And yes, scared little boys and girls who would rather Kirstie stay completely covered as a grown ass woman need to grow up. She looks GORGEOUS and POWERFUL and STUNNING. If people have a problem with that, the problem is THEM.
Matt is incomparable to me. I could listen to him all day.
She looks gorgeous, I always thought it was ridiculous that they gave her a hard time about that. Great reaction. Oh and adorable puppy! LOL.
I find the "outrage" frightening honestly. Like they are some sort of gatekeepers of Kirstie's innocence and/or image. This was 2019, she was 27 damn years old and could choose what the hell she wants to wear as a performer and a grown ass adult woman. Those sorts of people are the sorts that chase celebrities away from meeting fans because of their brand of possessive crazy where they think they are entitled to some sort of ownership of a performer.
They released an "audio only" version of this first and most listeners didn't realize that Matt shared Scott's solo, and couldn't tell when Kirstin and Mitch changed off. It's one of Pentatonix' super-powers that they can sing in pairs and match each others timbre so closely.
One of the things I'm most impressed with is that Matt and Scott didn't just trade off on the lead vocals but also the bass line. Seamlessly.
I believe Scott said something like, "Can we Beyonce this up?" And Mitch said, "Ahhoooo. . . "
It‘s not a surprise that Scott can go low! He has taken over the bass several times from Avi (in Hallelujah) and from Matt (in Sound of Silence) and is actually a Bariton, which only underpins his incredible range from going real low (Sound of Silence) to high (Coffee in bed and many others)!
I agree. But I disagree when the reactor said that Scott's voice is dropping with age when he intentionally wanted it to sound like this. Scott slips into falsetto as easily into bass.
Anyone complaining about Kirsty dress is JEALOUS!

I saw somewhere that Kirstie had a facial injury that partially paralyzed the muscle on one side of her smile. She is an amazing performer and singer and has not let this issue hold her back in sharing her awe-inspiring vocal gift.
I didn't hear this just that she said was a bad habit she had, and that she is trying to stop do it, I think is cute, in the D. Punk she did this and look very cute,
I love their version! You need to react to Scott’s first solo ‘Mars’. You really hear more of his vocal capabilities and it’s an amazing video.

The controversy with the dress was that previous to this video Kirstie covered herself up so much that the fans forgot she had breasts. She always had good style but the style was demure before this video. Then she comes in with the double stick tape dress that shows how much she had been covering up over the years. She looks great. We just didn't know that she could fill a Beyonce type dress.
They did indeed make me believe the very best, as the song says. Truly wonderful harmony of truly wonderful voices. Good reaction. Good analysis. The 'controversy' was all about this being the most decolletage Kirstin ever exhibited, something she rarely did before. So what, I say. Other performers have been far more risqué with much less supposed controversy. (Also, that puppy is a terrific singer. lol) 🦁

In 2022 we should be able to listen to pentatonix without bringing Avi’s name up in a song he was never involved in. Why can’t Matt’s bass stand alone as the current and only bass from this song? I feel bad for Matt having been in this group since late 2017 and Avi still gets brought up on their newer songs. The guy can’t win and all he did was take over a part Ptx needed replacing since Avi chose to leave. Matt is a better fit sound wise and personality with the other members.

I am happy for both of them, that they are able to live the (musical) life they dreamed of.

I'm pretty sure Kirsty's "half smile" is something she was born with. I have something similar though not as pronounced. Muscles on the left side of my face are stronger than the same muscles on the right side. So when I smile or talk/sing you can see it. Another famous person who has this type of thing is Sylvester Stallone. His is VERY pronounced and pulls not just sideways, but downward. His mother has the same thing, but not as pronounced. So, I may be wrong about Kirsty, but that's my guess. It certainly is so very charming on her.

Great reaction! I never saw a problem with Kirstie’s outfit either.
Matt doesn’t get enough love. Avi left the band on his own accord. The “new” bass has been with them for five years. There is no evidence that Kirstin ever had or needed surgery to correct a mouth defect. Kirstin is a lovely lady with a nice figure and the dress is fine.
Is this a reaction with comments or is it a gossip column.
This is why I had stopped listening and unsubscribed to this reactor -- immature, intentionally uncontroversial towards the group and obviously not a fan of Matt. I won't waste my time again.

The "half smile" is due to a cleft in her mouth. I think she's since had some surgery on it ..we love that absolutely gorgeous woman.

I don't think the 'side smile' is anything more than her having fun with the song. She gets happy and starts to smile and we see this wry half-smile, very sexy if you ask me. Kinda a flirty thing. If you watch the Daft Punk mashup you'll see it in her solo where she is being sort-of shy/flirty with the camera.

They arrange completely differently with Matt. I don't miss Avi as much as I loved the songs he did.

Hello Maggie, Thanks for doing this one. Superb PTX again. Stunning videography. The arrangement, the solos, the harmonies. Scott on that raspy voice, Matt so warm and deep, Kevin on that beat-boxing (how does he do that?), Kirstie so sharp and belting AND Mitch, Mitch, Mitch so smooth like caramel, and that ethereal ear candy and then that climb into the stratosphere - with the vibratos too -- epic!!!! Shooketh for sure !! There is a Behind the Scenes for the making of this video, you should react to that, nice treats in there and you see Mitch describing and planning that key change. Have you reacted to the new PTX release - Prayers For This World? It came out about two weeks ago. Scott and Matt do a similar handover in that one. New PTX album coming on October 28!! I loved your comparison of the twin-sies in this particular performance of theirs. I heard the audio first and then watched the video later. I did exactly what you were curious about even though I've listened to a lot of Pentatonix: I caught the Kirsten/Mitch switch in the middle but didn't realize (until the video) that I had completely missed the Matt/Scott switch in the beginning. But it wasn't until listening here that I realized that I've missed (over and over and over again) the Scott/Matt humming switch at the very end.
I also loved loved loved your comment about Avi with regards to Matt. You voiced it perfectly. "I miss Avi because he brought something that Matt doesn't but if Avi came back, I wouldn't want Matt to leave because Matt adds so much to the group." I'd say, take a page from the Home Free book and have 2 basses, let Scott do baritone and tenor, and leave the sopranos to Mitch and Kirstie.
That isn't going to happened Avi isn't coming back. Matt is the bass of Ptx now and I love him. And we could see Avi in his own project if they love him so much.

Matt is sweet....indeed....voice and personality. I just subbed. Kirstie was doing the half smile in the video "The Prayer" and quickly stopped it. I wonder if someone pointed it out and said to not do it.
I think I hear that was a bad habit she had and that she is working to stop doing it, and I think is working because she did this more in the Avi era, in the last 3 or 4 years I saw her less doing this
Gorgeous audio and visuals imho. If people don’t like Kirstie’s fashion decisions there’s a simple solution = listen to the audio and don’t watch the video 🙄
Is stupid to complain about that, She sing this song perfect, made a perfect pair with Mitch, love when they change and goes one to take the lead and the other on the background, love Matt base and how he sing, Scott voice, and Kevin is simply perfect like always. This is for me one of the best of Ptx, top 5 or 6 song.
I've seen rumors about Kirstie having been born with a cleft palate or having a childhood injury to her lip, but I've never seen anything official about that. She does have a scar on her right upper lip that you can see in closeups. I tend to believe that the half-smile is a singing habit she picked up and it seems to have gone away. I'm assuming that she had some vocal lessons to strengthen her voice before she did "Kinky Boots" on Broadway (in early 2018) and maybe worked to eliminate the half-smile as a bad habit. Todrick Hall's "Pentatodrix" satire of Pentatonix makes a lot of use of the half smile.
There’s no signs of her having a cleft palate in her very young childhood pictures or videos. Usually kids with clef palates have to undergo multiple surgeries which definitely would’ve have shown when she was young. I’ve also heard the rumor that it was a dog bite which seems to fit the scar more.
That's the same as Johnny Mathis. He picked up that half-smile to help get the tone he wanted when he was younger and never outgrew it.
She got the nerve in her upper lip repaired so the side mouth could go away. But the side mouth is back so I wonder if it is a choice or that the repair has partially failed. (Born with a clef pallette...I spelled that wrong on purpose)

I don’t believe there’s any truth the the cleft palate as she had no signs of it or scaring in any of her very young pictures or videos. I’ve heard the scar is from a dog bite which definitely fits the type os scaring she has in one small spot. Cleft palate surgeries usually leave a much larger scar that is centered right under the nose.
You were informed about a year ago that it was a physical deformity that Kirstin was sensitive about and you said that you would not make fun of her "side smile" again. That didn't last. Oh well. Also, I don't understand why you felt to the need to be disrespectful to Matt. It was rude and uncalled for for no good reason. It was just mean spirited for the sake of it. Odd and mean comments in this reaction.
I still lean on the idea that with Avi they were making significantly different choices in arranging. It's partly his vocal capabilities but, especially after watch Avi's solo stuff, it apparent that its more to do with his stylistic approach.

Pentatonix are great with Matt but you can tell the difference with the arrangement missing Avi. Just watching interviews you can hear evidence of the difference in their range. Avi is a bass with his speaking voice and Matt is not. unsuspecting.
