Let alone the fact that game designers have found better ways to make use of meta humor. The Stanley Parable is a clear example that you can use meta humor without insulting your audience's intelligence.

Sometimes I just wanna play a game that doesn’t take itself so seriously and is just a genuinely fun wacky and unique experience. The game made me laugh a few times but the humor doesn’t always hit. It can be a little cringe at times but sometimes it’s pretty good.
Whether one likes his comedy or not, just to note on of his earliest comedies was having Marty McFly and the balls of doc from back to the future. That and feces in another cartoon. That can give one an idea on his quality of the humor if one looked past Rick and Morty.

The continous collaboration between Justin and Zach Hadel makes me kinda happy, it's both an internet based creator being recognized by a decently popular mainstream creator and Zach gaining industry ties( at least apparent ones, I'm sure he has others, he's been around but this is the most frequent and public instance of collaboration) Edit:This comment in retrospect is both funny and horrific more than likely Zach knew nothing of the actions he's being tried for but I trust him enough and the recency of their relationship gives him the benefit of the doubt
My main reason for playing this was knowing Zach’s involvement as I don’t really watch Rick and morty. I was so happy to stumble across all the voices he plays. I did really enjoy the game though as well.
I hope Zach is involved in the next game. If High On Life had more of a Smiling Friends than Rick and Morty vibe I get the feeling more people than like, just me would be talking about it a year later

I played this game off of game pass so I have zero complaints about it because I didn't spend 60 dollars on it. My favorite part about it is the various differences you get for beating the game in different orders, using different guns to speak and what dialog/interactions you choose. My favorite one is that if you use Gus while doing the Dr. Droppy section he'll catch him slipping up with the wrong name for his children and you can kill him early. You still have you fight him though the suit goes into autopilot. Another one is if you side with Gene for the whole Tweeg side story when you go save your sister she brutally murdered him.
Its only because you got to play it for free that you even think its good, you would had never paid for it, i think that in itself speaks volumes, its a 5 dollar game being sold as 60

His Collab during the Seth Rogen hilarity for charity with Zach Hadel was funny. Zach Hadel is also in this game. It's a decent game with all the appeal in the dialogue. Either love the humor or hate it, and there's nothing else in the game to make up for it if you hate the humor.

This game was pretty good in my opinion. The comedy is the best part even when it doesn't land sometimes I still enjoy it. The shows/movies on the TV are hilarious. This game is full of jokes, easter eggs, breaking the 4th wall, and just a great time.
To be fair, there is a hidden cliffhanger in the end where the true villian is teased, that was a nice touch. you have to find a "secret" room for that.
Yeah, I stumbled into that in a YT video and felt bad that I missed it since I moved onto the DLC immediately, and realized after that I couldn't go back to the non DLC content without starting over. So, oh well, watching it on YT is fine.
Personally this game looks like it had some potential, I just kinda hoped that it would have had a little bit more effort on it. The designs look alright, but the gameplay looks pretty basic. If you want a Great fps game with terrible dialogue, you should check out Neon White. It has fun gameplay and creative gameplay. The writing is shit but gameplay wise, it’s a upgrade from High on Life.

The primary thing i found to be genuinely great writing wise, was that Doctor Joopy (or however you spell that) is indeed douglas, but if you have Gus out for the conversations, he will catch on that he is lying, and encourage you to shoot him, which if you do, you won't fight Douglas, but instead his suit on autopilot.
This game was funny for the first 30 minutes then i just wanted to skip every interaction because it's just the same that happened in that 30 minutes. And the gameplay is mid. The title is correct, more people should watch this really well put video instead of giving failed comedians more money then they need.

Joel Haver and Trent too. Their skits have semi-similar humor to Roiland but they have enough self-reflection and restraint to know not to rely solely on shock humor/swears for an entire skit. Joel's "Medieval RPG" series of skits is a great example of this.

Sometimes I just wanna play a game that doesn’t take itself so seriously and is just a genuinely fun wacky and unique experience. The game made me laugh a few times but the humor doesn’t always hit. It can be a little cringe at times but sometimes it’s pretty good.

The continous collaboration between Justin and Zach Hadel makes me kinda happy, it's both an internet based creator being recognized by a decently popular mainstream creator and Zach gaining industry ties( at least apparent ones, I'm sure he has others, he's been around but this is the most frequent and public instance of collaboration)
Edit:This comment in retrospect is both funny and horrific more than likely Zach knew nothing of the actions he's being tried for but I trust him enough and the recency of their relationship gives him the benefit of the doubt

My main reason for playing this was knowing Zach’s involvement as I don’t really watch Rick and morty. I was so happy to stumble across all the voices he plays. I did really enjoy the game though as well.
I hope Zach is involved in the next game. If High On Life had more of a Smiling Friends than Rick and Morty vibe I get the feeling more people than like, just me would be talking about it a year later
@@derflerp538Because Smiling Friends is surprisingly more tasteful than Rick and Morty and tends to laugh at itself alongside the audience. Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel aren't pretentious about the work they do.
I played this game off of game pass so I have zero complaints about it because I didn't spend 60 dollars on it.
My favorite part about it is the various differences you get for beating the game in different orders, using different guns to speak and what dialog/interactions you choose.
My favorite one is that if you use Gus while doing the Dr. Droppy section he'll catch him slipping up with the wrong name for his children and you can kill him early. You still have you fight him though the suit goes into autopilot.
Another one is if you side with Gene for the whole Tweeg side story when you go save your sister she brutally murdered him.

thanks for making this. this really serves the niche lot of us who love 'linear weapon navigation immersive sims', a genre we genuinely dont get enough of, yet are physically unable to debase ourselves to the dead horse flogging of Justin roilandisms for 4-10 hours. I love this genre so much that I really considered trying this game and just turning all the dialogue banter and volume as low as possible, but that just seems really sad. This game is an animated movie about halfway through the rewrites, a quarter of the animation, and just enough shooting to call it an FPS. It’s like we learned the wrong lessons from Borderlands 2.

It's a decent game with all the appeal in the dialogue. Either love the humor or hate it, and there's nothing else in the game to make up for it if you hate the humor.

I think it definitely stands as a good piece of art. I’m glad they made it. It’s very creative and “fun” with the ideas.
High on Life could be fun because the alien themes sorta work in the weird way Futurama does it, but Roland's humor is so bad. It's pretty much:
- Roland doing the Morty voice
- explaining what happened with excessive stammering as the joke
- Pee, cum, gentials and doo doo feces is the joke and in graphic detail
- Swearing all the time to drill into your head that "we're a game that ain't for kids and will totally piss off your grandpa", instead of, you know, swearing normally

This game was pretty good in my opinion. The comedy is the best part even when it doesn't land sometimes I still enjoy it. The shows/movies on the TV are hilarious.
This game is full of jokes, easter eggs, breaking the 4th wall, and just a great time.
To be fair, there is a hidden cliffhanger in the end where the true villian is teased, that was a nice touch. you have to find a "secret" room for that.
Yeah, I stumbled into that in a YT video and felt bad that I missed it since I moved onto the DLC immediately, and realized after that I couldn't go back to the non DLC content without starting over. So, oh well, watching it on YT is fine.
High On Life is definitely the type of game that's better consumed by watching a supercut of the highlights
Personally this game looks like it had some potential, I just kinda hoped that it would have had a little bit more effort on it. The designs look alright, but the gameplay looks pretty basic. If you want a Great fps game with terrible dialogue, you should check out Neon White. It has fun gameplay and creative gameplay. The writing is shit but gameplay wise, it’s a upgrade from High on Life.

I liked this game, there were some funny moments, and I liked the esthetic
The primary thing i found to be genuinely great writing wise, was that Doctor Joopy (or however you spell that) is indeed douglas, but if you have Gus out for the conversations, he will catch on that he is lying, and encourage you to shoot him, which if you do, you won't fight Douglas, but instead his suit on autopilot.

This game was funny for the first 30 minutes then i just wanted to skip every interaction because it's just the same that happened in that 30 minutes. And the gameplay is mid. The title is correct, more people should watch this really well put video instead of giving failed comedians more money then they need.
