    I have worked in the DRC in resorts and my experience was that if a travel agent called to put in a request, we either added it or just confirmed that the request was there. Calling the agents a bunch of times doesn’t increase your chances. We always gave them same spiel.

Also, you’re so right about the weather! We had 2 cold days and 5 days that were in the 80’s! Very glad I packed our swim gear. We stayed at a Skyliner resort and it was so nice not having to break down the stroller! By far my favorite mode of transportation! Thanks again for all the great advice! It’s so interesting how different everyone’s experiences can be. Port Orleans Riverside was a resort I stayed at solo in October and despite having stayed at many deluxe resorts (I’m a DVC member), I’d have to say Riverside is in my top 5! I think what makes you worried about it is what actually makes me comforted, because I grew up in a log cabin so that woodsy vibe is so familiar haha! I definitely could see why it might make someone second guess staying there. My husband on the other hand doesn’t want to stay anywhere where the rooms are motel style and open up to the outside because he doesn’t find that safe, even at Disney haha

    Just got back from a 8 day split vacation with my family. First night we stayed at the animal kingdom lodge (Jambo house), we weren’t impressed with that one at all. I didn’t like how dark the whole resort felt and it wasnt as big as I expected it to be. Then the next 4 nights at the Poly. We absolutely loved it there, room was great we were in the moorea building witch is super close to TTC. We loved that it was close to the ferry boats and monorails, also our room was on the end so we could see the castle and fireworks without the bungalows blocking the view. Didn’t have the crowd problem at all but could’ve just been the week we stayed. Then last 2 nights we stayed at Coronado springs in the grand destino tower witch was also really nice. It’s on the level of a deluxe imo but it’s moderate, only down fall is the transportation but if u don’t mind buses I highly recommend that resort even if your room isn’t in the tower. Trip of a lifetime, we had so much fun! Also Beach Club is bucket list next for us! We love that resort, cape may character breakfast is vastly underrated imo.

    Agree 💯with your review of the Polynesian. It’s so busy, the lobby is almost unusable at any time of the day. The Poly beach for fireworks view is actually the worst of all the resort fireworks viewing areas.
    It’s disappointing because I loved the Poly before I stayed there.
    You nailed it, the Polynesian has become a tourist attraction and makes it difficult to enjoy as a hotel guest. I say this as a person who enjoys and partakes in lounges, adult beverages and travels to Disney as an adult.

    We stayed at the Polynesian last week and fortunately we did not encounter the parties that you did. If you ever encounter that again, there is a very quiet spot with picnic tables near Pago Pago that you could take takeout to. Just back from my stay at the Polynesian and was shocked with the night time crowds as well. The guests deserve the best experience.

  • @gl990
    @gl990 6 місяців тому

    I have stayed at the Poly countless times since the 1980s. Some days of the week or times of year are more intense than others, but it has definitely gotten more popular with the nighttime crowd over the years. I think with its hefty price tag, a lot of guests want to squeeze out every experience they can while they’re there and the Poly offers a lot of appealing activities. While the Poly does not have a convention center, the other two monorail resorts do, so that can add to the crowd. The Poly is also a hot spot for DCP kids just in general, but there is a tradition of going to watch fireworks on the beach at the Poly the first night of either move-in at Flamingo Crossings or maybe when they complete Traditions training (I can’t remember which it is.). So you’ve got a combination of guests, visitors from other resorts, and local traffic.
