It is an incredibly easy jig to use. It takes an hour or two to calibrate it properly, but once that's done, you never have to do it again.

I agree, and the best part is, even as a newbie woodworker, I come away from a video confident that I could spend $225 for the two jigs, and be doing this to an acceptable standard in a few days, thanks to technology!
Most of these guys, especially the hand tool only woodworkers, and it is a little depressing knowing I'll never get to the skill level to do those things in the 4 or 5 hours a week I have to tinker with wood. :(

I'm making a cross cut sled for my router today for cutting the bullnoses, I don't have a box joint jig, but plan to use my Incra Jig and right angle fixture to make the box cuts.
(I suppose it might be easier inserting and releasing the hinge pin if you use a little Carnauba, or beeswax on it, also between the hinge knuckles before final assy).

Hi nice to look at just keep them away of moist atmosphere as the wood can expand and tighten up.
Oh, a blade guard... that's what that plastic thingy was for. I got rid of that sucker that day I got it ;) Great video Guy. It is funny about that jig. If you don't use it for a while, you have to go watch a video to remember how to use it. Thanks Guy.
HaHa. Yeah, the blade guard. I actually found it pretty useful for also helping align the pieces in the jig.

Hola amigo . Exelente herramienta boy a comprarla pero me puede ayudar con estas preguntas, 1 la herramienta de incra llega con la broca para la perfiracion y q grosor es la broca . 2 el diametro de circulo de la bisagra. 3 llega con la fresa de router o como la pido . Gracias
You've got some of the coolest tools, Guy! 😊 Those hinges are awesome. A bit large but gorgeous, nonetheless. They can make quite a statement!
HaHa. Cool tools are my thing :) I can see myself using thes hinges in a lot of different projects. They are a little larger than an iron or brass hinge. However since they are wood, they tie into the project better.

Can you make a box with the Hinge being the actual top lid without making it into a separate hinge that needs to be glued on top? Possibly by leaving the leaf long enough to cover the box?

It will have no strength if you use long grain side. It will crack right away.
Do the hinges sqeek. I would love to make full length for man doors, I know drilling holes is limited to 6" but I've seen other ways to get hole down threw there

Can I use the Incra "Wonder Fence" attachment using the router attachment on Incra TS LS 32 to do what the I-Box does?
Yes if you have the router table in the wing of the saw.
Guy, like you I am a BIG fan of Incra precision. I own the LS Positioner and the Hingecrafter. Do you find an appreciable value in time and precision when using the I-Box to cut box joints over the LS Positioner on the router table? Jim
Thanks Jim. To be honest with you, this is the first project I have ever used box joints on. I really like the I Box, and it was easy as heck to make the box joints with. Knowing what I know about the LS positioner, I don't see one being easier over the other.

Thanks Max! Very easy process, and I can knock out a set of these in aboout an hour. The first time took a little longer, but now that I have done it 4 or 5 times, it goes pretty quick

Is there a reason why you use a table saw instead of a router with the jig? Frankly, I have the I box but I never liked it. The ibox requires moving the wood and reclamping for each cut vs clamping once and moving the clamped unit of work to the next position.
I just felt it was easier to do it that way. This was my first time making box joints, and found the iBox very easy to use once set up. I really can't compare it to any other method or jig.
Cool products. You should turn down the volume on your clips w power tools btw the audio is way off

hi Guy, I would like to start out saying that i look forward to any and all videos you put out. with that being said; What the frig dude? WOW!! way too long, Im sure that you could have gotten away with some of those step's... lol no disrespect but i had to hit the snooze button on that one. I'm hoping you win me over on your next installment. lol I can guarantee you that 95% of woodworkers will never make those. and the fact that you used 15k in tools to make some wooden hinges is kinda sad. sorry guy, just missed me this time i guess.

In reviewing the thumbs up/down, roughly and maybe ironically, "95%" of the people who voted liked this video. I can't help but wonder how your 95% guarantee was calculated as it sounds arbitrary and baseless. Like my great grandpa liked to say: you snooze, you lose.

Have made several after watching this video, it adds a little personal touch to the boxes I make. Yes, the the Hingecrafter is a tad bit expensive but ANY HOBBIE has its cost. I bought the I-Box first and learned how to use it until I felt comfortable with it to make beautiful finger joint boxes and used ugly store bought hinges. I watched this video and thought i could do the same thing and add little "WOW" factor to my custom made boxes (Not to mention add a few extra dollars to the cost). Customers love them, I enjoy making them so the cost is mute to me. Fine craftsman ship isn't just a hobby, its a labor of love. Like the modified sign says, "Fine Woodworking labor is beautiful BUT isn't cheap --- and cheap woodworking labor isn't beautiful." I take pride in what I make and sale.
