Reddit also has certain job/freelancing related subreddits (both design related and general) where both clients and freelancers can post about the services they want or services they provide. I actually started freelancing and made my first dollar through there! Back then i used to do pretty much everything (graphics, animation, 3d, music, coding and even electronics lol) for freelancing there. Now that I'm trying to increase my income and I've niched down a lot, I'm not using it a lot. But I still got few long term connections from there, some of which I have a very good connection with now!
That's great to hear! Glad that you were able to start there even if it was doing everything. I love that you then niched down and were able to increase your income.
@@4TheCreatives I haven't increased the income yet 😅 I meant I'm on that path. It has been rough financially but I've actually refused a lot of opportunities because they weren't in the niche I want to grow in. I get compliments with the niched down work I show to people, but I still can't get to charge the rate I want. Maybe I'm attracting companies with very small budget.
@@artekal3d It takes time to build up clients that will pay higher prices. Try looking into referrals and getting in front of other companies audiences instead of just looking in groups.
@@4TheCreatives yes that makes sense. That's what I'm trying to do now, while trying to improve things that I clearly know requires improvement. The problem with small freelance work I did before was that I don't even know if I solved any problems for their business or not or even if they were business owners. So, I can't quite use the old work for a case study or something for proof, which could become a problem in gaining trust. But I know i'm thinking too much so I'm focusing on things I can improve right now :))
@@artekal3d I totally get what you mean! It would be cool to go back to a few of your favorite projects and see how things are going now for those clients. It could lead to at least one client case study.
This was really helpful, thank you! I am currently applying for funding and wonder if you have also done any videos specifically focused on that and writing good design based business plans, cashflow and personal survival budgets? Thanks :)
Hello Toni! I have never talked about funding and haven't dived deep into cashflow and budgets on UA-cam (I go into business plans in my coaching program). I have done a lot on pricing specifically and how to ensure you are pricing to survive such as this one: ua-cam.com/video/93EvuXBufss/v-deo.html&ab_channel=4TheCreatives
I'm reaching out from Bangladesh, identifying myself as a graphic designer. You're likely aware of the significant presence of Bangladeshi designers in this global profession. I'm seeking valuable information from you that can help me achieve success in my career as a graphic designer. I recognize your expertise as a high-quality UA-camr, known for your effective teaching. I'm hopeful that you'll respond to my message and share some essential tips for connecting with potential clients. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Lol... it is a constant debate. But here is what the dictionary says: niche | niCH, nēSH | So it could be either. Some people get very irritated when I say "nitch" but it can technically be either :)

Great advice, I don't think I'm on enough platforms, I will trying things like pinterest
Sounds good!
I am confused among UI UX design, packaging design and brand identity design. So what can I do? Do I try my hands on each or stick to one?
Which do you have the skills in now?
Still in college. 3 months to go not sure where to even start. They are just teaching us the basics of Adobe
Are you learning anything about design fundamentals at all?
@@4TheCreatives briefly. I am not buisness savvy
Most designers aren’t! But are you getting confident in your design skills at least?
@4 The Creatives it will become a future career / hobby

Thanks for your comment. Have you ever read about marketing or established who your target audience is?
Do Americans pronounce ‘Niche’ as ‘Nitch’ rather than ‘Neesh’?
Great suggestions btw
