MTA New York City Bus & MTA Bus Company: The 1998-1999 Nova Bus RTS-06 Units.

Here we have a compilation video focusing on the 1998-1999 Nova Bus RTS-06 Bus units operating for MTA New York City Bus and MTA Bus Company. The video focuses on the units running along various local bus routes and subway shuttle services in The Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island in between 2013 and 2017. The 1998-1999 Nova Bus RTS-06 Units are numbered 4900-5249. Unlike the previous two Nova-produced units, these RTS have two transmission options. All units have a Detroit Diesel Series 50 DDEC Engine. However, units 4900-5075 and 5125-5249 have an Allison VR-731 ATEC Transmission while units 5076-5124 have a ZF ECOMAT-2 HP-592C Transmission. Unit 5075 originally had the ZF Transmission, however the bus got retrofitted with the standard Allison transmission from a retired TMC RTS back in 2011 when a transmission conversion was planned for the units. So, while the basic RTS' are still spread out between various depots, the ZF Transmission RTS' are housed at the Ulmer Park depot.
At this time, this RTS batch has more units active than the 1996 and 1998 units.
The depots represented in this compilation video are the 126 Street, Eastchester, East New York, Flatbush, Grand Avenue, Jamaica, LaGuardia, Michael J. Quill, Ulmer Park, and West Farms. Some buses were loaned to Manhattanville and Tuskegee Airmen depots.
Note from 2021: All of these buses were retired as of May 2019. Unit 5249 has been preserved by the New York City Transit Museum while unit 5227 was sold to a private owner.
