A better procedure is to drill small matching holes on each side of the split skull plate for its entire length, then 'stitch' the skull back together using braided picture hanging wire, pulling it tight with pliers as each 'stitch' is put in place. After this is complete, a smear five minute epoxy over the underside and top of the skull plate, locking the wire sutures in place. I then use six screws to attach it to the antler block.
