Telling Time in Italian

- When visiting Italy, you'll probably want to keep a tight schedule, as there's so much to see and eat! You may have to ask someone what time it is or ask what time something is going to happen, and of course you'll have to understand their response, so let's learn how to tell time in Italian, both generally by time of day, and also the exact time.
Script by Patrizia Farina, Professor of Italian at Western Connecticut State University and Purchase College.

Thank you for just getting to the point. Sometimes language tutorials have a lot of distracting chatter and it's hard to focus on what's important. You know how to organize all this information in such a logical way and you can still be very funny.

thanks! My gf is italian and she and her whole family say that they don't do the rounding up and then minus whatever minutes are left. They were all laughing when I told them that I learned this from two different videos. They just say the number for the minutes and that's all there is to it. What is your take on this?
Nah I've heard Italians do it. But either way is totally fine.
Hey, Dave, thanks for posting this awesome course! It seems like there are several videos missing, however - starting with #98. Any idea what the problem is?
i release one every monday, don't worry you'll get them all!
ciao, io sono italiano, bella spiegazione
Io sono italiano e meta nigeriano
thaank you
RRR
we need more exercises, please
i have a question please.
why do we use the verb "sono" when asking about the time?
i presume you found out, but for others: sono is the present tense 3rd person plural form of essere (to be) or, in short, sono is 'they are'. this is because there are multiple hours if it's 2 o'clock (or higher). it will seem strange because in english we say the TIME IS, but in italian we're asking what the HOURS ARE - we're counting the hours.
hope i could explain okay i started learning italian just earlier this week but i know some spanish and it's the same system with that too lol
sir explain string theory
grazie even we arab say 17:00 insted of 5 bud we use both of them
❤️My comment
quattro di pomeriggio
nove (insert word for thirty here)cinque
deici (insert word for to) sei
God idk why people say a quarter til two or half past noon like... is it really that hard to say 12:30? or noon? it makes no sense to me at all lmao
