If Etsy advertise your product to the wrong people, even though they get your money, but they might lose customers business. It’s a Etsy’s best interest to make sure that the right product is shown to the right customer. And there’s a great responsibility from the seller to make sure that happens.
@@thetalkshop yeah. that's why accurate and honest titles / keywords are so important. both of our points of view are true and exist at the same time. etsy ads are still just free no cost income for etsy. they feature sellers in searches that sell well for their main income stream but make bank off of people running ads. both are part of the algorithm. it's misleading to say etsy focuses on getting sales when they clearly make bank on things that are not selling through their ads system. their clicks are way overpriced compared to other platforms too. once you pay for ads you can also forget about natural traffic if you turn ads off. new post/products do get a bump even without ads but it's a small bump.
By the way, I spent 300,000 on one of my Etsy shops, not all of them lol
The most important point you never mentioned. What was your return in the 300k ads. Usually for every 100 dollars I spend in an add I get $200 dollars but the average price of my item is about $350 dollars. Also there is the law of the diminishing return so I spend $30 a day but if I spend $60 a day I will not double my return.
Needless to say your SEO, number of sales , feedbacks, number of listings, daily activity and so on will help your ETSY adds further as far as ranking your listings better. For some people who sell low cost items I believe Etsy adds becomes too expensive. Having said that it will eventually help your shop organically even if you have only few sales. It is more like a small booster for the new shops created at Etsy.
I was wondering the same; at this time he should have been able to purchase a house then, at least in theory.
And "I just realized that I spent $..." doesn't sound as planning, but anyway, he's sharing his story as an entrepreneur with no business background as the majority of people, so I can understand.

Hi. I sell several types of items, including items under $10. My rule is to stop advertising an item if the spend is higher than 50% of the item's prices without sales or if the ROAS is under 3 for a number of clicks over 20. These are rules that I apply for all my advertised items. Of course, I do monitor my Etsy ads performance daily, including the Keywords for those with most clicks, so I can disable underperforming listings and eventually add new ones in Etsy Ads.
They spend like 10% of my ad budget, is their anyway I can increase it?
Thank you for your videos. These are mid sellers probably as I barely make any sells and my ads budget is 3 $ a day. My data is not enough to make such conclusions.
Is advertising by highest bidder? Does Etsy control when and who sees your ad? Everyone says it is useless, don't bother. How much of that $300K was curious competition?
No the algorithm will rank your ad separately. So if your product is not appropriate, then you just won’t rank on the ads portion of Etsy. Which means your advertisement might be dead in the water and you won’t spend much
If Etsy wanted you to be successful with ads, they would add the ability to specify negative keywords and the ability to bid on specific keyphrases set by the user. It’s all about milking your money. It’s about their profit, not yours.

@@thetalkshopthey do now but it is flawed. I keep having to change it after only running about 6 key items. Also since I just opened up after being on vacation for 2.5 years I'm practically new again. I've had one sale and sort of worried about coming back in. The nice thing about ads on etsy is it is a tax right off.

Hey I know this is off topic from the video but I was wondering if you had any advice for what I should do with my Etsy shop.
Its a small Etsy shop with 3-4 listing in it so it is not worked on a lot. The main issue though is that I left the shop inactive for about a year or so. I came back because a friend and I decided that we wanted to start making some money from a side hustle, to which I told him that I had already made an Etsy shop a while back that I had never really worked on. There are a couple problems though: First, my listings got deactivated. I'm not sure if this is because of the payment or not because I would have thought it would go under the expired category, not the deactivated. Second, I want to try and revive the shop but I don't know if I should. I'm fairly certain (but not 100% sure) that if you leave a shop inactive for that long your going to struggle getting back into the algorithm. So I want to know if I should scrap the shop or if I should try and revive it? Since I already have the minimum listings, shop banner, and a pleasing logo & name so I don't really want to start over. So if you can help me out, what do you think I should do with the shop?
The theory that says, new shops, or fresher, shops do better than old shops. This is not entirely true, I know this because I tested that myself. Unless you have issues with reviews, you should not have any issues growing that Etsy shop.

I run ads at only $1 a day because I'm not getting much sales so can't afford to spend a higher amount, when should I review the favourites chart and determine which listings to turn off when I'm only get 2 clicks a day at the most?
I’m your case first I would be patient. But second I would go super heavy in to product research to see where traffic is and have a strategy to target that traffic. Strategy will then drive your listing
