Desert for thylas and basilisk tend to spawn in pairs. I find they spawn in the most awkward areas like the tip of the top of the volcano.
I was writing about the fact that there are a bunch of thylas in the desert, and then you said " Did I find a thyla in the desert? I did! Let's head over there."

I heard that imprinted Stegos are good for this boss especially if you want to get close and blast it with a shotgun. The hardened mode (I think) should prevent dismounts.
All modes actually prevent dismounts (except form nets). Hardened give 50% damage reduction as well
My brother and I rode stegos while our Rexs fought. It's nice being basically immune, but the stegos are slow, and not much help in the fight. If you have good rexs, and worried about getting dismounted and killed, then they do their job.
I got a breeding pair of max level Tek Stegosaurus and ended up with a lvl 295 from the cross that I'm planning to ride into this battle. Was thinking of trying Allosaurus with Yutyrannus on auto courage for Alpha

I grapple up the center pillar to a small ledge about half way up with a fab sniper. You can grapple up and down to avoid grenades while your dinos do their thing. I did bring a max level imprinted Managarmr set on agressive to deal with minions but in all the chaos I don't know if it did much.
Yeah I love when the game just throws awesome things at you when you are either a) doing something else, or b) preparing to go to bed. x.x

The monkeys seem like an awful boss tame because the their armor comes from the helmet which can be broken and he does high damage to armor. Saddles can't be broken so they are infinitely better

The unicorn was actually the key to the boss fight. Ark was testing you😂😂
The alpha is a nightmare. I got it in the end but holy hell, it was hard and close. My rex arme, my first try , got absolutely shreded( 40k health 1200melee 120 saddle) i died often to the grenades of the boss, as they got stuck ontop of my yutiranus. I got near maxed flak , so around 2k dura a pice and it broke near instant at the grenate( plus it did around 300 damage to me). My next try was a dinopiticus arme whit maxed flak helmets ( dura wise , around 1k armor) they broke 3/4 throug and they dropped like flys. 1 survived and my yuti deffinetly helped on that. I almost died multibe times. They had 40k health and 1,2k melee. My "win" was by far more luck then anything else. I honestly have no idea how to do it "easy" like the rest of them. And yes the minions focused on my yuti.
Max flak dura is over 2000 so you had nowhere near max

That area you keep lagging in, is it near the coast with a small pond just past the beach area? If so then yes, there is a cave there. The entrance to it is on the cliff side at the pond's edge.
Between this and your cluster series(just finished watching the episode were you celebrated 3 years on youtube) I'm set for the rest of 2022. Seriously tho, amazing youtuber with the best ark content. Let's get this guy to 2 million subscribers before middle of year!!
Scary when you know how mutated and OP syntacs dinos are and even he struggles with the boss I'm finna get my shit clapped lol
A dino with 30k HP and a 1000 durability helmet has 46k effective HP. That same dino with a 100 armor saddle has 150k effective HP. Because of the way this works in ARK, I don't think any dino that uses a helmet is viable for the alpha boss fight.
Armor rating?
@@krisskross3 It isn't very intuitive, but the armor rating on the helmets ends up making essentially no difference over the course of a boss fight. Every 16 points of damage absorbed by the helmet takes off one durability point. Helmets on dinos also use the saddle armor calculations, so they are effectively 4 times better at blocking damage than they would be on a player.
This is how it plays out:
If you have a 1000 durability helmet (which is very rare) and it has 100 armor, it will absorb 80% of the incoming damage until it breaks, which will be after 19200 damage (3200 to the dino, 16000 to the helmet). If that same helmet has 400 armor rating, it will absorb ~94% of the incoming damage until it breaks which is after about 16940 damage (940 to the dino, 16000 to the helmet).
After that point, the dino takes 100% of damage from all attacks and dies pretty quickly. If you are super brave, you can try running around and replacing helmets as they break... but I'm not that brave. I have always wanted to use gigantopithecus for boss fights since they can now wear hats, but I kept running up against this durability issue.

As a warning:
I play difficulty 10. I had level 700+ tek rexes with 100k health and 5000% melee. 655% tek saddles to boot. And the alpha dinopith king killed all of them. Yuty buffed as well.

The monkeys have a bleed if you do the alpha roar. Not sure I saw that being done. Would help with killing the boss, but the location on the second fight seamed nicely picked.

On The Island for me, every time a Titanosaur spawned it would drop from the sky like that. Never seen it happen with Spinos, though. So silly. XD

The beta dinopithecus king hits really hard even though i have already beaten it, I am scared of alpha though
I once found a lvl180 Unicorn on the Island. Went out to tame it and a friend tags along. We arrive at the spawn, get off our mounts. His Dino was set to aggressive though. Watching what unfolded in the next few seconds were a an absolute nightmare to watch.
Random name - not necessarily for a specific dino but it’s from Avatar the Last Airbender - ‘Foo Foo Cuddlypoops’ the name for a baby sabertooth moose lion.
I reckon it might be good for a Ferox (cause the baby is cute but the mum is beastly)

Played on a super boosted server so thought this boss on alpha would be easy. Brought a rex to ride that was op and my friend brought his insane mana. We didn’t know how hard it was and I got absolutely wrecked. Got poop debuffed, frozen, and armor negated then was quickly stunned off my Rex and one shot with the op armor. We were on difficulty 10 but wholly god this boss is crazy. Great skills and I love how u always try to finish the fight even when all ur hard work creatures get smashed ❤️. I definitely recommend bringing something that can get around the arena easily if u don’t ride a Yuty. We couldn’t fly with sinos either so I assume u can bring a mana in on official. Good luck

Has anyone else had an issue with all the bee hives breaking and turning into wandering queens? It happened on the island for me and i cants fix it

Well, with the yuty you would at least have the fear roar aswell and I think that helps a lot too. I will do it with an army of rexes and one yuty. Monkeys are fun in general but the fact they get like somewhat numb when hit is annoying and therefor costed me a lot of nerves and some deaths xd

So it isnt just me having issues with basilisks. I tried taming one and it was invisible when above ground. My friend could see it but i could not. Made trapping it a pain. Then it wouldnt eat the eggs i threw down.

Leave render distance then come back, the next time they surface, they will be above ground :)

I used spinos and they did rather well I tried therizinos and they did pretty bad but they didn't have the most op stats

Yea i was building an outpost in swamps and boom a max bary with pretty colors(Christmas is still active on the server) and I had to tame it
It's my Achilles heel
And this video is the perfect example of why I'm upset the monkey got in (from the vote specifically)... it's not a good creature beyond running around and having fun. I'm not going to try and criticize someone's opinion of fun, but it cannot be used in a serious/difficult pve scenario beyond the creature size glitch for caves. I don't know how it stacks up in pvp with the tek-disabling poop, but judging by how other creatures tend to do in pvp, it's not good.
Its a fairly new boss so it still has adjustments to be done. I wreck him using a Spino army. Get him surrounded while every dino has a constant water buff and it just shreds him

Sadly the water in that arena doesn't give the spinos the water buff, but spinos would still work for fighting it just won't get the benefits.
So, two things. 1. YES, I get massive lag spikes in the cleared spot by the redwoods (also between the redwoods and swamp at the kind of plains part.) and 2. In the plains area, I may have found an interesting bug with Rex’s spawning way over the level in my server. My level cap on my console is 150 and I found two female rexes for 395 and 365. Anyone else found something like that in the plains kind of area by the redwoods?
on PC in my single player world, I had a level 256 rex in that same area my highest level is like 76 or something.
Ye, I play with max lvl 150 and I’ve so far found a 495 alpha rex, then a 490 and 440 regular rex
