Adam I’m so happy that you are covering ALL THIS. I love that you are here for Oliver who is still basically a kid. Turning 18 isn’t just automatically making you a adult so thank you. Keep standing with the other people involved. Your a incredible young man.
@@trump_will_lose_againjust turned 18 and im here to let you know that the feeling doesn’t stop. i feel clueless to adult things and yet legally i am one. i hear you😭😭
Yh i was a mature 18 yr old but having kids myself one whos 15 i see 18 too young. Only seems yesterday 18 yr olds were created. Oliver is a baby still but a sweet soul
it's insane jessica says she'll use an "abundance of caution" for her kids but then film their first periods or them in swimsuits for actual strangers to watch....
There must have been sexual abuse in the Ballinger family growing up, it explains Trent and Colleen's behaviour. The relationship between the Miranda character and her 'Uncle' is very clearly is based on trauma. Very very sad, but not an excuse for their disgusting predatory behaviour now. I honestly hope to see them behind bars for the damage they've caused.
I've had the same thought. The cycle of abuse is called a cycle for a reason. Their trauma isn't their fault, but it is their responsibility to work through.
As someone who went through sexual abuse in the family and has worked on my trauma while other family members haven’t… this is my first thought about the Ballinger situation. A cycle of abuse, it’s extremely common as it’s hard to break from. But there is no excuse, it is the responsibility of the family members.
While i'd be sympathetic if that was the case, the creepy uncle trope is for some ungodly reason a really common gag, especially in media around when Colleen was probably developing the character, let alone that Miranda was based on other people. Abuse is commonly a cycle but frankly, terrible people can exist without having bad things happen to/around them.
There's clearly something really disturbing that's been going on in that family generationally with how much they've tried to normalize creepy aunt/uncle stuff, and how normal they seem to think inappropriate/no-boundaries behavior around children is.
Agreed, it feels like only H3 and Adam remember to mention Oliver these days. Even Swoop, as much as I love her; I’d hoped she would talk more about Oliver in her doc series. Adam consistently adds Oliver’s name to any list of victims he reads and Ethan from H3 takes any opportunity to say he considers Trent scum. No one else seems to remember Oliver
@@kellywolstenholme8134 totally agreed, I have seen Oliver's story be swept under the rug since the story broke. I appreciate Ethan for bringing up Trent as one of the WORST in this situation. I really thought Swoop would be covering him. maybe she is planning to though, I hope so
In my early 20s I was in a uni club, and there was a guy who was ‘more’ disabled, both physically and mentally than Trent. I hadn’t even met him, but one day I got an inappropriate message from him. I let a mutual friend know and she said this is a habit of his, he was aware it was wrong and inappropriate but people kept letting it slide because of his disability. Most people with mental disabilities are not creeps or paedofiles. Most of them are aware where the line is, or are helped to understand that line by carers or loved ones. Trent KNEW what he was doing, and the family clearly knew to some degree too.
@@FBI.Open.Up. I think it was said before that the family wanted to prevent him from being around children but still took him to Colleen's shows. Not sure if they felt that he would be supervised due to familial presence at the shows so they didn't enforce it there. Who knows, they may have slipped up with the internet communication since that is more hidden than an in person public encounter with Colleen fans.
That's more the problem of the adults meant to supervise them. If they are actually disabled they wouldn't know better and need to be reminded of that by supervising adults. They DONT know better that's why they are disabled. If they KNOW better they wouldn't be disabled. A major issue should be brought to the attention of people who are caregiving for that person and if they don't seem to care or let it slide bring it to the attention of some type of authority. My mom worked with disabled adults for a living. And had to deal with someone with tendencies like that. She had to constantly keep him away from people. But that was her job. I feel the sentiment of what you're saying but don't agree with the fact that they know better. They are literally mentally disabled of delayed.
@@FukaiKokoro I see what you’re saying, but don’t necessarily agree. You don’t need to be able to fully comprehend the meaning of your actions when being predatory to know inherently that it’s wrong. Trent inherently knew it was wrong to a degree - telling Ollie to not tell anyone about their conversation, and telling Ollie that his family said he shouldn’t message young teenagers. Of course there’s a responsibility on his parents too, but it’s not as though he had pure intentions or wasn’t aware that what he was doing was wrong.
@@FukaiKokoroyeah that's absolutely not true. Having a cognitive or developmental disability does not automatically mean the person is incapable of understanding. There are plenty of disabled individuals who do not act this way and do not, as adults, require adult supervision like they are still a child. It's clear from Trent's exchanges with Oliver that he new what he was doing- this doesn't mean that he's not actually disabled, it means that his disability doesn't have anything to do with his actions in this situation beyond the people in his life using it as an excuse to infantalize him and downplay his predatory behavior, further enabling it.
This is such a big deal. A member of the family validating Oliver's story, even if it was unintentional. The Ballinger's should not be allowed to sweep any of this under the rug!
It’s ableist and so disrespectful 2 people w disabilities 2 use Trent’s as an excuse. It’s implying being disabled can turn people into predators which isn’t true.
With all this stuff coming out my heart can't help but break for Colleen and Jessica's children. If Trent was acting like this online, who's to say he wasn't doing worse stuff with Bailey, Jacob or Parker
I’ve never clicked on a video so fast. That whole family is a wreck and they all need to be off of the internet and face consequences for their actions. I’m firmly on your side and the side of all of the other victims. I hope your move is going well.
Taking a big step like this with their kids would not go unnoticed by the rest of the family. Family members typically want to avoid making big rifts like this in the family. There's a chance this was done without creating a rift in the family because the rest of the family understands why. They all know something we don't, about Trent.
This right here...I've been a foster kid and knew kids from all different walks of life. Someone didn't report a kids uncle for what they did to them as a toddler and when they grew older ( think this boy was 8 or 9 ) he told on his uncle, they investigated and his parents were also locked up for covering, destroying evidence. That's why he ended up in the home I was in. There's just something not right here...there is this sick feeling I have about this whole thing. Cause family don't ask thier kids that stuff unless something happened before inside the family and it escalated to outside the home...
It was my understanding that the family definitely knew about Trent years ago and that they took him offline specifically because they were made aware of him being inappropriate with minors. If I remember correctly there was a message posted from Trent to Oliver explaining why his family stepped in and restricted his internet access so they absolutely knew.
It's incredibly fucked that she's trying to use his developmental delays as an excuse. They tried that shit with the kid who stalked and tried to rape me and the proceeded to rape several of his family members and family friends. There's absolutely no excuse, if your child is that much of a threat to society you get them put in a private care facility for people that are dangers to themselves or others. I'm incredibly happy you are continuing to bring light to this.. I feel for Oliver so much, being that child myself, it's horrific and he's just barely an adult now. I hope they're getting the help they need because that's not trauma you should hold alone. Also it's incredibly fucked that they're willing to throw one person under the bus but their meal ticket who's just as bad as Trent, nah she's a angel and could never do any wrong. It goes to show that they're definitely only defending Colleen because they know without it they'll get cut off from her "success"
I am so sorry for what you went through. I hope you are dealing with everything okay. I also agree with you about dangerous people like him being in private care facilities. Too many people get away with so many crimes just because they have a disability, and as a fellow disabled person, its utter rubbish. I know of someone who has r*ped his sister, some boys at boarding school and also done things to animals as well as being extremely vi*lent towards anyone that is smaller or weaker than him. He doesn't do it to anyone bigger or stronger than him- he knows who to target. He knows exactly what he's doing, but the moment the police come to question him, he throws his hands in the air before the police even say a word to him and he says "I can't help it, I've got Aspergers!" And as soon as the police find out hes got aspergers, they leave him be. His mother has even pleaded with the police for them to take him away and hold him accountable for his crimes, but they refuse. Its disgraceful.
I'm sorry that happened to you first. Also, thank you, I said that on another video and totally agree that they're trying to scapegoat him. He is a horrid person but they all seem like awful people and it makes me wonder what was going on in their parents house. Why are Colleen and so many of her siblings predators?! That's abnormal and points to a deeper family issue. I just keep getting more and more concerned for the kids they have. 😢
@@abbybrown638 it's not your place to apologize but thank you🖤 and exactly! I messaged Adam but I didn't expect a reply I had looked up Trent's records for the hell of it and he has police records that from what I could tell aren't looking good for him. I couldn't unlock it at the time because I was flat broke but, it seems like it's something that's been going on longer than Colleen has been well known. It's scary,
@@Dave102693 thank you🖤 yeah sadly I was groomed by another and assaulted by 2 others guys, one was Dahvie vanity and another was a family friend so while the trauma does exist with this, because I couldn't leave my house for over a yr without him being out there, most of it stems from other incidents. My dad saved my life from that POS. He had the gull to come to my dad and tell him to "have her meet me in the woods at 10pm" my dad at that point finally had enough and pulled out a weapon (rhymes with mew mew idk if it'll get removed if I say it) and told him "no I don't think I will and don't you ever show your face around here again or you will be leaving in a ambulance" and thats when he did stop but we found out a couple months after that, that was his tactic to assault victims. Is get them alone in the woods or a basement. My dad is absolutely my hero who knows what could've happened if he didn't go to his last resort.
Jessica has no idea how damning it is what she has done for trent here. she basically just admitted to the internet that she asked her children if her brother has touched them (inappropriately). my god.
So if Jessica believes Oliver’s story then why not believe everyone else??? It’s selective empathy and I don’t like it. I hope Oliver is doing okay. I’m proud of him too.
@@sup.im.angelina I agree with you but let’s face it, I feel, if she cherry picks what she wants to say or possibly believe then I feel that she has admitted to what actually happened. I’m so tired of this family not taking any responsibility for what they have done!! It was wrong and my heart goes out to the victims of their abuse.
I get the feeling they believe it happened but don’t believe most of the things to be an issue… like they don’t believe the trauma it caused or that grooming without sa is really a thing. Shut don’t speak out because public opinion is obviously different
i really hate when people use disabilities to excuse behavior. my neighbor had a developmental disability and gave a 13 year old girl his number (he was 50) and told her to text him and was just being a creep. he would come outside whenever her and her friends were out and he would ask for their numbers and get upset when they said no. obviously her father wasn’t okay with this and basically told off the man’s family. and i had an experience being sexually harassed by a kid with a disability when i was in middle school and it was traumatizing. i seriously hate it when people use it as an excuse because it makes victims feel less valid/afraid to speak up.
Exactly! It's not an excuse. And if someone with a disability truly can't comprehend what they are doing is wrong then it's the other adults responsibility to either teach them or put them in a place were they can receive the help and care they need but aren't a danger to themselves or others.
Literally. As someone who is deaf and otherwise disabled - that’s not a fucking excuse. It’s a dangerous narrative that enables people to be weirdos and creeps and it’s NOT a common practice within the disability community. We don’t support that whatsoever
The person with disabilitys isn't to blame. It's the adults meant to supervise them who is. The families need to realize they aren't capable of properly supervising them and give them a caregiver who can properly supervise or put in a day care place where they can be properly watched.
I’ve been pretty disappointed with the lack of coverage and focus (not from you, Adam, but other channels covering and doing deep dives) on Oliver’s experience. If Oliver is comfortable with it being shared I feel it is something that should be spread as loudly as the Colleen issues - Trent may not be famous but he was able to do what he did bc of his sisters fame.
When you said “uncle Trent” that just made me think of all the uncle jokes Colleen tells. Like I wonder what their uncles did to them omg I can’t believe that Jessica asked her kids that’s insane
Someone I went to school with for years was a serial assaulter, he would touch girls without permission often. He was never expelled. The girls were told "he's special" and "has autism" so he "can't help it." I am so tired of people making excuses for predators. Developmental Delays or not, people know what's right and wrong. Trent knew it was wrong.
I agree my son has a serious developmental disability and he’s 7 and he understands that our bodies belong to us and we don’t touch others and they can’t touch us etc. if he could not be appropriate with others then it would be MY responsibility as caregiver to set boundaries. But the Ballinger family seems steeped in denial and sweeping stuff under the rug 😮
Also as an autistic person, knowing right from wrong and having a strong, almost extreme sense of justice is very common in many autistic people. The idea that autisim excuses pedophilia and assualt just shows how people don't get aurisim at all, they see us as immature and unaware of right and wrong but it's litteraly the exact opposite
this is insane. i’m so proud of him. i’m glad this is being acknowledged by the family. the only thing that’s been done right. oliver is so brave and strong like i can’t imagine how validating this is for him and how much he’s been through bc of this. i was so upset how pushed down this situation was bc it is important. no matter what disabilities trent has, that’s no excuse for being a creep towards anyone let alone children. even if he has developmental issues like jessica states, he still knows right from wrong. people using that he has developmental difficulties as an excuse to defend his behavior is disgusting. i’m really glad she spoke up bc this not only validates oliver but also probably other children who have had similar interactions with trent. and like you said this opens up a new perspective for this situation as well as any future situations with not only trent but other families as well.
"he still knows right from wrong" he literally may not. But that means his family should have had control over him and not let him have any access to fans. Had him no where near the internet if he doesnt know right or wrong. People in the uk who dont know right or wrong normally end up in residential homes will staff there all hours. Or they live with their families with the same level of support (a lot of these homes arent the best, just wanted to say in such extremes people cannot just be let to live normal lives they cant safely live)
@@oliverlezz Hey my brother stay strong, hope you are doing well with all this. Im also trans and was creeped on online years before I came out. I really feel for you in this ❤
I was thinking of that too. well if we admit this and take the focus off groomleen and my poopy husband for writing haters back off and me and my hubby for exploiting my children then he can be looked at and we can get a break.
The stuff with Trent was the first thing i thought if anything could be a crime, it's that. And I wouldn't doubt that there are more than just Oliver. The fact that Jessica even thought to ask her children says a lot. That means 1. She thinks Trent is capable of such acts and 2. She knows what Oliver said is credible. And I have a feeling this is an open secret in the family which is frightening. Yes anyone can be a potential predator and parents should always be on the lookout and children should always understand when someone makes them uncomfortable but to knowingly have that knowledge that there's someone in your family you can't trust your children around? And further not report that person to the police and just think you won't have your kids around them?
This definitely! I kept getting the "open secret" vibes whenever Trent came up, the fact the entire family is backing this shows they know something that we don't that is very likely a lot worse than what what's been shown
@@grrbarkingDefinitely. When I used to watch Colleen's vlogs she said Trent doesn't like being on camera/in vlogs. I always thought that was kind of odd. I think the truth is that she doesn't want Trent around very often.
My mom has been a special education teacher for 30 years and she has worked with kids from all different types of backgrounds and disabilities, and she said even some of the worse of the worse people with disabilities know a basic right from wrong, “never let your disabilities be an excuse”. And I agree for once with my mom, but she tells people to always be aware cause sometimes people with disabilities Truly don’t know right from wrong.
everything that comes out about these ppl just disgusts me even more... but i'm glad to see you've been thriving regardless, and i fully support you as you continue to process what happened and heal. good luck on your move, and take care! 💕
As a deaf person id like to immediately address that NO disabled person can use their disability card to erase racism, pedophilia or otherwise hateful and creepy ass behaviors. Trent being deaf is just only that - deaf. Being deaf doesn’t mean he was unaware of ANY of his behaviors. He knew what the f he was doing and he also knew it would look bad on people with disabilities when he did it. Idk about his other disabilities if any but the sentiment is across the board unacceptable.
I’m sorry there is absolutely NO excuse here for this. If Trent truly has the limited mental capabilities that his family claims he has then each ADULT in that family had and still HAS the direct responsibility to monitor or take away his access to any form of communications and social media. I send so much love, light and strength to Oliver and I hope more continue to to bring this to light.
I knew you would want to see that she had said that! Soon as I saw it, I took a screenshot just in case she was told to delete it, and posted it to twitter and tagged you so you could see what was said. I couldn’t believe she admitted all of this! I truly hope Oliver finds some peace through this.
Thank you for covering this and supporting Oliver. I hope others will come out if there’s people who had to go through this too. Sending love and peace to Oliver and you.
i love you adam, i really do (or at least your online persona but you seem very genuine and smart and kind) i hope you’re doing okay … this has gone on for months i just hope you, becky, oliver, and all the other victims get justice and peace ): ♡
I have always felt like Colleen must have some sort of trauma she endured due to her behaviours and obsession with incest jokes and periods. Now I’m wondering if that trauma comes from Trent…
This is so current and important for our youth, and the youth to come. This is not drama, this is the protection of our children from social media influencers and groomers. I feel so bad for the victims, they deserve justice
Oliver if you're reading these, thank you for being a very brave human and sharing your story, you have oceans of support and I hope you're doing well ❤️
Trent was clearly cognitively aware enough to tell Oliver to keep hush hush about their messages. So yeah. I don’t know if they can play that card now…
Trent’s dms show that he was very capable of understanding that his actions were wrong. He said his family had told him to stop messaging fans and he kept enquiring when Ollie’s birthday was to countdown to his eighteenth birthday. He knew Ollie was underage and that engaging was bad. People cannot allow him to use his disability as an excuse. Furthermore, his family knew about this years ago and still opened up their young audiences to him even though it put children at risk. Are we expected to believe that Jessica only found out about this now with the rest of us? I don’t think they care about their children enough to keep them away from pedophiles, which their whole channel proves.
I wish swoop could do an interview with Oliver too bc i really think Oliver wasnt the only one and that’s really scary. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone but the dms to Oliver don’t read as someone doing this for the first time.
I just want to thank you... for covering all of this. As a mom to young children I had no clue who this family was until you. Unfortunately we need people like you and Oliver to help protect other children. I wish I was bold enough to speak about my groomer/predator when I was your ages. Thank you for keeping this in the spotlight, we cannot let people like this get away with abusing children. It's never okay to use children, keep screaming about it. You're doing a phenomenal service love. ❤
i didn’t see it included but didn’t trent also say that oliver would look good pregnant or something? that’s one of the most incriminating things he sent to ollie who was 14
As one who was developmentally delayed and has mental disabilities, this is the kind of thing that really makes me angry. It’s creeps like Trent who give us a bad reputation by using the “I don’t know any better because I’m disabled” card to justify being a pedophile, even when there’s evidence that they know exactly what they’re doing. Hell, at one of my former jobs, a guy who was on the spectrum sexually harassed and even fondled a woman but all management did was say “he’s autistic” and basically let him get away with it. Therefore, it affects people like me who are also autistic/disabled but clearly know right from wrong because people don’t want to be around us. At some point, society has got to stop coddling these people because having autism/disabilities is NOT a free pass for being a pedophile.
Oliver, I’m so sorry about the hardships that you had to endure but I’m so proud of you for coming out with your story. Sending lots of love and good vibes your way! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for continuing to talk about and document everything with all the Ballingers - not just Colleen. Not only do I absolutely die laughing at you dragging them 😅 but it's hard for me to find out accurate information unless I come to your channel, I know you have the 100% truth and I just love you for covering everything from all the family members and not just Colleen
Thank you for bringing this back up! I hate how ableist everyone in that family talks about Trent. Because it reflects on how they treat all disabled people. Trent still has to have accountability because he clearly does know and understand to a degree that what he is doing is inappropriate. But the constant infantilization of him has allowed and enabled him to continue inappropriate behaviors.
ive said this once and ill say it again, thank you adam for continuing to talk about this. it means the world to see a genuinely good person making content.
You are still young too and dealing with a lot (people should be able to go their whole lives without having to move for their own safety…) and you are doing a good service and being a strong person by continuing to make sure this story and all the aspects aren’t being swept under the rug.
This all just gets weirder and weirder - oh my god. So glad you’re going into this and bringing it to brighter light. Unreal. Teenage me is most absolutely screaming over this family lately.
As someone who was sexually harassed by a boy with down syndrome, I don't think Trent having "special needs" is an excuse. I've had people say to me "He didn't understand that what he did was wrong" when I know that wasn't true. My abuser made sure to only do things when we were alone, he would laugh when I would tell him "that's not okay". He would never do things when his family was around. Disability isn't an excuse, and people with disabilities can understand right and wrong. I stand with Oliver, you're not alone.
I feel like I never say this, but you are so incredible Adam. You're not just in this for yourself, but for everyone who was affected by the Ballinger family, and seeing you stick up for everyone like this makes me feel some glimmer of hope in this horrifying situation. I honestly have no worries for you or your future - you're handling this like a champ and better than I ever would. I hope this isn't bearing down on you too hard and that sometime very soon justice is served. Big love
this set up feels much more personal and impactful. you're doing such an important thing on the internet adam, making people keep remembering this horrible situation until they take responsibility.
it's funny. I remember watching Colleen's or the Ballinger family's vlogs and thinking how strange it was that Trent wasn't shown or wasn't even at the family events (?) .... It just shows that they knew about his behavior and how dangerous it is
Me too. Colleen would say things like "He doesn't like being on camera." But I think it was more so that the family didn't want to have Trent around very often.
It makes me wonder how this has changed the family dynamic and how it's affected the kids. Any sort of holiday/birthday, the Ballinger Family always had footage of the kids opening a present from "Uncle Trent" and thanking him. It was my understanding that Trent lived with Gwen and Tim. Maybe I'm wrong, but when I watched Rachel vlogs, anytime she stopped by her parents house Trent always seemed to be present too. And I'm not talking about big family events where everyone's present, just normal days. If that's the case, does he still live with them after all of this has come out? Are Gwen and Tim defending his actions? If he is still living with them, are the kids not allowed to go to Gwen and Tim's house? I just feel so sorry for the kids. Especially Bailey. When she gets out of the house and gains independence and finally has full access to a phone and the internet, she's in for a rude awakening about her family.
From a legal perspective, nothing in Jessica’s statement was surprising to me. In many jurisdictions, if you know that your child is potentially at risk (from allegations against a person) and you let that person continue to abuse your child, the parent goes to jail. Parents are expected to act on allegations and protect their children. Stopping contact is the logical step to take. In fact, I’d be shocked if a parent didn’t stop contact after such serious allegations and spoke to their children.
So is it, from a legal standpoint, to get herself off the hook when the police ask why, if such allegations were made, she did nothing about them? I feel like this is her public "I did my part to protect children" bit because I assume they are lawyered up and will be receiving legal advice from all angles.
@@mandyl3297yep. It stops child protection services from looking into whether she put her children in damage after she knew about the allegations against Trent. It is exactly what the law expects parents to do in response to serious allegations. They must protect their children
So they either hid this from Jessica for years and she's angry OR she feels she needs to come forward so child protective services doesn't knock on her door!!! Omg have cops been in contact with trent???? She did this for some reason 100%
I posted the initial question asking her about Trent. Not sure why she picked mine to comment on cause this is wild. I barely ever comment on UA-cam, but for some reason I felt the need to when I saw she was going feral on that comment section. Sending all of the love to Oliver, and hoping this helps them start to heal ❤
I had a friend in my freshman year of highschool who was a huge fan of Colleen… she met her and even claimed to be friends with her mom at some point lol. but out of everyone, i know she had the closest relationship with Trent…. which is concerning! It scares me to think about what might’ve been going on behind the scenes. I hope she & Oliver both are doing alright despite all of this!!
In my past experiences, I've seen people go to prison, not even just jail, over disturbing text messages. I'm surprised no one has looked at this yet. It could be that because he's a first time offender, he's on some type of probation, hence why the family is mum on the subject.
LOVE YOU, Adam. For me, learning just this year about so much crrrap that's gone with various (ALL, it would seem) Ballingers... what strikes me more is how extraordinary, mature, and focused you are. Adam, you've gone way beyond being an ex-miranda-fan getting vindicated. I don't want to embarrass you, or make you feel like someone is molly-coddling you, but here's what I see: you idolized Colleen, and when you were maybe 12/13 and met her, you two were of similar intellect and emotional intelligence. By 2020, you were far beyond the UPPER REACHES of her maturity. And now here we are in 2023, and you are doing really terrific, empathetic work. You f'kin rock, in the language maybe your Mum would use? :D You have so clearly had a really strong - and again the word arises: *mature* - upbringing, and I hold out great hope for any and all things you'll do moving forward. xoxo
So she suspects her brother was being innapropriate with her children and yet she posts them all over the internet for him to see?and where theres even more predators...? Kind of sounds like she was just trying to save her own ass in the situation. I feel horrible for Oliver and I hope they're doing better now.
This is HUGE, Adam. Thanks for posting it. I sincerely hope the Ballinger kids are telling the truth about their uncle. I can tell you that when I was Bailey's age and when it was my grandfather's behavior, I lied when my parents asked.
i've unfortunately endured multiple instances of sexually inappropriate behavior, some of which I was a minor for, from people with developmental delays, one of whom I am related to, and I genuinely think it's such an uncomfortable topic that people will take any excuse for their behavior to attempt to justify it and sweep it under the rug so it doesn't need to be discussed any longer than it needs to be which, quite frankly, is disgusting. the double "taboo" whammy of developmental delays and sexually inappropriate behavior makes situations like this nearly impossible to discuss, however, there is never an excuse for sexually inappropriate behavior towards minors or adults. being developmentally delayed can partially be an explanation for behavior like this but it is never an excuse and honestly it's not even that great of an explanation. if someone's developmental delay is to the point where it is known that they are unable to interact appropriately with others then they cannot be allowed to be in situations unsupervised where such interactions have the possibility of occurring. i think people don't like/want to confront the reality of being responsible for someone with a developmental delay and what exactly that entails, which is extremely valid. however, the solution to that cannot be to let them experience levels of independence that they are not capable of experiencing just because it's easier for those responsible for them. if it is genuinely too much for you to step up to the level of care they need, hire help. because as much as you would love to live in this fantasy world where you delude yourself into thinking that they can handle themselves appropriately, there are endless stories coming out every day in the real world from people traumatized for life because they were on the receiving end of the reality of a developmentally delayed person's capabilities of interaction. additionally, someone can be developmentally delayed, know that interacting with someone in a certain way is inappropriate, and do it anyway. someone can be developmentally delayed and employ tactics that groomers use to keep their victims quiet. someone can be developmentally delayed and still know exactly what they are doing. but again, people don't want to think about this and would rather continue to believe that someone being developmentally delayed automatically absolves them of any potential wrongdoing and/or consequences for their actions. it is disheartening that jessica seems to be mentioning trent's developmental delay in a way that insinuates an excuse for it because there really and truly is no excuse for the kind of behavior he has exhibited. however, it brings me so much hope and relief that she is taking oliver's story seriously and implemented immediate and seemingly lasting change in regards to her children's interaction with trent. i know how much of a difference it would have made to me in the moment if those I confided my story to had taken it as seriously as jessica seems to be taking it. jessica has her own issues (as you've clearly stated for us across countless videos, thank you for your diligence

@claudiacloud91 shane in general is/was super pervy, i wouldn't be surprised.
For years in her videos Colleen Ballinger has alluded to being sexually abused, but always said she wouldn’t ever talk about it publicly
This story is just getting more and more horrifying. I feel so bad for all the victims. They all should be in jail.
The fiends involved should all be in jail.
@@DirgeHole-2866that’s what they meant lmao

@@Jay-rl3bwto be fair, I thought they meant the victims for a second too lol
This does sounds like you're saying the victims should be in jail.😭😭
There's clearly something really disturbing that's been going on in that family generationally with how much they've tried to normalize creepy aunt/uncle stuff, and how normal they seem to think inappropriate/no-boundaries behavior around children is.
Generational truama can be a bitch lol. I've had to cut out majority of my family because of that shit.
I really appreciate that Oliver’s story is finally being centered now that the Johnny/Josh situation has been handled.
Say it louder for the ppl in the back
@@FBI.Open.Up.

Taking a big step like this with their kids would not go unnoticed by the rest of the family. Family members typically want to avoid making big rifts like this in the family. There's a chance this was done without creating a rift in the family because the rest of the family understands why. They all know something we don't, about Trent.
i think we all know quite enough about trent.
Josh Duggar...nuff said?
@@iAquarius202you are exactly correct.
The whole family is just gross. 🤢🤮
Also, I’m glad you wasn’t further harmed by that predator.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that as well as the neighbour girl you knew.😢 May you both continue to heal & grow.❤
I’ve been pretty disappointed with the lack of coverage and focus (not from you, Adam, but other channels covering and doing deep dives) on Oliver’s experience. Someone I went to school with for years was a serial assaulter, he would touch girls without permission often. He was never expelled. The girls were told "he's special" and "has autism" so he "can't help it."
I am so tired of people making excuses for predators. Developmental Delays or not, people know what's right and wrong. Trent knew it was wrong.
I’m autistic I definitely know right from wrong no excuse
I agree my son has a serious developmental disability and he’s 7 and he understands that our bodies belong to us and we don’t touch others and they can’t touch us etc. if he could not be appropriate with others then it would be MY responsibility as caregiver to set boundaries. But the Ballinger family seems steeped in denial and sweeping stuff under the rug 😮
Also as an autistic person, knowing right from wrong and having a strong, almost extreme sense of justice is very common in many autistic people. The idea that autisim excuses pedophilia and assualt just shows how people don't get aurisim at all, they see us as immature and unaware of right and wrong but it's litteraly the exact opposite
this is insane. i’m so proud of him. i’m glad this is being acknowledged by the family. the only thing that’s been done right. oliver is so brave and strong like i can’t imagine how validating this is for him and how much he’s been through bc of this. i was so upset how pushed down this situation was bc it is important. no matter what disabilities trent has, that’s no excuse for being a creep towards anyone let alone children. even if he has developmental issues like jessica states, he still knows right from wrong. people using that he has developmental difficulties as an excuse to defend his behavior is disgusting. i’m really glad she spoke up bc this not only validates oliver but also probably other children who have had similar interactions with trent. and like you said this opens up a new perspective for this situation as well as any future situations with not only trent but other families as well.
hey, oliver here, thank you so much 🥹
"he still knows right from wrong" he literally may not.

Trent was clearly cognitively aware enough to tell Oliver to keep hush hush about their messages. So yeah. I don’t know if they can play that card now…
YES. I hate that people are trying to justify his behaviour because of it as someone with mental disabilities as well
Trent’s dms show that he was very capable of understanding that his actions were wrong.

This Ballinger family has a disturbing darkness to cause this much pain for children and even adults..
The FACT that she put it all in writing?! On Beyoncé’s internet?! This whole family is unhinged.
We all hope your move goes smoothly tomorrow! Take time for yourself if needed, and keep exposing these awful people 💞
This is huge... I hope that justice is served from here
Thank you Oliver for speaking up about this. You will inspire others to have the courage to find their voice and speak up.❤
I always knew that that family was weird, breaks my heart for the kiddos
I love it when horrible people throw each other under the bus in an attempt to save themselves.
I’m so glad that Oliver was brought up. People don’t talk about their story enough. We see you Oliver.
When she gets out of the house and gains independence and finally has full access to a phone and the internet, she's in for a rude awakening about her family.
always the "but why did this 12 year old was talking to him tho" never the "WHAT THIS ADULT MAN WAS THINKING?????"
It’s most likely the latter
This is wildddd wow. I'm so glad that Oliver is getting his story validated.
Me seeing the title of this video and clicking as fast as I could. Adam is better than the news.
Bit of a late comment here but how would you feel about getting in touch with them? They might have had weird interactions with Trent or worse
Silence is breaking this year.
OMG I've just realised that when Trent said that Olivier looked like his last girlfriend, could his last girlfriend have been a child?
It all goes back to the Ballinger’s upbringing…. putting it out there now.
Yes l've been saying that from the very beginning of this
I’m hoping the kids can somehow escape the fate of walking in their footsteps. This doesn’t need to be continued with other generations.
Yeah their dad is kinda sus that now his fetish playlist was self leaked around the time the stupid response video came out.
@@flawedmind I hope so too
oliver bravely coming forward may have saved those kids from a lifetime of trauma. as a victim of CSA i could cry. thank you, oliver. ♡︎
Thanks for covering this, i know it has to take a toll to keep rehashing, but it’s not drama they’re actually predators
I'm still so mad at Johnny for taking the stage from Becky and Oliver at the H3 podcast.
Thank you so very very much for covering this! Oliver deserves justice.
im glad oliver received some validation
Oliver did a great interview about his experience with Trent, with VangelinaSkov. Definitely worth the watch.
I don’t think it was confidence, I think they’re all spiraling at this point
Let's hope so
This is HUGE, Adam. Thanks for posting it. I sincerely hope the Ballinger kids are telling the truth about their uncle. I can tell you that when I was Bailey's age and when it was my grandfather's behavior, I lied when my parents asked.
I love how much your protecting him like you werent ❤ some would be jealous he was validated the first time thank you for just being a support! ❤
Why are so many of those siblings and family members so predatory? I feel so bad for the kids.
Saying “don’t share our messages” immediately means he knows it’s wrong. Adults should not have secrets with minors.
Trent is only the TIP of the ICEBERG.
knowing how trent is with kids it makes colleen’s miranda sings “creepy uncle” bit even more sickening and disgusting since trent is HER kids’ uncle…
i've unfortunately endured multiple instances of sexually inappropriate behavior, some of which I was a minor for, from people with developmental delays, one of whom I am related to, and I genuinely think it's such an uncomfortable topic that people will take any excuse for their behavior to attempt to justify it and sweep it under the rug so it doesn't need to be discussed any longer than it needs to be which, quite frankly, is disgusting. the double "taboo" whammy of developmental delays and sexually inappropriate behavior makes situations like this nearly impossible to discuss, however, there is never an excuse for sexually inappropriate behavior towards minors or adults. being developmentally delayed can partially be an explanation for behavior like this but it is never an excuse and honestly it's not even that great of an explanation. if someone's developmental delay is to the point where it is known that they are unable to interact appropriately with others then they cannot be allowed to be in situations unsupervised where such interactions have the possibility of occurring. i think people don't like/want to confront the reality of being responsible for someone with a developmental delay and what exactly that entails, which is extremely valid. however, the solution to that cannot be to let them experience levels of independence that they are not capable of experiencing just because it's easier for those responsible for them. if it is genuinely too much for you to step up to the level of care they need, hire help. because as much as you would love to live in this fantasy world where you delude yourself into thinking that they can handle themselves appropriately, there are endless stories coming out every day in the real world from people traumatized for life because they were on the receiving end of the reality of a developmentally delayed person's capabilities of interaction. additionally, someone can be developmentally delayed, know that interacting with someone in a certain way is inappropriate, and do it anyway. someone can be developmentally delayed and employ tactics that groomers use to keep their victims quiet. someone can be developmentally delayed and still know exactly what they are doing. but again, people don't want to think about this and would rather continue to believe that someone being developmentally delayed automatically absolves them of any potential wrongdoing and/or consequences for their actions. it is disheartening that jessica seems to be mentioning trent's developmental delay in a way that insinuates an excuse for it because there really and truly is no excuse for the kind of behavior he has exhibited. however, it brings me so much hope and relief that she is taking oliver's story seriously and implemented immediate and seemingly lasting change in regards to her children's interaction with trent. i know how much of a difference it would have made to me in the moment if those I confided my story to had taken it as seriously as jessica seems to be taking it. jessica has her own issues (as you've clearly stated for us across countless videos, thank you for your diligence
And the disabled community has asked people to stop saying special needs for years. Intellectually disabled is the term we prefer.
Developmental delay is NOT an excuse
Ok I’ve watched this controversy but I just now read the messages between Trent and Oliver. Why is this man not in prison now? I puked 🤮 I literally puked. I don’t get it 13 years old. This is gross
I saw the room in the background and thought "wow, you unpacked super quick." 😂
This is so scary dude. Like that’s confirmation. I wonder what Jessica was thinking?! Like how can she defend Colleen and then do this?
Protecting their own kids but not taking any steps to protect other people’s kids? Sounds like the Ballingers.
