Is this the worst card ever? Do you have one?
It’s close. The Nolan Ryan topps card set was pretty ridiculous. I have the Gentleman rancher one.
Jon bois did a fantastic sports documentary about all of the bobs in sports and he touched on how lame Bob looks in all of his cards. Funny to see you showing the card off.
I have cards of quarterback's wives. Who's after a Debbie Montana card?
On the Baseball Almanac site, Hamelin's address is openly available indicating that he's receptive to mail or autograph requests.
1991 fleer baseball cards had the nickname of canary cards.
Worst card ever is anything with Peyton Manning on it.
Can’t disagree with that.
Just had to get up and go dig out a 5000 card box to see if it was holding the worst baseball card in history. 😪no
1977 Topps Rick Jones rivals this.
Keating doesn't need the millions. He's already independently wealthy.
I was aware of this card because I love the stories on stuff like this. Keating should ABSOLUTELY get this graded and I expect he will.
lol
Family obligations caused me to miss the live stream. Now, that I learned that I had the opportunity to win the worst card ever I really regret it- lol. I remember Hamelin on the Royals but wasn’t aware of that horrendous card. Proof Of life- lol. Cool story, thanks and once again, congrats on 9K. Thinking ahead- Half way through your 10k live show- you should just remove your mic, get up and walk away never to return!
Hahaha thanks Rob
I just watched a video & through of you. Have you ever looked up Ichiro's obs+? It is a good illustration of how fans seems to look at batters as either a power guy or hitting for average. Often there are guys whom are a combination of power & average, but get less respect than a guy like Ichiro whom got a lot of hits, but not total bases.
A little like Pete Rose?
I bought a collection years ago and there were probably 10-12 of these cards in there. I like goofball cards like these so I kept one, but dumped the rest. About three weeks later Hamelin's card gained traction and was selling for over 50 bucks. I was so pissed at the timing of it all. Happy I have the one, but I didnt even compare conditions because forever it was just a 10 cent card
Bummer!
1991 Fleer rocks !! I’ve got thousands in pack fresh condition.
Me too, my friend
1990 score is the worst looking in my mind.
Imagine if the guy wasn't so focused on food?
Wow.. I remember that card but had zero clue the story behind it! Love it..
..epic play in retirement. 🤣
Classic
Congratulations on surpassing nine thousand!! 👏 well done man! 🥳 🎉
Thanks a ton!
@@JunkWaxHero You're welcome! Full watch
Hideous beyond belief. Did not know it existed!
1991 Fleer is leagues better than 2012/13 Panini Triple Play.
lol fair
Oddly, I own 54 unique Bob Hamelin cards. This is not one of them.
55 now!
Loved this set as a kid!
Very nice guy. It was pretty cool seeing him play in person for many years in Omaha and then getting called up and winning the rookie of the year.
Awesome!
I think Hamelin kind of benefitted from the shortened season of 94. He had a couple pedestrian months mixed in with a couple very good months + 10 games in August then the season is over. He didn't have to face that mid August through September wall most rookies faced their first year. So his stats ended on a good note as he was on a nice run when the season stopped. But I suspect he would have had another May or June to finish out the year had the season went its regular schedule.
Good point
...and then he began eating a lot
OMG I am on the hunt for one….Great background story
Good luck!
There is a great 2 part documentary on UA-cam called “The Bob Emergency” that starts off talking about this card and Bob Hamelin. Give it a watch if you have the time, it’s pretty interesting
Thanks!
That is funny! I apologize about forgetting the livestream took place. I made it right at the end…..🙄
No worries!
@@JunkWaxHero, I didn’t think it was funny that I had forgotten.
As for the 1994 AL ROY race, Manny was 22 years old and Hamelin was 26. In 1994, I don't think many folks considered the age of the player when it came to rookies, but I think these days people would be more impressed with the younger player if the stat lines were similar.
Yes, but I don’t think most voters consider age now either
Proof of life photograph 😂
I have a half finished rant video about terrible cards…😂❤
Looking forward to it!
Proof of Life photo…lmao
Proof of life. Lol
I like 91 Fleer.
🤣 I love it!! It's so bad. I love it! I have multiple 😁
lol
lol proof of life
I love 91 Fleer! It’s 90 Fleer that’s the worst ever.
Disagree but I get it
I laughed out loud at This is a proof of life photo
😂👌
🤣
I bought a set of these about 6 months ago, at a flea market for $8. 😂 All of them have probably been in a box since 1994 hahahaha. They show the years in the edges....even that beautiful Bob Hamelin! Hahahaha
Ha! I recall a Sox game against the Royals during his ROY season in 94. Sox scored over 20 runs in that game.
No idea it existed. I saw it for the first time yesterday on ur 9K show(btw congrats on that) so thanks for the background on it. Knowing this you should’ve kept it.
I died at “proof of life photograph”
lol thanks
O have never seen that card, nor have I ever heard the story about it. I will have to look through my junk wax to see if I have one, LOL! Awesome story!
Bob Hamelin the Hammer had a few great years. Had a cup of coffee with my Brewers!
91 Fleer > 88 Donruss
Disagree but I get it
Awesome card and great story. Congrats on 9k subscribers. Was a fun live stream
Thanks for coming, Orlando!
2021 topps is the absolute worst set design.
1988 score is pretty shitty too, really basic
I can't wait til topps starts cutting up the name sign & put the peices on a card as event used. 😂😂
Haha oh man so true
So much hate for 91 Fleer. I gotta say that the 95 Fleer set is much worse than the 91 set.
I love ‘91 fleer 😂
Now, I want to dig through all my old cards. I'm pretty sure I would have ripped a box or more back in 98 when I was collecting again.
Good luck!
🤣 Brilliant Mike! The only thing missing from that "Proof of Life" photo is a dated newspaper and a 1980's Richard Marx mullet reference. 😉
lol yes!
Hi Mike. Congrats on the 9K. I am watching the live stream this afternoon. Great story about the Bob Hamelin card. I had never heard this story before.
Awesome! Thank you Jim!
Is NEO cards and comics actually Bob Hamlin?
😮
Hamelin looks like he's being held hostage.
For laughs Topps should make a small set of purposefully hideous and hilarious cards and use autographed reprint inserts of this one as something to chase.
Haha I love it
I am on the PSA pop report and there appears to be three graded by PSA (2 9's and an 8) and since you are "influencing", I expect that to increase heavily over the next few months.
Ahhh I must’ve gotten that wrong. Thanks for the correction!
@@JunkWaxHeroboth 9’s actually just sold today when you put out this video. One for $75 and the other for $125. Think we have a pump and dump. 😂 JK
@@charlest7311 hey look at me influencing! 😂
That’s what he* said
