Thank you for the captions and pop up tips in the video. Just so excellent from mannerisms to words chosen and the topic at hand.

That printer looks like a Panasonic, which was my favorite printer back in the day. I still hope to get one again.

That's a bummer, those mustard caps are worth more than the computer is. I think that power supply has something else wrong with it, I would get rid of it and replace it. Those caps last in high power tube amps for 50+ years, they should not blow like that unless they are getting twice the voltage or more. The RIFA caps are notorious for failing in everything, total junk and belong in the bin.

Well, obviously they didn't took lasting capacitors, as especially the 80s IBM PCs are notorious for failing on any of them.
In my experience, just swapping them out is typically good enough, without the need for rebuilding or replacing the power supply.

@@THEPHINTAGECOLLECTOR Those shorted tantalums were probably the cause. I wonder if that coil has a bad flyback diode.

That capacitor broke from mechanical stress, bending their legs too close to the body causes them to break like that.

I'd love to see the printer working personally. Looks like it pre-dates expensive ink cartridges 🙂

Chance is big it predates the ink printers, as it's a dot matrix printer for the 80s period.
Haven't looked into it yet, so no idea if it still works or not.
