I have no idea why this came up in my feed but I couldn't stop watching!!! Omg.. Davale please teach a class somewhere (community, church, health fair..something) and help educate young men on their upcoming rolls. So much of this is missed and that statement about speaking to them in the womb is so true and key. Protecting your wife is protecting your child and thus your legacy! Share this video with any soon to be dad who wants to know what a real dad is and where it starts!!!!
YES @ D.C. well said!!! I said the same...every dad to be and even those still making babies could benefit from listening to this well educated and caring man.
I remember - Serena Williams stated she had to demand a CT Scan because something did not feel right. Deval - protecting his wife at this time....nice to see this. Great job being father and husband.
@Big Steve just keep learning don't feel bad about what you don't yet know because it's a lifelong journey and women are on it, too, sadly...ppl don't just tell us about our bodies so we have to seek the medical facts ourselves.
Childbirth is very serious & can be dangerous. A c-section is one of the most dangerous surgeries. This is wonderful that he's taken it upon himself to help protect his wife & children by becoming educated to be an advocate for them. Every pregnant woman needs someone there to do that. A woman can't fully advocate for herself during that time.
I'm here thinking how easily Khadeen could have been part of the statistics of black women dying in childbirth during her pregnancy had it not been for Devale there looking and seeing something is wrong and confirmed by her mother when the doctor did not care enough to stay. That's sad and scary. Especially when you are new to the process, trust that the doctors will do what they should do, can be the danger. We really need to educate ourselves
1) I LOVE the Ellis family. 2) This is exactly why I want to become a doula, so mother/fathers know all of their options and are well informed about this process 3) I love how you guys terms when their mentioned. That's very helpful
This conversation is so important!! This is exactly why I want to have a natural birth when I get married and have children. You're body knows when it's ready. Love how involved he is with his wife and kids and that he took the initiative to educate himself about the womans body and the birthing process.
Wow! This series is soo important 🙌🏽✨ Allowing husbands/fathers to understand their power and necessity of their presence in the birthing/ delivery process. #fightagainstbwmortality
I respect you for your keen interest in birthing. I also love how you care for your queen. We need more men like you who makes their presence felt when wife giving birth. Hats off to you Devale, you a real man!!! Love your family!!!!! I enjoy watching your videos!!!
Hopefully more men will take the statements into consideration. Congratulations to Devale understanding his Role during his wife’s pregnancy, labor and delivery Congratulations King Maker 👑👑👑👑
Outstanding interview!!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Thank you for your education of childbirth. Most men won’t even pick up a book or search google! Thank you for being a positive force n a great dad!!
My daughter is grown now but it was a horrific experience giving birth and having a husband (now ex) that was not supportive or involved. I remember feeling unsafe, stressed and extremely vulnerable and it caused a shift in the marriage. It’s nice to see husband in protect mode during childbirth process.
Same 😢 it’s so warming to see this man properly love his wife and kids during childbirth. I wish I had this wholesome an experience. The negativity and emotional abuse I went thru put me off of ever having anymore children. I hope more men learn how their actions can impact woman and child. Loving this series so far!
That interview was mind blowing. I couldn't stop watching. I went to through so many emotions just watching and listening. Sad, happy, shock, in awe, smiling, laughing, depressed, thoughtful, reminsicing, flashbacks. Thanks for being a man Davale🤗😭❤️
Thank you for setting an awesome example of being an actual participant of your children’s life. My God continue to bless and keep you and your family!
God bless this black man who did the work to ensure his wife and babies would have the best possible experience during and after childbirth. I think every father to be would benefit from watching and listening to this interview....even fathers who are already dads but expecting another child might benefit from watching this. Well done, great interview 👏🏾
Great job Ellises! It is AMAZING to watch what a woman and family can be when first, the man wants to be a husband, 2nd, understands what that looks like and 3rd LOVES his family more than himself.
Excellent content Black Love.De vale all men should be as educated and invested in the birth of their children like you! Covering their wife this way eliminates an enornment amount of stress and solidifies the bond of trust within the union.Great video.Love De vale and Khadeen Ellis and family💖
I love how he learned to be more educated but specifically about the womens body. He took the role of a leader and protector and I love that for her and their family.
Wow this was extremely informative. This is why I don't want to have anymore kids unless im married and he seems like a very considerate and understanding husband. Blessed to find that kind of love. And they have 3 beautiful children
Good for you for educating yourself! Great birth stories. You have a good understanding of what a birthing person needs, what the developing fetus needs, as well as what a breastfeeding person needs! Good job!!! I am a doula, doula trainer, childbirth educator and lactation counselor. I have seen you on TV. Nice to see you as a "real" person, a dedicated husband and father! Great knowing about Black maternal mortality statistics as well. Job well done!!
Awesome advice that any man can use. My son was born in the late 70’s by emergency C-section. My husband worked so much I was lucky to have him around for 2 weeks afterward. I had heard of post-partum depression but since I was the baby of the family there were no other children around, no one to see go through pregnancy so I was pretty clueless. I didn’t realize that PPD aside I was subject to depression anyway so having PPD just made it worse. Having someone around who would “have my back” would have been wonderful. This is something all life partners who are contemplating having children with their significant other should hear!
I love the Ellis family and I’m glad you are doing more videos about your family and the different experiences you all have experienced. Thank you for being real.
OMG! I cried listening to him tell this story... the amount of black women that have died in childbirth is astounding. I’m so happy she made it through. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I don’t understand why this popped up in my feed... but when I read the title I said “ whoa Khadeen is pregnant again?” It slick confused me because I listen to their podcast😂 Doulas are amazing. I had one when I had the twins. I recommend any woman to have one.
Wonderful! Thank you so much and congratulations dear Codie and Devale! Awesome job (the interview and your series Codie and the fathering-husbanding job Devale), and an exemplary dad. EXEMPLARY. And beautiful! The world needs positive models so much. I feel so happy and proud :) Thank you again.
Devale I truly appreciate all you’ve offered here. Beautiful story and I Love how much you owned the process. Amazing evolution!!! Thank you. Thank you.
Oh my! This was wonderful and refreshing to watch! Even made me a bit teary eyed at some parts. 😅 Great work and what an awesome husband and father you are Devale! 🥰
A lot of husbands don't understand when you really love your wife you will invest in her. Every aspect of her life. It takes work and sacrifice. Marriage is servanthood. You prove this by doing research in areas you weren't educated in. Keep up the great work
Wow, that's crazy. It's always usually hard to give birth, it felt like I always almost lose my life giving birth giving birth to my two. But God is Good
Refreshing to hear a fathers perspective of labor and childbirth. Loved how involved he was and the research he did to ensure that his wife had a successful natural birth. This is my portion in Jesus Name. Amen!
Men. We keep telling you. Childbirth is SERIOUS. From pregnancy to breastfeeding. We need your understanding, patience and protection 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️
See that's a man who truly loves his wife and family. God bless the Elli's family
I shared this video with my sons (ages 19 & 20), with this statement:
WAIT UNTIL YOUR LIFE IS READY FOR THIS RESPONSIBILITY...! 🤨
Great vid for them to watch. To be married and in-love.
AMEN MOMMA!🙏🙏🙏
@Anne Liesveld You could be married and STILL not be ready for this responsibility.

Yesssss! So beautiful. Really touched my heart.
I remember - Serena Williams stated she had to demand a CT Scan because something did not feel right. Deval - protecting his wife at this time....nice to see this. Great job being father and husband.
Men should participate in child birth and we need to continue to educate men about birth.. let's not trash talk men..

This comment!!! I am sending the links to my husband.
So true. No checking the patient
Appauling quality of care in first pregnancy. Inappropriate dosing during induction can cause precipitous labour! U could have sued.
Yes! Thank God he was there to advocate for her.
@@rishaabston1552 So true
Especially with how the mortality rate in maternal care, husbands are a very key advocate for a woman.
Awww.....this so sweet just listening you talking about fatherhood and protecting your wife is awesome 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
I love that he says “we” even when talking about the medication that was being offered to her because he was fully part of the process 🥺😭
This is beautiful 😭😭😭 THIS IS WHAT YOUR MAN IS SUPPOSED TO DO! Look out for you and protect you!

The more I watch Devale’s videos the more I realize how wise he is in sacred union and the influence of a masculine and feminine energy partnership.
This was so enlightening to hear from a Father's perspective. The love and protection for your wife and children is so inspiring. ❤
I love seeing men get involved and educating themselves on what their partner or babies mother is going through. It’s awesome 👏🏼
I LOVE how he speaks of his wife's experience in terms of "we" and "us"!!
This is such a vital part of the family - the father’s presence! Great job!
