I wish we were like this during WWII
In de memoires van een Duitse generaal staat dat de Nederlandse leger de best getrainde vijand was tegen wie hij gevochten had. De Duitsers wilde Nederland in een dag onderwerpen maar was na 4 dagen nog steeds niet gelukt. Het ging niet om kwaliteit maar kwantiteit. Nederland was gewoon zwaar in de minderheid.
We werent as prepared cuz we were neutral în WW1 and yeah, well, thats it, history cant be changed, we should be happy to be dutch
Nl heeft een betere reputatie en krijgsgeschiedenis dan we denken.
Alleen al wat NL allemaal afgevochten heeft tijdens napoleon is al ziek.
Oa hebben nl genietroepen zich opgeofferd door een brug te bouwen zodat napoleon leger uit Rusland kon ontsnappen
Onze strijd om Nederland was een verloren strijd maar elke meter werd betaald met bloed. En daarna hebben we de vijand op elke plek waar ze ons ontmoeten laten vechten en bloeden om alles wat we hadden. Onze kracht ligt niet in wat we kunnen doen op grote schaal maar wat we kunnen doen om zo lang mogelijk vol te houden waar we ook zijn.
In Rotterdam hebben de Nederlandse mariniers in de ww2 heel hard gevochten ze werden door de Duitsers de zwarte duivels genoemd en daar staat onze Nederlandse leeuw ook voor we vechten als leeuwen als het nodig is en zoals de pantser infanterie de stier heeft het is een vreedzaam beest maar als je ruzie er mee maakt heb je problemen en slaan we zo hard terug als we kunnen

I´m proud (also because I´m a yank with Dutch roots/ties) to have served with a few Dutch units in Afghanistan. Who were great people and very professional. I hope you will make it into the KCT/NLMARSOF, although I hope by that time the Dutch goverment has decided to substantially invest again in it´s armed forces.

+Leon Sobol Brave my ass... they didn't even fight in WW1, they surrendered after 5 days in WW2 and they chickened out while protecting Bosnians against Serbs in 1995. This "army" is nothing more then a civilian guard compared to other NATO/EU armies.
+John Steele I think you dont know about the legendary stand of the Dutch in those '5 days'? They destroyed about 45% of the german airplanes with their old fokkert's (Dutch Plane Brand) and their non trained artillerie forces....

Even France was holding back the Nazi's for a month. At the end of WW2 Germany went down fighting untill last man standing, and what did Holland? Think about how weak our army was in not even 60 years ago, check out a picture of a Dutch soldier from 1939 for an example, he was on his bike patrolling. Now we’re with Germany and Belgium, or just patrolling with a truck.
