I have three 2019 Yamaha VXR's with the naturally aspirated 1800 motor that get used exclusively in salt water and ALWAYS rinsed with fresh water after each use. All 3 of my skis have had issues with the zincs blowing out of their mounting position. One actually cracked the block where it attaches to it. On that ski which has 760 hours on it I just had to have it welded shut and it no longer has a spot for a zinc. We'll see how long that ski last now that it is zincess!
Hey Will, little fyi on anodes, your standard at home water heater uses fresh water and it also has anode rod that you are supposed to replace every year or couple of years depending on your water source. without it your water tank will get eaten from inside rather quickly. i would flush yamas with salt away even after a lake run since they are cooled by external water. seadoos is closed loop system with coolant so not an issue, but they have anode rings on the outside in the back.
There is a screen on the side of the jet nozzle that helps to filter out larger debris but smaller stuff can make its way through the system. Take off the access cap on the off white intake screen to see if you have built up debris there.
@@moneywayypr559 well....I have BUDS so I can completely erase all computer data. Start everything back at zero. That's why I won't buy used. I know how easy it is.
hi guys, I'll give you a call. But I have a question: I am a DIY guy. Have owned boats and changed out anodes before. However, I have the tr-1 on my waverunner. I"M NOT RICH. AND WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE/CHECK THE ANODE myself. Is it super hard to take off the air intake? it looks complicated as hell. I was able to get the bolt out of the anode but now I have to get the anode loose. 2018 vx limited 90 hours. well kept. thank you.
Rinsing out the engine cooling system with fresh water to remove salt deposits (salt water boaters) or remove organisms like zebra mussels or other organic material so as to prevent the transfer from one body of water to another.
And those are just sacrificial metal they’re on all boats that are used in saltwater and need to be changed regularly to protect the rest of the boat engine, parts and metal parts from electrolysis
There re different anode materials depending on fresh vs. salt water. How did Yamaha know where my ski was going? Sorry but an anode doesn’t show you anything about service. A anode is doing its job when it looks terrible too.
@cowlumbus the goal of this video was to help used PWC buyers to find evidence that points to whether or not proper Flushing was done. This technique was learned from a former world champion PWC racer and owner of one of the largest powersports dealerships in the world. You can trust this tip!
Good info but add the plea for likes at the end after you have actually shared the info. No one is liking or following when they get spammed before the video is even over.

I have one that I had to have the same thing done . Let you know how it goes.

Thanks for this! Good to know.
So why not show how to remove it?
Regards. I would like to know if the engine has a filter so that when the water enters it can hold all the small garbage?

Is it possible to get the anode without pulling the whole engine apart? I´m going to buy a FX SVHO tomorrow.
I've not been able to get to the anode on my FXSVHO. Not sure what is involved but it's not as straightforward as the naturally aspirated one.
It would have been nice to tell us what tool to use to pull the anode off.
I think that bolt is a 10mm but not 100% sure anymore. It's been a while since we made this one.
Just did one .....yes 10mm
I’m about to buy 2012 Yamaha wave runner with 15 hours what should I look before purchasing ? Thanks in advance
I would be questioning how a 2012 only has 15 hours

Um if I’m shopping the used lot…. How am I going to get in the Engine and pull this out?
@@illgazillion I'd have a mechanic do it as part of a pre sale inspection.
To open it does it need to open the covers

We have not done this step on a TR1. I'll need to get my hands on one before I can speak intelligently about this. Sorry.
Does a 2002 XL700 have these?
@@thebeddoctor4273 i dont think so.
Thanks
I am a newbie what does flushing mean 😮

How to buying

So that is why the dealer charges twice as much. They have to look at the anode!🤣🤪🙄

I doubt they check this
Many do, not sure if all do.
Couldn’t a shady seller just get a replacement and where it looks new? Seeing that this video is in knowledge for the buyer but also the seller.
@user-nt4sg8qv6y I guess they could but most sellers do not do this type of research whereas buyers often do.
Still need a shirt. 👕
dont listin to guys like this..that engine is the easiest to work on...
