I usually try to relax with a facemask and coffee before my exams....but still end up looking at my notes until the last minute and feeling stressed because of it lol
honestly my best way of studying is to act as if im teaching the subject to someone, and it ACTUALLY worked for me i went from a 33.5/50 to a 47/50 in Biology.
thank you for sharing your experince with grades. I felt so dumb for not getting good grades at uni. Now I am on probabtion and using notion. i took a couple of easy classes so i can raise my gpa
may! I was at brown last week visiting and I saw you in starbucks on thayer and my heart almost stopped cause I've been watching your vids forever and you convinced me to apply to brown (it's now my dream school) and i was gonna say something but i was too nervous and then I saw you AGAIN on the main green and again didn't say anything which I regret but hi i love you thank you for your videos!
Thank you for this video, I truly need to improve on my test taking skills. I’ve always been great with essays, presentations, something oral, but my test taking skills need serious improvement
This is really random but I’m really glad that you just used Quizlet to make flash cards after making a study guide. I thought that when I go to college and take memorization heavy classes, the content would be so immense that it would be impossible. But I have a question: how often do you go to your teachers or email them to ask for help?
For courses with extreme volumes of memorization, I actually use Excel/a spreadsheet to self-quiz. I’ll probably talk about it in the future! With regards to asking professors for help, I would say I tend to ask TAs since they’re less intimidating and often times more available. That being said, it’s not embarrassing or anything to ask professors for clarification-especially after a lecture (my favorite time to ask “stupid” questions). At this point I really don’t care about how I’m perceived or if I seem like I don’t understand absolutely everything. If anything, being embarrassed helps me remember my mistakes better LOL. Hope this helps!
also!! changing up your location. i’m not talking about studying in a different place all the time, but if you seem to struggle with studying to reset your area. if you study in your bedroom try to rearrange the furniture to build up healthy rituals, a real motivation boost :))
When i study anatomy it helps to right with different colour pencils so my eye's will go immediately at the important stuff (basically everything ) but it helps wuth staying focused or drawing the part's which I'm studying and then writing the name's what they're used for also helps
I’m struggling so hard as a full time student that also works full time 😭♥️ these tips are very helpful, and I’m definitely looking forward to getting my degree. I love printing out my python assignments that I get good grades on and looking over it periodically to brake it down and remind me what I did and why. We got this!!
Hmm, I tend to schedule my courses to avoid that situation, but I’d say prioritize and prepare as if the harder midterm was a day or two earlier. Prepare more in advance than usual, give yourself plenty of time to get help from TAs and such! I prefer spending long chunks of time dedicated to one subject rather than alternating, just for clarity’s sake. Hope this mildly helped haha
If I find myself reviewing stuff for a 2nd or 3rd pass, I think at that point I’m pretty sufficiently prepared! Basically once I hit all my major to-dos (re: the Game Plan) then I’m pretty set!
How to ace first and second year math / physics based midterms and exams: Google as many universities as you can for their math courses that are equivalent to yours with the same topics. Profs put up midterms and past exams with full solutions on many. Do these over and over since they're the same difficulty you'll see on your exam. The problem with textbook problems is there will be a twist that requires critical thinking to work out. A twist you didn't encounter in the textbook questions. By doing exams from other universities, you've already seen all the twists possible. If you use only the profs past exams (but obviously know this one in and out before you move on to more practice), he knows what twists he's never used before. He's not going to re-use the same "Trick" from a past year.
Hey May! How did you study/prepare for Physio? Do you think writing out your notes over again than typing makes a difference? And how long did you give yourself to study for midterm? Sorry for all the questions lol, I’ve just been struggling with this subject for a while. I really like your videos and you posting this made my day! Keep up the good work :)
Writing >> typing especially for physio! Definitely draw out diagrams and connect information. I probably took ~5 days to study for the midterm. Feel free to dm me on Instagram if you have more q's :)
Hi May, thanks for your tips! I'm wondering with what device do you take your notes and edit them on the computer? They are so neat! I've always find typing not efficient enough while handwriting can't be summarized when I'm cramming for exams.
Comment with your test-taking ritual! I take a phat nap and listen to Doja Cat before walking into the exam 5 min before it starts lol
I usually try to relax with a facemask and coffee before my exams....but still end up looking at my notes until the last minute and feeling stressed because of it lol
I relax by working out, reading some books and sleeping enough
sure such a hard class. You had to study for 4 days. I had to study for at least a month for my exams to at least pass them

Hey may! I was wondering if you could make a video about what you bring to college? I love your videos!
I’m struggling so hard as a full time student that also works full time 😭♥️ these tips are very helpful, and I’m definitely looking forward to getting my degree.

We got this!!
Hi! This was really helpful! I was wondering if you could do a video on how you use Notion and how you organise things there that'd be great!
Check my most recent video + my real-time study with me video! ✨
I hope more people will find more of your amazing contents
I appreciate it Aileen 💞
Oh man, the visual aesthetics though. High quality content and video! Keep it up :)
yay perfect timing, I have my last exam tomorrow!!
Love ur videos! This is much appreciated lol :)
Tips on studying for more than 1 exams in a day? I’m on a quarter system at a UC, so it’s quite fast paced

how do we know if we have "studied enough"? what signs tell you personally when you think you are done studying?
If I find myself reviewing stuff for a 2nd or 3rd pass, I think at that point I’m pretty sufficiently prepared! Basically once I hit all my major to-dos (re: the Game Plan) then I’m pretty set!
May Gao I’ll try this, thanks for replying!!
How do you remember the content for the problem based class
my saviooorrrrrrr!! much needed tips

The two dislikes are from ppl who are heated bc they didn’t get into Brown
how do you make your condensed study guides? Also do you make your flashcards after you make your study guides or before?
I miss your Vlogs

I’ll be making a video about note taking soon!
May Gao 💗 I’m looking forward to it! Thanks for replying:)
Hi May! Thanks for the tips :) what app do you use to make your game plans?
Notion:)
Hi May, where do you find the previous year exams? I feel like that was a very helpful tip!! I go to Brown as well!
The professor will post past years’ exams if they want them to be available! Otherwise, go off of problem sets/stuff that the prof wrote themself. :)
dO mOrE pRoBlEMS! besides that one thanks for all the good tips!
HAHA it had to be said one more time for the ppl in the back
do u have a video on how u take notes?
