And you've influenced me. All of us. Thank you, sir.
Your entertaining and authentic nature has helped me learn the most daunting concepts of film-making. Thank you for being you 🙏🏽
Thank you for the support Dee!
You are my biggest source of inspiration and motivation for filmmaking since 2 years. (just a little French guy who lives in a yellow van and tries to become an independent filmmaker). Thank you so much
Darious.
Trop bien on est 2 français ! Hahaha
J'ajoute le 3 ème pour compléter la crew ;) Vous faites des vidéos ?
Hey !! Une autre française ici ^^
Ok Darious for your next war you have an army of french whith you 💪😂
@@EgonLiberge oui enfin perso j'essaie haha
You can really tell when someone is gonna make it big as a director and its obvious you have the talent and work ethic to make quality films.
Most directors get real features after 30 years old so PLEASE keep putting out films that are the same quality or higher as Unsound, which was phenomenal for an amateur btw, and I’ll be buying a ticket to one of your films again soon.
Good luck!
I love that your answer to this question is less about people and more about processes.
You’re my biggest INSPIRATION ON UA-cam! I’ve learned so much about filmmaking and I’m incorporating that knowledge to MY CHANNEL! Thank you!!
The🐐
filmsbylow you’re gonna get big! Keep it up!!
filmsbylow he really is!💯
Star Royal thanks dawg!
Lawrence Karpeh for real!!
Low budget to high budget, Small And Great. Your list of film makers is great!
Darious, I consider my online film teachers You, Film Riot, and loads of feature bts. Honestly I've learned more from you than going to film school. Crazy right? Anyways, this career took me right to working next to Billy Crystal. So thanks for being a great teacher and keep doing what you're doing. Cannot wait to see more work from you. Oh! And watching unsound and the making, its definitely helped prep me and my team with planning for a feature we plan to make this summer
Same boat, it's really tough to narrow down a favorite director. Mine vary so wildly too, how can you rank Edgar Wright against Kubrick lol. I feel like it's the same thing with ranking your favorite musicians.
this channel continues to inspire me. never stop dude!
I agree with you Darious, I hate 'looking' for work (the money) but love the creative process. I keep hoping that I run into someone who is energized with the 'business' side to team up with..... but it doesn't look like that will ever happen.
Spike Lee’s Bamboozled is my favorite movie from his catalogue and I totally understand how having a favorite filmmaker (s) is such a hard thing to pick. Engaging video!
As a sound guy, I really appreciate the moving blankets on the wall...people don’t be knowing about the moving blankets on the wall. Inside tip: see Uline for the deluxe supreme quality for the low low. Pick it up from the store to save on shipping.
You inspired me to take movie class in uni and out of all the movies, my group won best camera. I used so may things you thought me. Appreciate your work man.
it so nice to see filmmakers get inspired by other filmmakers and not just the mega Hollywood directors even tho I love Scorsese and his style
Honestly, as a noob myself the filmmaker that has inspired me the most is early M Night. His movies are all so rewatchable, and it is my goal to make my films like that, where upon each rewatch you uncover some hidden detail that you hadn’t noticed the previous times.
Also you’ve influenced me a lot as well :)
My main influences have usually been the same since I started out in film, mainly I think because of the subject matter/characters: Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis, Michael Curtiz, Alfred Hitchcock, and Christopher Nolan.
I love your point though about studying more independent or outside the box filmmakers when it comes to making low budget features (I technically have studied some independent films like Safety Not Guaranteed and both versions of George Lucas' THX 1138, but I definitely need to do more as a lot of my ideas are epic sized adventures).
Incredibly inspiring video. It's refreshing seeing more young American filmmakers going through the indie no-budget path. In Europe, high-budget films basically do not exist and this is the only way possible to produce your own film and have a chance to get it in the theatres.
You'll get a shout out from me when I publish my film. Thanks for lighting and reigniting the the film passion in all of us. ;)
Dude...thank you for being so awesome! You’re teachings are an ongoing inspiration for me!!!
Hi Darious, thank you for your videos. Great stuff!
People try to look at films and filmmakers the same way they look at products. Things with pros and cons. But films are pieces of your life, man. Talking about films in an honest way, also means talking about yourself and your experience.
This guy Darious just gets it.
Perfect way to approach this topic.
Thank you for your suggestions.
Kindred spirits bro, same influences. Much respect. Love your videos. Let's work on something one day!
You are obsessed and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT.
It is only a matter of time until the day that we hear your name mentioned as inspiration by feature filmmakers.
one of your best yet.
Yeah, not gonna lie, you helped me get through making my first feature. Hands down the most stressful months of my life. But I got through it and premiered it at an imax theater and the crowd loved it. Although it was the most stressful time, it was also the most fun.
Shunji Iwai, Paul Thomas Anderson, David Fincher
youre taste evolves with you , good show case.
I just watched my first ever "mumblecore" movie and I thank so much for the suggestion! It was such an oddly powerful film too

Nice to hear some Bergman love! Greetings from Sweden
Darius, I live in Miami, FL. What resources do you use to find local talent: directors, actors, etc.
It's definitely important to learn how to make low-budget film, but you shouldn't ignore high budget. There's an adage that musicians use which applies to pretty much everything: You will only ever reach 90% of the level of your idols. So, aim higher.
You are an inspiring and influential filmmaker for soooo many of us, Darius! (I just can’t believe you mentioned Mr. Martin Scorsese!!!!!!)
Where u been bruh!?
Hey Darius I have a serious question about a debate that I have not been able to settle for years now about colleges for filmmaking. Please, is there a way I might be able to contact you to get a professionals opinion on?
How did you watch the other movies though?
D4Darious - Your content inspires me.
Mine are
Stanley Kubrick for his complete control over a project and how he effortlessly changes from genre to genre
(pre-2007) Tim Burton for his rampant visual style and his ability to make the absurd be emotional
Werner Herzog for his sheer perseverance. He’s been through hell and back making films and working with legitimate psychopaths, yet he gets shit done and it works
Great episode 👌
Find your voice bro, don’t be influenced by other movies. Do something that only u can do, no one should be able to replace you. Some films are so powerful like Nolan that as soon u watch it u wanna Make movies like him. But can u imagine if Scorsese or Cameron try to make movies like Nolan, there would be total loss of talent. Love all kinds of movies but don’t forget ur voice. Just shared what I learnt bro 😊
For me it's gotta be Alfred Hitchcock and Phil Lord/Chris Miller
There is a lot that we can learn from you..thankyou..👍👍
Thanks
I'm trying to make a decent film for $5k or less 😂
I'm sure if any of your subscribers wins an Academy Award, they would shout you out on stage man!
Inpsiration
I know I would!
Thanks for the Mike Nichols love.
Great video
I see what you did there with that story telling magic wand of yours. 8min felt like I spent an hr watching a movie. Salut, D
JOHN CARPENTER'S still but knowing something creepy excellent is going to happen along with his score ability, DARREN ARONOFSKY'S venture into the conscientious mind of people from a real perspective that's groundbreaking in its disturbance, M.NIGHT SHYAMALAN'S greatest ability in storytelling that clinches motivation and purpose, TARANTINO'S greatness to dialogue, crafting characters, and making violence look the way it's suppose to on screen, JOHN SINGLETON'S urban reality depiction like no other, Spike spitting right in your face to social reality infused with romance, violence, New York essence. SCORSESE'S definitive wit that speaks the greatest language in violence and white value. SERGIO LEONE taking his time to tell a story that will forever be cherished hundreds of years after made comprised to any genre.
honestly, is it bad to have not so much influences and more trial and error self experiencing things?
You should watch Kannada movie 'Lucia'
-from India

D4d I'm sorry but I need to say that come on man you see how important your content is how valuable is it in information tricks how to film how to do stuff and in the end no one give that a f about it you know I can go and watch a brand Brank video with 15 million viewers add nothing to my life God bless your heart pin my comment you are awesome and you still doing UA-cam

29th!!
I've never heard of a filmmaker with no Tarantino phase. That's a constant phase, it's like the cosmic background radiation.
Edgar Wright anyone
This was too visceral for me

John Cassavetes beats them all.
Martin Scorsese
Steven Spielberg
Quentin Tarantino
George Lucas
John Hughes
Your first feature was a big big mistake
Just do what everyone else does PLAGIARIZE OTHER FILMS and create your own uniqueness around it. You are thinking too HARD!! instead of just going with your GUT REACTION! By the way Rebel without a Crew is my BIBLE!!
*Show picture of Kubrick* "I don`t identify with these guys." *Next shot is a Kubrick shot*
Why people want to get paid for a short film movie
You have honestly helped fuel my passion to become a director
Keep it going WD!
I was today years old when I found out that Vin Diesel had directed a movie.
Right? I got so pleasantly surprised, I didn't know he had it in him.
Wise Words Bro - "Jurrasic Park is cool and all, but studying movies like that is not going to help you make a no-budget feature." 👍👍👍
Basic in the house. What up Kev!
@@D4Darious 😂😂😂
Also the same with any dumb superhero movie.
That pronunciation of "Denis Villeneuve" gave me whiplash ...
i paused and went to the comments right away hahaha
Your spelling of pronunciation gave me whiplash.
@@southlondon86 Shit, how did oi bot cahtch ut??s?
So my first influence in filmmaking is... you
Your "Top 15 Mistakes Beginner Filmmakers Make" video finally got me into film-making. I have always loved making videos, but I wanted to give narratives a shot. At least I will have tried than not trying at all.
You helped me and influenced me dude
Love the music choice for this one! - so much more to say about your style and your work but I cant even put it all down during my short lunch break
No reference to Chris Nolan 0/10
Truly inspiring. Thanks!
This is some really good talk. what I think is interesting about all of these films is it struck someone somewhere. Something resonates with someone, its what i keep telling myself when i write a script. That someone will like this scene or line or camera position thats motivated by something in this scene. I dont like the early work of the Duplass brothers but can see some of the brilliance in it. Which is why I think the advice is be your own biggest fan, because youre the first audience member and the first one to know how you did it, if you dont think its cool. No one else will.
Your insight on film really helped me out. Thanks so much.
Spike Lee actually kind ot looks like an older Darious.
Like his face and even the facial hair.
Loved hearing about the people who helped you become the person you are now and why. So good, dude. I can't wait until we can hang out again. It was an amazing time chatting with you and it really stands out for me as one of the best parts of Camera Camp. Hope you're doing well!
What up Bruh-bruh. It was nice chatting with you too. Long nights at camera camp lol!
Thank you D , very inspiring video .
