As a fan from the past that played AC1 and stopped playing AC around 2017 after Origins I'll go so far to say that it saved the franchise for me. So yes.
Mirage doesn't try anything too ambitious. It didn't need to. It was meant to be just a breath of fresh air after the RPG trilogy and a solid stealthy AC game which it is
I started playing it yesterday (I've finished Ac2 recently and I'm still playing Brotherhood) and its just so boring.. The only good Thing to are the graphics and as usual the world Design, thats all. The gameplay is worse than in AC4/Unity/The Ezio trilogy, the parkour is absolutely mid and feels super heavy at Times, Basim is an extremely exchangeable Protagonist and the voice acting/cutscenes are not even worth talking about. Absolutely overhyped Game imo, but maybe I need to gather a bit more Playtime to judge it properly.
@@IronsideGeorge Full synchronization is actually permadeath mode. It's really the only thing I have left to complete in the game. I just have one target left to kill before the Order of the Ancients leader missions and the final mission. I hope I do well on the final boss fight. Edit: I know this is late but I beat permadeath mode on my first try a couple weeks ago. I figured I would lose to the final boss with having almost died to 3 normal enemies with swords and then almost dying to a group of enemies shortly before reaching the final boss. The fight with Roshan went better than I expected. Now I'm trying to finish getting the last couple achievements on the Ezio Collection from The Lost Archive that I have held off from getting for over 5 years and then I will try the Chronicles games.
18:24 complain about the combat being Perry, kill but yet brotherhood, revelations, 3, 4, and rogue was literally the same thing as far as combat. I get this game has its issues, however most of the games of this series has the same combat, just because the animations are different doesn't mean it's not the same thing either. I just don't see the arguments how this game has the worst combat even though most of the games has similar combat
I’ve copied this response from someone who said the same thing ‘The combat imo, is the worst in the franchise. Hence all my points about the simplicity of it all, Basim’s speed, his abilities, the poor ai, how the enemies don’t react to being hit half the time. That clip was just a fun way of showing how simple and boring it is.’ The ai in those games you’re mentioned was much better too, as well as the combat having more animations, more combat options, and just in my opinion actually just being fun. Mirage combat is super boring - to me anyway.
@@IronsideGeorge well u got one thing right, it is your opinion. I'm not saying it's the best thing ever, however I just don't understand the arguments to this game having the worst in the series when it is based off of the other games that I mentioned. I don't see how just because the AI has more animations is a great argument. In my opinion every single one of these games have limitations on the animations
I think I'd wager that Black Flag may just have the worst combat from a playability perspective. Countering is piss easy to pull off, and once the counter is activated, you have 4 options. -Throw enemy -Disarm enemy -Execute enemy -Gadget execute enemy There's basically no reason to pick anything other than the last two options, and once you've done so, you can do a kill-chain in which you just point in the direction of an enemy and watch each of them die like they were nothing. On top of that, you can do a "break defence" move where Edward positions himself behind an enemy. Just press the attack button from there, and they'll die instantly. This takes two buttons to pull off and works on every enemy variant except for Captains. There's not even any benefits to using one weapon over another. Swords, hidden blades, and fists are all functionally the same in combat with no trade off's. Gameplay wise, AC4's combat is pretty crap but it at least has the benefit of looking flashy and fulfilling the assassin power fantasy. Sorry for the long-ass essay. Just wanted to get my point across.
18:23 what is your point here exactly ? Counter parry being an insta kill only happens in normal difficulty and it has been like that in a lot of Ac Games
The combat imo, is the worst in the franchise. Hence all my points about the simplicity of it all, Basim’s speed, his abilities, the poor ai, how the enemies don’t react to being hit half the time. That clip was just a fun way of showing how simple and boring it is.
@IronsideGeorge meh, I wouldn't say the worst. The combat may be less spectacular (I would prefer violent exécutions and more reactions when I hit enemies) But other than that, in most AC games the combat is simplistic I mean what abilities had Ezio or Edward in pure combat ? Even less And the moment you play in hard the challenge added makes it way more interesting than most ac games
If there were 6 things I love about Mirage and 6 things I don't like and/or wish were better: +The city of Baghdad is alive and beautiful and I love how the civilians move such as climbing ladders and laying out carpets +The tools and their upgrades are a real standout +The skill tree is also great and is handled well +The stealth mechanics such as civilians being able to call out the player, the black box missions while not as good as Unity or Syndicate offer a number of options in the assassination missions, and, of course, the tools +The twist at the end of the game as well as the final missions leading up to it were great +The missions with Ali and how he acts and questions the Creed -The story didn't explore Basim's character much and focused mainly on killing targets rather than balancing both elements of the story -The reveal of the Order of the Ancients leader was so underwhelming and the character was just someone thrown in -Not that much side content (I know there was only 2 years for this game but still wish there were more Tales of Baghdad or tomb missions) -The combat is more limited and yeah probably the worst in the series -Sometimes the enemy AI doesn't respond well such as walking past a dead ally without reacting or not investigating that long when Basim whistles -The wilderness doesn't offer much and there isn't even hunting While not a favorite game in the series for me Mirage does offer new opportunities and gameplay mechanic for players like the civilians with raising the notoriety system and permadeath mode being added and it feels like a step in the right direction for the series. -The story didn't explore Basim's character much and focused mainly on killing targets rather than balancing both elements of the story
-The reveal of the Order of the Ancients leader was so underwhelming and the character was just someone thrown in
-Not that much side content (I know there was only 2 years for this game but still wish there were more Tales of Baghdad or tomb missions)
-The combat is more limited and yeah probably the worst in the series
-Sometimes the enemy AI doesn't respond well such as walking past a dead ally without reacting or not investigating that long when Basim whistles
-The wilderness doesn't offer much and there isn't even hunting
