  • Another tutorial on 52 Blocks. Simple technique for up close fighting. Closing the gap as a defense and offense. Jamming the opponents offense by prohibiting arm extension. Also allowing yourself close quarter striking for a quick resolution and mitigating damage at the same time.

    Salute! I know for a fact that when you close the gap as you have shown there is also a possibility of putting a person on their back. With the angle and gap closed depending on the size the leg of the enemy can be trapped with the arm and lifted for a sweep. The strong hand should be free and be used for pushing and follow through.

    I am very happy to have found this system. A little awkward for me, used to more "traditional" things, but I always seek practicality. I tried learning an obscure little style spread in prisons in Michigan called kuta, also known as hakuta, but my teacher passed on as all the people who knew it learned in the '60's and '70's. Have you heard of it? There is a little tiny bit on UA-cam on it.

The possibility definitely is present. However if action is decisive and intentional anything will be fine. Thank you again.

      Peace, appreciate the question… without giving a long winded answer, a few factors (weight, real life situation) come in with an individual whose taller than you. If they’re tall but light, as a disruptive method I’d use this technique with an overhand left. If they’re 20lbs or more then you closing gap in the initial lock up could be a disadvantage and one could be overpowered. However if your wind and stamina is up and after a thunder dome or two, closing gap with this as a disruptive technique even with a taller heavier person (using an overhand) could put your adversary to sleep 😴. Seems like the 2nd defensive posture is unnecessary. The 1st defensive posture covers the same area. The 2nd defensive posture feels awkward, while the 1st defensive posture feels natural. For me, I would use defense posture 1 and then close the gap for a strike sequence.

      52 blocks is 100 percent a true system. I am trained in many styles , most at home in the boxing gym, but I've studied jujitsu, wrestling, Ken-Po and spent a great deal of time in mma studios over the years, but I also spent 14 years in NY correctional facilities, in which I was introduced to 52 blocks, at first I as well questioned it, especially being I had already trained for almost a decade in combat sports, but quickly learned it is a real style and VERY effective in real life situations, especially tight areas and hallways , personally I didn't follow the style 100 percent , but I did add some of the movements to how I trained, and it reminds me of Kalli , the movements and the distraction of hand movements to the opponent. Remember where this style came from, why it's used, cells as small, opponents may have a shank or object to get your face or head.
      I definitely recommend studying it. Even if you don't like the style or find it to be something you'd like to expert in, elements are highly useful.

      @@infinite7fit741 a great point, I have been teaching self defense for 30 years and although I teach specific counters and defenses, these are used to build confidence and muscle memory. When it comes down to the wire and the SHTF the Amygdala response kicks in so I always teach tactics rather than techniques. Use what the brain allows you to against the targets that are presented. Even a flurry of simple slaps can distract or disorientated an attacker long enough to get the brain working again.

    • @infinite7fit741
      @infinite7fit741  Рік тому +1

      Peace King, my understanding of 52 is foundational. Meaning, I build around it. A lot of the most notable 52 techniques “appear” to leave your ribs/midsection exposed. However, once you become proficient 52 “BLOCKS” will indeed incorporate defenses from head to toe. Remember 52 is a complete system. A very small fraction is highlighted and championed. Many layers to go. I personally like to implement a lot of practicality with 52. Knees, elbows and kicks. You rarely see this implemented with 52 yet, it very sure can be. I will I answered your question. Appreciate the question. Peace

    I tell people that 52 blocks work because the defensive styles naturally forms when you go through multiple fights either winning or losing them. I've only fought people bigger and taller all my life, so when I flailed my arms trying to block their long reach, one hit my elbow and that stopped the fight immediately.

    This! the difference between self defence and combat sport! reminds me a lot of elbow boxing, (which comes from the same place as 52 Blocks, originally) and that change to what I know as "helmet guard" or "Rhino" and crashing the gap, spearing into them is widely used in modern combatives. Thank you for this video, definitely something to add to drills and sparring!

    Funny how this is my favorite cqc technique since I've started learning the 52...however I would modify the shell block by not locking my left hand to my wrist rather I would chamber my left for a counter strike as I closed the gap

    • @infinite7fit741
      @infinite7fit741  2 роки тому +1

      Peace, appreciate the intellect in your statement. Shows maturity. I utilized a plethora of different practices and arts I deploy. Clamping the wrist is more so fro the elbow to be used as a spear. Not normally apart of 52 yet 52 is so fluid I can implement anything within the disciple. These videos are examples of what could be utilized. Whatever works in real life is the best technique. Appreciate the dialogue. Peace

      I know one hundred judo throws in addition to muay Thai and jkd. I have worked as a bouncer for over 10 years and fight regularly. To this day, I have Not used more than 9 judo throws in a fight. Does that mean that the other 91 should never be taught? A person with no real fighting experience shouldn't teach someone how to fight is what I think you are meaning you say, in which case that would be correct. But not every fighter has used every technique they've ever learned.
