I'm going to say that I don't actually know what legends Thrawn is really like, but he's a lot better in the new book "Thrawn" than in Rebels, but he's still a bit too nice for my tastes. You have to remember too that Rebels is a kids show and they have to beat him, and also that he's absolutely by far the most competent leader in that whole series.
This may be slightly off topic, but I really want to see a live action star wars movie that is nothing but well action. Keep the melodrama and back story. Give us a movie about a gray Jedi that is hunting down sith or something along those lines. If Disney was cool with Thanos literally killing half the galaxy I don't see them frowning on a bad ass Jedi opening a force can of whoop ass on some scum.

I think it would have been pretty tough for the Sith. Let's face it, they would have probably been killing each other just as fast as the Vong would have been killing them. Although, the Sith would have probably been more proactive at engaging them.
And regular Sith in general while getting more access to raw power often lack the levelheadedness needed for strategy and patience, and more often than not stab each other in the back for personal gain rather than work towards a single goal, hence why they always keep losing. The only exception was Krayt's sith who were just being formed at the time and while they had gotten over the backstabbing issue (mostly) they removed so much of the sith way being formed as a order obsessed expressionless cult.
The more I think about it, the more I agree. It's sort of like the Brotherhood of the Sith in Bane's era from Legends. They agreed not to murder each other except in sparring. There was a time and place for it. Not to mention they were literally fighting an army of Jedi and Republic troops so there was a common goal and I'm sure that helped the situation some.
The Sith would've certainly done a better job at combating the Vong. They're faced with an enemy that wants to kill them just as much as they want to kill them- a unified Sith are deadly. The Republic learnt this prior to the Treaty of Coruscant. With a guiding hand pointing them at a single enemy- they excel. It was only when the war lessened, and Power Plays took over- that the Republic was able to fight back and defeat the Sith. The Vong wouldn't be able to do this; because the Sith wouldn't seek peace. Only death!
A Sith-Vong War would be even more devastating for the galaxy, since the Sith wouldn't have anything preventing them from using the same tactics as the Vong, and would probably be sending hundreds of superweapons out against the Vong, razing the galaxy the same way the Vong razed their home galaxy.
The Sith are just overall superior. Without the infighting they are completely unstoppable. Much like Forgotten Realms Drow. The only that can truly beat them are they themselves.
@@brotherj7328 there is no Sith without infighting. Thats their whole philosophy, even without the rule of two. An empire under the sith cant be stable because of the very nature of the order. The only exception is when there is a ruler strong enough to stand up to all those who would claim his place.

I've been wanting this book for a while now, not only do I want it more, but you've made me see my favorite character in Star Wars as an even bigger badass.
I finished the book a few months back, and I absolutely loved it. I actually read every book and comic Maul related, even Darth Plagueis and Ahsoka, because they both feature him on a small level. Maul Lockdown is probably my favorite, it shows just how technical and calculating Maul was in combat, but also how brilliant he was with planning and even hacking. Moreover, we saw just how impressive his physicality truly was here. The book completely captured why Maul was Sidious' first Sith Apprentice. It also showed he wasn't entirely evil, and cared about people like Komari Vosa and Eogan Truax to some extent.
Darth Maul vs Yuuzhang Vong Warrior, awesome, didnt know that. Another reason I prefer legends to what Disney givrs us. Legends stories and lore is so much richer and more.

Oh wow, I never actually realized that the fight in the book was with a member of the Vong. I'm reading in chronological order for legends, so I haven't actually read anything about the Vong yet.
Same but it does make sense though. They never actually refer to it as a Vong in that story because the Vong are still an unnamed mystery for the Star Wars galaxy during 33 BBY. Its like the creators who made the story knew what they were but they wanted to stay true to legends continuity by making the warrior an unnamed species and just describing it from Maul's point of view which happens to fit the description of the Yuuzhan Vong.
I need to read this again, I am missing only 1 book from the old republic era and that is red harvest the next books im missing start shortly after episode 1 and random books throughout legends.i have maybe 1/3 or 1/4 of the legends books.

WITHOUT USING THE FORCE, no less. I LOVED this gory scene! I found myself cringing while chuckling maniacally and shivering with uncomfortable blood lust as this creature was brutally "Mauled". Murder as art. Who knew?
Imagine if the Vong had shown up during the old republic. Woulda turned that world ship around in no time flat after all those Sith and jedi showed up. -Plus the Siths Starforge would have probably pushed them back outproducing them with the help of the republic.
I loved Darth Maul in that book. Also, if General Grievous was Force sensitive, and had the Geinosians not tweeked his brain, he would have been unstoppable and quite a force to be reckoned with in the Yuuzhan Vong war.
Abe Mora Elves use magic, which would be analogous to either the Force or technology, two things they have sworn off. Meanwhile their literal appearance of random scar tissues and tattoos is almost a straight up migration of orcs into Star Wars.
I’m honestly inclined more to believe that Maul was victorious here because of his insane physique and almost animal like fighting style, Sith as a whole are more brutal, but they are also more rash which will get you killed in a heart beat against the Vong

I think they might. They are similar in numbers if not larger and have no homeworlds of their own. Also their Worldships are similar to Crazftworlds in how they work. And what do you mean about them not having the firepower needed?

It is unkown how many are left out there but since the Eldar aren't that big in number anymore (being described as a dying race) I don't think there can be that many. However their numbers aren't to small it seems but still not as big as they once were.

Great video as always. You weren't half kidding about the extract being brutal. Being killed by the severed head of your poisonous snake being stuffed in your mouth is... Um... Imaginative, if not a little bit heavy. Maul was a little careless, he underestimated his foe and almost didn't live long enough to regret it. But he did defeat a Vong soldier, so he did pretty good.
I think that the sith would be better against the invasion. Darth maul is one of my favorite characters and after hearing this, makes me believe that the sith would be better suited for the invasion. Thank you for this awesome video, keep it up.

Daniel Carmona Reveal Palpatine as a Sith Lord. If the Jedi manage to arrest Palpatine, then the Republic could be able to rebuild itself in the 40+ years before the Vong's invasion. In the original NJO period, the galaxy was divided between the New Republic (who was too busy dealing with their own inner problems) and the Imperial Remnant. Also, there would be over 10,000 Jedi Knights instead of Luke's order having barely over a hundred. The galaxy would still be fucked up, but the destruction wouldn't be as bad as it originally was.
Daniel Carmona After reading Thrawn Trilogy it would be better to warn of the Yuuzhan Vong. The New Republic was incredibly corrupt and flawed to even the point where many Jedi and senators agreed it should have been abolished. It would be better for Palpatine to rule the emporer and a new and improved Republic be born out of it, then for the Republic to become even more and more corrupt. P.S. Read the Legends novel Thrawn Trilogy to understand what I'm saying.
That's a double edged sword there. If you tell them that Palp is Sidious then there's always that chance that nothing will be accomplished in that forty years. Peace doesn't always mean that technology evolves. It could end up that the republic gets its ass kicked when the Vong do arrive. And even if you do tell the Jedi about the Vong, the Vong are devoid of the Force, so there is absolutely no way to verify that you have told them the truth. With all of that said, I'm a glutton for punishment and I'll tell the Jedi about Sidious. Mostly because I like knowing things they don't. I will keep that to myself and learn effective ways to figure out how to defeat them faster. It's a very good question.
Tiny detail but I really love the way the Vong was described, as a mysterious and unclassified alien creature but has enough hints to know exactly what it is.
I agree that the Sith would have dealt with the Yuuzhan Vong better. While there are many philosophies of the Sith, one ancient philosophy of old was that Sith seek power in all its forms, not only the Force. Wealth, influence, armies, and little to no morality to bind them, they would not hold back against the Vong. Even better, some of the biomechanical constructs of the Vong might be turned against them by the Sith, who would be willing to exploit them to their fullest extent. The Sith would also care little for saving civilians or holding back on superweapons or strategic weapons. Of course, this is going by the model of numerous competing Sith existing, not the Rule of Two. While the end product of the Rule of Two, Palpatine, would certainly prove fearsome with Force Storms, he would probably struggle to be everywhere with his clones, and said clones, being identical, could have the same weaknesses and fall prey to specialized tactics and bioweapons crafted by the Vong. Other Force organizations in Palpatine's time would either be on the run from him, or be subservient Dark Siders whose potential was capped and monitored so they cannot challenge him.
Damn thats awesome. I love hearing about Maul stories. Hes such a great villain. So savage and tenacious yet still beatable. Not unstoppable. Just very very skilled.
i rate darth mauls performance as yes since no weapons versus something unknown and like imagine the warrior was in an armour that reflects melee and or the force
The Troller In current canon I don’t recall Maul displaying anything that suggest he has any superhuman strength. Maul as a near-human Zabrak, seems to have strength comparable to a similar-sized human. Legends canon often contradicted itself.
Most likely effective characters against Yuzhan Vong • Grand Admiral Thrawn • Any Wookiee ( Chewbacca was incredible until he died in legends) • General Grievous • Galen Marek( Incredible Force Lighting) • Anakin Skywalker although his force powers wouldn’t do much but his skills were incredible • Jango Fett ( Flame thrower)
At first I hated the Vong. Then they became epic antagonists. They were perfect for the series and I'm sad that they have been thrown away. It was nice to see the Galaxy have to unite to fight a common enemy
Maul: Lockdown is a really good book. I had previously read Dark Tide 1 & 2 but I did not recognize the description of the Yuuzhan Vong in Maul: Lockdown.

Also i heard blue Milk is great for all little Sith Lords who want healthy teeth. Maul did NOT drink his Blue Milk. if your gonna use the Darkside, it helps to use Vibrofloss too. Yoda had all his teeth at 900 + years. Canon? uh yeah!!
When I first read Lockdown I hadn't heard of the Vong yet. But as soon as I read The new Jedi Order, I made the connection almost immediately. I loved this book.

I loved Darth Maul in that book. Also, if General Grievous was Force sensitive, and had the Geinosians not tweeked his brain, he would have been unstoppable and quite a force to be reckoned with in the Yuuzhan Vong war.

I’m honestly inclined more to believe that Maul was victorious here because of his insane physique and almost animal like fighting style, Sith as a whole are more brutal, but they are also more rash which will get you killed in a heart beat against the Vong

I think they might. They are similar in numbers if not larger and have no homeworlds of their own. Also their Worldships are similar to Crazftworlds in how they work. And what do you mean about them not having the firepower needed?

It is unkown how many are left out there but since the Eldar aren't that big in number anymore (being described as a dying race) I don't think there can be that many. However their numbers aren't to small it seems but still not as big as they once were.

Maul was a little careless, he underestimated his foe and almost didn't live long enough to regret it. But he did defeat a Vong soldier, so he did pretty good.

I think that the sith would be better against the invasion. Darth maul is one of my favorite characters and after hearing this, makes me believe that the sith would be better suited for the invasion. Thank you for this awesome video, keep it up.
I loved this book! When I first read it I didn't realize it was a yuzan vong but in retrospect it all made so much sense!

What if you were placed in the Star Wars universe and galaxy with all your Star Wars knowledge during the clone wars would you serve as a prophet to the Jedi revealing palpatine as the Sith Lord or warn them of the yuuzhan vong invasion (legends universe)
Daniel Carmona Reveal Palpatine as a Sith Lord. If the Jedi manage to arrest Palpatine, then the Republic could be able to rebuild itself in the 40+ years before the Vong's invasion. In the original NJO period, the galaxy was divided between the New Republic (who was too busy dealing with their own inner problems) and the Imperial Remnant. Also, there would be over 10,000 Jedi Knights instead of Luke's order having barely over a hundred. The galaxy would still be fucked up, but the destruction wouldn't be as bad as it originally was.

After reading Thrawn Trilogy it would be better to warn of the Yuuzhan Vong. The New Republic was incredibly corrupt and flawed to even the point where many Jedi and senators agreed it should have been abolished. It would be better for Palpatine to rule the emporer and a new and improved Republic be born out of it, then for the Republic to become even more and more corrupt.
P.S. Read the Legends novel Thrawn Trilogy to understand what I'm saying.
That's a double edged sword there. If you tell them that Palp is Sidious then there's always that chance that nothing will be accomplished in that forty years. Peace doesn't always mean that technology evolves. It could end up that the republic gets its ass kicked when the Vong do arrive. And even if you do tell the Jedi about the Vong, the Vong are devoid of the Force, so there is absolutely no way to verify that you have told them the truth. With all of that said, I'm a glutton for punishment and I'll tell the Jedi about Sidious. Mostly because I like knowing things they don't. I will keep that to myself and learn effective ways to figure out how to defeat them faster. It's a very good question.
Tiny detail but I really love the way the Vong was described, as a mysterious and unclassified alien creature but has enough hints to know exactly what it is.
I agree that the Sith would have dealt with the Yuuzhan Vong better.
While there are many philosophies of the Sith, one ancient philosophy of old was that Sith seek power in all its forms, not only the Force. Wealth, influence, armies, and little to no morality to bind them, they would not hold back against the Vong. Even better, some of the biomechanical constructs of the Vong might be turned against them by the Sith, who would be willing to exploit them to their fullest extent. The Sith would also care little for saving civilians or holding back on superweapons or strategic weapons.
Of course, this is going by the model of numerous competing Sith existing, not the Rule of Two. While the end product of the Rule of Two, Palpatine, would certainly prove fearsome with Force Storms, he would probably struggle to be everywhere with his clones, and said clones, being identical, could have the same weaknesses and fall prey to specialized tactics and bioweapons crafted by the Vong. Other Force organizations in Palpatine's time would either be on the run from him, or be subservient Dark Siders whose potential was capped and monitored so they cannot challenge him.
Palpatine likely solos the Vong ngl.

Lockdown was an amazing book, the author is very talented. He also wrote Death Troopers and Red Harvest, the latter being my personal favorite work.

The Troller In current canon I don’t recall Maul displaying anything that suggest he has any superhuman strength. Maul as a near-human Zabrak, seems to have strength comparable to a similar-sized human. Legends canon often contradicted itself.

At first I hated the Vong. Then they became epic antagonists. They were perfect for the series and I'm sad that they have been thrown away. It was nice to see the Galaxy have to unite to fight a common enemy
Maul: Lockdown is a really good book. I had previously read Dark Tide 1 & 2 but I did not recognize the description of the Yuuzhan Vong in Maul: Lockdown.
