I'm coming to see you all. I am considering transitioning from my kayaks to a canoe due to hip issues. This is the best video with the most useful information. Thank you !! I'm looking for flatwater canoe. No river paddling. Lightweight and tracking are my key points.

Question: for river camping, and to minimize swamping, would say an old town sportsman 120 fishing kayak be better versus the discovery 119 hybrid or a traditional canoe I’m new, so I’m just trying to research as much as I can before I buy. Thanks

A fishing kayak is designed for flat water only. I've seen videos of people using the Discovery 119 on rivers and doing ok. It doesn't have much room for camping gear though. There is a reason people use 15-16 ft tandem canoes for solo camping trips. They need to cargo space for flotation bags and their gear.

You should look into the Old Town Discovery 133k. I one and although it is a bit on the heavy side, it is very stable and has a manageable capacity of about 600lbs. It also has a full length keel so it tracks very well.

Some beautiful canoes in this video, but here in the UK canoes are rare and expensive. these would probably go over £3000. I have a Perception kayak for now and can't justify the expense to change to a canoe.

Here in the US those canoes go for over $3,000 usd

I think a kayak would generally be more suitable for the waters around the UK right? That’s just an assumption.
Here in the US it seems like kayaks are also much more popular and common. I just went to a local outdoor supply store and they had dozens of kayaks but not one single canoe.

Welcome to eastern and Arctic Canada! My Nova Craft Prospector 17 in Tuffstuff just laughs it off.

Look Sir, having a technical discourse with a music backing track for distraction is a big No No. I appreciate what you are trying to do, but music and technicalities do not mix.

This was a great video. One of the best I've seen on this subject.
