Government should not be in the business of running an electricity company or water company for that matter. All these companies should be privatized, and i can guarantee people of Ghana all these power outages will be over. A private company will ensure constant electric supply since that is how they will be profitable. There is no utilities company in the west that is run by the government.

The problem is over capacity. They should have done the power grid according to each region so each region has it own grid and then the national grid would be use for backup. Here in the USA that how the power grid is set up it’s by corridors. If Ghana did the same they won’t have power problem

I strongly believe that if ECG and GWCL were run by private companies, they would ensure that they provide accurate and efficient services. This is because government management is often ineffective, and private companies are generally more adept at running such enterprises.
In the North we do experience it with NEDCo but if you are able to reach the Complaints desk they get to tell you what resulted in that and if there's the need for any maintenance a communique is released before that. It's not 100% but listening to what ECG is doing down south we are better of. Our politicians are just playing politics with the electricity.
