Still having an ‘N’ track warranty despite the higher centre of gravity on this car probably explains why they slapped an “increased rollover hazard” warning sticker on the driver side sun blind 😬
Can LED spotlights be added to the Kona N? Helpful for outback driving where you need to see the roos before you offer them a ride! I understand the CANBUS wiring harness in some modern cars with LED driving lights restrict after market spotlights. Not sure if this is true for the Kona N???
The way that thing was going up on two wheels, yikes. That may be why the steering wasn't as good, if they added more camber and caster you get to much front end grip, makes it to easy to snap roll this thing. Imagine with some really sticky tires, some are going to roll these for sure. If you want to be up high, something has to give. Still looks like a hoot, but i would not try to increase grip (especially in the front). Great review, none of the others showed this thing tilting like this, that was fun to watch.
1st comment! 5th Like! @9:28 At last! An aussie review on this totally useless (Non AWD) Compact SUV, that I predict will sell like the proverbial hot-cake in the land down under Oz. Well done Chasing Cars boys!! I've so far noticed, many, many, US reviews of the Kona N all complaining about it having no-sunroof. Yet by the miracles of I don't know what, I've already noted that in Oz we have a Hyundai Kona N Premium (Not N-Line) with a standard sunroof, I nearly dropped my hot coffee all over myself! Is Hyundai giving Australia something the Yanks aren't getting? Yet? ..Oh all Kona N's are sold out in Oz for 2021, Thanks again Hyundai :( I hope some aussie cartube channel beats other cartube channels, in holding this completely useless comparo, we all want to know!!!! A drag race and circuit lap-time shootout between a i30N/i20N/Kona N (+the Elantra N/i30N Sedan when it arrives), be interesting to see how far behind the Kona N would be compared to the 1.6LT i20N.
The multi layer light design reminds me of zeekr001, but after seeing one on the road they still look cheap and plastic like for some reason (too much black plastic?)
To me the double set of lights front and rear make it just look like they cut the top half off an i30 and placed it on top of another completely different car.
I would take a T-Roc R or Cupra Formentor, depending on price (when they arrive) or even a SQ2, if I could get a good discount, over the Kona N. Still quite like the Kona N, however tracking isn't a requirement so I would prefer a slightly softer ride (most other reviews note it is firm even in comfort mode) for normal use and AWD is of benefit in driving in adverse conditions on the road.
Great review, but why did it take more than a month to post it? Is it because of the chip shortage and cars are getting hard to source even for reviewers?
Shortages have meant lumpy arrival dates for a lot of cars. Some customers received their cars well before Hyundai Australia received some of theirs and could hold the launch you see on video here.
@@chasingcars ah, got it. in america they are just releasing all the videos whether the car is available or not. Technically we have the Kona N, but who knows if it's on any lot.
And that what makes this Kona more appealing that the 1.6 turbo. Really is that it all it takes to make you happy to.Mate if that is what it takes save a ton money and buy the 1.6. And they are far too expensive.
I've got a 1.0 Kona, supposedly tuned for the road. The ride is abysmal and if you wear false teeth, invest in some superglue. I can only imagine that either they strapped hard sports springs on it by mistake, or if they've increased the stiffness on the N to keep it on the straight and narrow, if you hit a pothole in that, your head will fall off.
It's crept up on me, I'm liking Nathan's reviews. The Kona not so much, it's way too close to the i30 in both standard and N setups. If you're buying a Kona you should be buying the i30 (save thousands), the height difference is sfa. In fact I'd suggest that if you sat in an i30 and set the seat at it's highest position and then switched to the Kona in it's lowest seat position there would be a cadogan's dicks difference.
I'm an absolute purist, which is why I have a built track car and am looking for an excellent daily driver that can realistically be tracked if I'm feeling silly.
The sad part of all these cars is that stupid N thing I don't wanna program my car to race mode I want it to do it by itself.... from normal to beast just by flooring the petal.
No way is this a utility vehicle, less room than the hatch, still fwd, low profile tyres and no tow capability. I can tell you now this car will sink in mud or sand faster than a lead balloon so don't even attempt it 🤣 . this is a nothing but sport car for people with bad knees. That's it.
This review by Russel Crowe is by far the best one of the Kona n I’ve seen.
Hyundai will love that two wheel corner, which looked to me just moments from the point of no return.👍😊
Yeah but that was Hyundai driver doing those track shots not this fellow

Looks like it'll ace the moose test.
Fastest N cars in order
1. I30 Sedan N aka Elantra N aka Avante N
2. Kona N
3. I30 N DCT
4. I30 Fastback N DCT
5. Preface lift i30Ns
6. I20 N
Great video, recently bought an I30N dct, and love it. That looks quite impressive on the track
Thanks! Enjoy the i30.
Just bought one love it!
Love the reviews on all the Hyundai N cars , finally settled on a i20n , been waiting 4months already.
I soooo wish we could get that car in America - the ultimate hot hatch.
I always trust a man who's glasses double as industrial strength eye protection.
12:48 holy shit what an amazing corner
2 trim levels and 7 colors. The US only gets 1 trim level and 4 colors. (Soon to be 2 colors)
still waiting for Hyundai to release the Palisade N 🤞

Great review as always.
Being higher suits me. My old knees find it difficult to get in and out of an i30. That's why I bought a Kona N.

Love ❤️ your videos ✨
I have had 3/ford focus which is the better car 🚙?
ordered a kona n been waiting for months and the date of arrival just keeps getting pushed back
Good cloth seats are awesome. These remind me of the old GD WRX seats.
Didn't get notifications for this new video....
Yeah, something seemed to be up with the notification for this one
Matte black or matte dark grey, please!.👍🏼👌🏼😉

At this price and expectation it needs AWD. What's the point otherwise in having this over the hatch?
Some people want a higher driving position and the shorter wheelbase gives it a different dynamic when cornering
Can’t for my one to come that I have ordered
Enjoy!
@@chasingcars I’m sure I will enjoy it!!
What does the ( N ) stand for?
Hyundai could use some of these visuals. Top top quality.

Been trying to find the I30N Sedan reviews but nothing for Australian reviews at the moment :(
Reviews should be out tomorrow

How can you compare front wheel Kona to Audi SQ2 quatrro? wet or dry its a day and night and in any other department !!!
Because they’re similarly sized small performance SUVs with similar ethos, one being FWD doesn’t mean they aren’t competing
If the Kona N came with a manual transmission I would be in line tomorrow. Yes, I'm in a very small minority that would want a third pedal in this car

For me, the Kona isn't attractive. Just too many things going on with the front and rear lights.
It’s busy, no doubt about it, but a lot of people clearly like the Kona. It’s quirky.
Not as ugly as the I30 N sedan, just about on par with the hatch, whilst the fastback has the most attractive exterior design out of the N models.
@@damo5701 100% on the sedan's fuglyness, other offerings are decent from the N range. God knows what Hyundai was thinking when they designed that!
Can you get this car without the red stripes?
If you buy it in red, the stripes are black
You can just wrap it.
The sad part of all these cars is that stupid N thing I don't wanna program my car to race mode I want it to do it by itself.... from normal to beast just by flooring the petal.
$47K??????????? WTF
Hyundai can never make up it’s mind on the design of the exterior looks. It’s always over done.
Argyle car
Das Design wirkt peinlich
