Great coverage APE, clear and to the point. 73
Thanks Ferdinand, glad you liked it 👍
Ape, I love these videos. You take complex sciency stuff and explain it in a way that is not insulting to the “experts” or over the heads of the newbs. Fantastic video.
Thanks Bob, I appreciate the feedback 👍
Enjoyed!! Even if I didn't understand it, I felt I did. 🎓 Thanks
Haha, thanks for watching Bill 👍
I love ham radio potpourri. I'm ready for Jeopardy! Good job buddy!
Ham radio potpourri is the best potpourri!
Great information, 73!!! Keep it coming!!!
Thanks Ammed, glad you liked it 👍
Thank you, good info on something I was having trouble with!!
Awesome, glad it helped!
Good video Ape I was just describing this stuff at work. Your video did a much better job explaining it. Great timing.
Hey Ben! Thanks for checking it out bro...
Holy cow. Easiest and most digestible way to pass ionosphere info I've seen. Thanks a lot!
Thanks Pasje, I’m glad it was helpful 👍
Great video just one small thing, Penticton is pronounced pen tic ton. I've been to the radio observatory many times it's awesome. Penticton is also a great little vacation spot that has lakes with fantastic beaches on the north and south ends of town. In the winter there is access to some of the best skiing in the world. DE VA7DLC.
Thanks for the info, had no idea.
Good informative video as usual. 😀
Thanks Thump 👍
Thanks for explaining all D layers for us Ape 👍 great art skills btw
Lol, thanks brother 👍
Love the sarcasm. Hail hard rocking amigo 🤘
Thanks Mick, appreciate you watching bro 👍🍻
Great explanation. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent
Thanks Kevin 👍
I really enjoyed this video as a new general class amateur radio operator You really broke it down and made all the theory make a lot of sense so thank you very much!
Awesome Mike, glad to be a help 👍
Awesome talk man. I appreciate not shitting on people like me that have no idea what any of this is. 👍
The only way we can grow the hobby is to welcome folks and then help them when they are here. Thanks for checking out the video Daren!
Great content! Learned something today.
Glad to hear it!
Was that a round Earth in the first slide? LOL. Thanks for another good video. Refreshers like these are always helpful. The videos are a good length that makes them easy to digest too.
The coverup is sooo deep it’s hard to find a good flat Earth depiction 😳
The darned layer i though the d layer absorbed the signals i rememberd it in my studies back then⚛
Thanks for watching Atoms 👍
@@TheSmokinApe no problem its a pleasure thank you it will teach other new hams out thier good information 👍💯
The D layer forms in the day time because photons from the sun that are shorter and more energetic than the 100 nM photons that form the F layers are present. The D layer is formed from 10nM (approaching x-rays) that can make it that far though the atmosphere.
Technically the D layer does not have a MUF as it never refracts EMF.
Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that NVIS must be above the D layer LUF and below the F layers MUF.
You have given me a lot to chew on Ape. Thanks for the videos!
Yes with NVIS there is less D layer to go though BUT the MUF generally is also higher at lower transmission angles.
This is a confusing but real concept. Where you wish to go through the D layer but get refraction from the F layers.
The way I look at the D layer and the F layer have different MUFS for NVIS to work your frequency must be above the D layer MUF and lower than than the F layer MUF. Did i get it right? Does that make sense?
I agree that the D and F layers behave differently but as far as I know there is only one MUF which is an estimation.
Ape is right. The capabilities of Dual Hologram technologies now are astounding. Too bad they limit Ham licences to humans, your pain must be real. But, that is how they get ya.
It’s exactly how they get you!
I think we need a D flux index
You damn right we do 👀
Is not MUF the highest frequency returned at a verticle angle and that is goes up as you go from vertical to horizontal?
The critical frequency is tested by sending the signal vertically 👍
How many watts does it take for this to work?
You can make contacts on as little as 1w
IonoSPHERE??!? Spreading round earth misinformation I see.
I’m voting to name it the Ionosflat 👍
🤔 the ionosheet?
