This song is an SMTOWN concert staple with ‘Dear My Family’. The producer is Kangta who sings after Changmin’s high note. He debuted in SM’s first kpop boy group H.O.T. in ‘96 and wrote the song for his group in ‘98. He’s still with SM and is actually on the board of directors just like BoA (another kpop legend). If you ever get to look up the lyrics it’s a really wholesome song with beautiful lyrics.

I always loved that SM artists perform this song as a concert ending song. It’s an H.O.T song, and H.O.T was the first ever Kpop Idol group. And I love that they brought Kangta in @4:31 right before the final chorus since he’s a member of H.O.T and one of the OG Kpop Idols. It’s weird to think that, had SM not took the risk , built a the "formula and created H.O.T, we may not have Kpop the way we do today.

The song was written by Kangta. He was part of the 1st gen and his group was called H.O.T. He's at 4:33 The song was for the 1997 crisis in Korea.
Fun fact: This is the song “Hope” by SM (and Kpop’s) first ever idol group H.O.T. It has been the ending song for SM TOWN concerts for the past 10 years. SM has done other songs for all their artists, such as “Dear My Family,” and even old winter and summer albums back in the day. And yes SM FAMILY is the best..

"Hope" is a song from the first group of boys that SM had, called H.O.T. They were one of the first groups that founded the foundations of kpop as it is known today, in addition to the song conveying a beautiful message. Kangta is the only member of the group that is still in the company as a soloist, who comes out at minute 4.30. It is one of the 2 songs that are sung as a group by all the artists of the company at the end of each SM Family concert. it's very moving and a very special moment where the artists really show themselves as family.

Kangta actually wrote this song when he was 17 (Edit: 24 years ago) back when he was in H.O.T. (SM’a first boy group). And now he’s a director at SM along with Boa (who also wasn’t present for the concert). And I totally agree with you, it’s so nice seeing the different generations of groups/artists performing together. It’s actually the only instance I know of where all 4 generation of kpop artists stand together on one “stage”. It’s amazing how H.O.T./Kangta were the first group SM debuted and now all of their artists are performing their song.
Yes, Shinee, Girls’ Generation, F(x), and EXO were not here for the concert, mainly because they were inactive for the year. But SM stans are hoping for an EXO comeback as well as rigorously preparing for Shinee’s comeback next month. There’s a possibility for an SNSD comeback but the chances are low since the members are focusing on their solo careers right now. And there’s a very little chance of a F(x) comeback now that the members have left SM.

"Hope" is the song that they perform at the end of every SMTown concert, it's SM's signature song -- it's not really a Christmas song. It's usually one of the most fun stages because we get a lot of unscripted interaction between the groups and the members and you get to see exactly how much of a family the members of SM really are. This song is usually performed just like this, but live, where you get all of SM's artists singing together as they wander around the stage at the end of the concert.
"Hope" was wrote by Kangta, the main vocalist of H.O.T., way back in the the 1990s when H.O.T. was active and it was originally sung by H.O.T. It has since been adopted by SM as a sort of anthem that represents SMTown now. Kangta is a founding member of the Kpop industry and he is now a solo artist, actor, vocal coach, etc., as well as a member of SM's board of directors, along with BoA.
SM usually holds an SMTown concert every year. SMTown concerts are extra fun because it's a great way to see all of SM's groups and artists all at one concert. Normally each group will perform 2 or 3 of their most iconic or newest songs, etc. and then we also get unique collaboration performances with members from different groups. SMTown collaboration performances are often performances that you will never see anywhere else, so it makes for an extra fun element to these concerts. SMTown concerts are also often part of a tour, so they also perform all over the world giving fans a chance to see SM artists traveling together.
However, this year it was a little different because of social distancing and the fact that they were unable to actually perform live. Unfortunately, we didn't have any interaction between groups. I missed that part of this performance and the ending moment in the concert the most. I love the end of SMTown concerts because we usually get to see everyone just playing around and having fun together. Normally they would be wearing an SMTown T-shirt at the end of the concert that was designed as this year's concert T-shirt, but I guess SM decided not to create a T-shirt this year, and instead went with all white shirts.
SMTown concerts are like the history of Kpop all in one concert, from Kangta who was part of the very first Kpop Idol boy group H.O.T. to aespa who is SM's first 4th gen group -- Almost 25 years of Kpop is represented in this video.
Actually Mark's rap line was sang by SHINEE's Minho before then passed it to EXO's Chanyeol and now Mark, it's like that part was passed down to sm's great rappers it's just so fascinating
Someone mentioned it somewhere, now let me remind you. SM is a family and the idea of a concert together does not surprise anyone, on the contrary, everyone is happy to see them together, not like other labels.
You should see (or maybe even react to) SM’s official performance of “Dear My Family” which was performed back in 2016. This was before AESPA and some of NCT debuted so they aren’t in that video. This was also before Jonghyun’s passing so he’s also in there. They released the video a few days after his passing with a dedication at the end. It’s honestly such a heartwarming song and perfectly encompasses what it means to be a part of a family, even if you aren’t related to one another.

4:03 this part is actually Kangta's part and nobody can't replace him, since H.O.T, SM Town 1st concert until SM Town last concert a while ago, but this time he gave his special part for Taemin. I watched this concert with all my friends, actually since the first concert tho at first we saw Yunho, Eunhyuk, Shindong for the rap part, and then Minho, Hyoyeon, Amber, and now Mark Lee, Jeno, Irene, Karina. And then we cried when we realized we grew up with SM, SM rlly feels like family for us.

KangTa actually wrote this song when he was 17, and it became an H.O.T single in 1998. This is the ending song of every SMTOWN concert when the entire family goes on stage together. It's both sad and happy watching the lineup all the way from the first generation SM artists and their iconic SMTOWN IDs to when these concerts started and having to see the owner of the lines transform and grow throughout the years. I remember the original MV of Hope featuring cancer patients. Kangta wrote such a beautiful song and I love how this has always been SMTown's ending song. I miss them singing this live. Also, I waited for KangTa to show up because I can't process 'Hope' without KangTa. LOL

Jeff, you should check SMTOWN Only Love; Snow Dream; Hotmail; Red Sun; Let's go on a trip etc. They are all SMTOWN songs from different year. SM used to release collaboration song from all their artists once a year, sometimes twice a year until 2007 (if I remember correctly).

SM is such a big family. When I started discovering KPOP with SHINee, I never thought one day I would just be simply a SM artist stan, knowing all of their artists and knowing when they are dropping something new. Even if before most of them were older or my age or younger but still close to my age (the youngest at that time were Krystal and Sulli), now with NCT and aespa mostly, they are all so young but I still really love all of them.
I also can't wait to see what aespa has in store for us. They are so promising!

Hope is a song by H.O.T Kangta was one of the original members that is still in SM and active and this song has been sung by SMTown family after end of all their SMTown concerts. It's sad that they aren't complete in this one SM should have at least included all their artists but still it was an amazing MV
H.O.T is a first gen group under SM ent and is an amazing old school group but 4 out of 5 members have left only kangta is left but he is still active ever since then rarely seen but still there he is always seen in SMTown Concerts

SMW really is my favorite label. A lot of people are talking shit by saying it's the worst label but there is not a good company in kpop. Of course sometimes they don't treat their artists properly and they suck at doing promotion but not every family is great, right? However, you can't deny they have great artists with passion and devotion. And that's what I like about this house. I want to follow every generation for a long time.

The moment I finished the SMTown live concert that lasts 4 hours made me realized how much of a SMTown stan I am.
Watching SMTown Beyond live make me realise how precious it is to be able to watch them perform in person..
