thank you for a great video, you forgot the DIDI/Grab app that is needed, and Ali Pay to pay, however cash also can be used. Also possible use of Esim , can also purchase VPN card for china on line.

Google Translate worked for me a few months ago. I have friends in China so things are pretty easy for me. High energy and a sense of adventure is key. I did get kicked out of a hotel after checking in once. LOL. What exactly is travel insurance?

Dian is it better to use hotmail or gmail whilst in china and connect with vpn.
I was able to use wechat with a foreign card.

I was in China last three weeks and used Astrill VPN, which was working ALL THE TIME, even in Xinjiang (Kashgar- Turpan)

It’s hard because i don’t know which app to download. For example, when I type Baidu, I get 2 different apps one is a blue paw with “du” written on it and another with a red pin with “du” also
The blue paw is the search engine- think of it as google and the red pin one is the baidu map - similar to google maps. Hope this helps ☺️
Can to explain more how to set vpn? Does it require to set vpn manually? Or we can just use vpn like normally? Do We just need to activate the vpn right before boarding to china?
The vpn app should give you instructions... Some require downloading/connecting in the phone setting. Some works immediately in the app. Yes, make sure the vpn works before arriving.

1 question tho, how do I change baidu map to English?
Unfortunately Baidu Map’s software interface does not permit translations to English. What you can do is type the place you want to go in alphabet or pinyin and it still will show

For restaurant recommendations you can use 大众点评. Map wise, i only used baidu

I would say don’t rely on free vpn because it usually don’t work in China

I don’t think so. I saw many foreigners who were using android in China. But I personally can’t clarify it because I didn’t use android there
