Before you remove the first strut make sure you have the boot propped up because one strut will not hold the boot up as I found out when it came crashing down on my head......
Thank you for the heads up. I used a 6 ft. ladder to prevent it from crashing down. Took all of 15 minutes, which included the time to locate the proper tools, to install on both sides and works like a charm!
what size spring is that? Where did you buy them? Do they rattle when closed and driving?
I got a seperate issue when where can i find replacement rear windows with the grid lines on them?
Hey man, I installed these myself and they work but the only problem is the resistance when trying to close the trunk, and sometimes it doesn't close all the way. Is there something I can do to help this problem?
Jack Tunney
The resistance is normal since when you close the hatch your preloading the spring to '"Pop" it open. Now make sure your struts are OEM Stabilus shocks. If they are aftermarket the dimensions could be different causing the issues.
Hey guy how long are the springs length ?
My x5 rear hatch will not open
Is there a diameter size available please?
What is the size of the springs, length in the bent and stretched position, outer diameter, inner diameter, diameter of the spring itself?
From factory they open alone you just need brand new struts
What spring size do you recommend installing?

Donde conseguiste el resorte?
Hiii please I tried this on my 1 series E87 and my trunk couldn’t close
May be the springs are too long? What's de dimensions that you get???

Here is the link for the Springs: www.ebay.com/itm/192826483820

what is the total length of the blue spring?
L=65mm x O/D=24mm x I/D=13mm
Where you get those from?

Bonsoir je peux avoir les dimensions svp
Will these work on an e83 X3? Or are they the wrong length?
No they don’t work on the X3. I don’t have a solution for the X3 since there isn’t enough space on the strut for a spring.
@@TomasBMW That's too bad. I have seen others do it though:

If you figure out how to make one like the video above, I'd definitely get it!
cool...
What size are the springs?
4 and 5/ eights long
is it work on E70
no
They rattle like crazy. I removed them after only a week.
how long are the springs?
The don't rattle when the rear hatch is closed but only when you open it. I took rubber cement and put a light coating on the base of the springs and closed the hatch. Leave closed allowing the rubber cement to dry. Problem solved.
Great simple way to easily open the rear hatch. However, stand back when opening with your remote. Otherwise it may hit you in the face as the door opens quickly.
I just did this mod, works great but there is allot of tension stored on the struts when the hatch is closed, has there been any problems?
No
Still no issues with the spring under tension for so long?
Fantastic idea. I just fitted new struts to mine, got fed up with being hit on the head every time I went into the boot(trunk). I will definitely be fitting these!
How much is the spring? Length, width and hole inside?
theres a link to it in the description to eBay but $34.95US I'm sure theres cheaper ones that will do the same trick. Be better if they wrote it in the description better to guide you to it.
Vic, how can they rattle, their under tension, mine don't.
A set was install on my X5. The struts are on hood shape. Yet, the lid only popped open. Now, it SWINGS open! You have to stand back or you’ll get a good whack! Spring Size is four and five/eights long. Works great!
Hey i have e53 the trunk lower latches tailgate not holding ( closing )
Any suggestions?
Hey dude, nice ring. Where did you get it? It's the exact wring I have for my wedding ring.
Azerbaijani 🇦🇿🇦🇿
I fitted that springs on my x5 e53 and the boot doesn't open automatically like that maybe I need to buy new struts
If it doesn’t go up on its own after pulling up the hatch about 12” inches then the struts are tired and need replacing. Get the OEM STABILUS brand struts. The Tuff Struts brand won’t work with these springs.
@@TomasBMW Thanks a lot I thought the same just one thing do u put that little rubbers as well wich it comes with the spring I order 2 exact what it is on the car so it should be fine I'll let u know once they arrived tomorrow gona fit some smoked tail lights thanks for the reply
🏆 👍🏾
Where i can get this for my 03 range rover
I’d did what you did didn’t work
If it doesn’t continue to go up then your struts are weak and need replacing. Make sure to buy the Stabilus brand struts. The Tuff Struts brand don’t work with these springs since the dimensions are different.
do you post to spain?
Yes eBay Global Shipping will send it to Spain. www.ebay.com/itm/192826483820
does this work on an 06 x3 ?
upstate bushcraft
Sorry no this won't work on a X3
Worked perfectly, many thanks!
Can you share a link where to buy them?
@@FranciscoSilva-qt4es perfect thank you very much man
I got mine from ebay for $34.95, over priced but they work.
