  • Why is a used Porsche so expensive? There are a number of reasons they're not cheap, but I still ended up buying a used Porsche 911. Why did I do that, even though used Porsche's are so expensive? Well, there's just something special about this car brand. They've really done something special, and today I'm going to show you why!

    I know an old guy, much like myself, who has a nice C7, but he still followed his passion and purchased a new 911 a couple of years ago. He said the 911 was his dream car. If you can afford it, I say live out your automotive fantasies while you still have a passion for life.

      Lexus/Toyota makes great cars! I have owned a few of them. I bought a Porsche Macan S a year ago and now I am ruined for life! I could never drive anything else. This little heavy SUV is a driving beast. At 60 years old my love for cars and driving was renewed. This lil beast makes me feel young again. My rebel youth is back lolol it's not unusual for me to hit triple digits when a mustang runs flying up behind me wanting to pass. oh no you dont ford!! Hahahahaha

      Had a Macan S, drove it for 3 plus years, loved it, got the 911 itch and traded it in for a 2016 911 and love it too. It’s just brutal on my old rear end… so I got a used Lexus LS430. So much softer. But I still drive the 911 on weekends! 😊 potholes be damned!

    It’s March, time to take the Christmas decorations down. Also, I bought a 2000 Boxster S 3.2L ten years ago and now it’s worth more than when I bought it. It’s not as hard to work on as people think, did the coils and plugs recently and it took me a couple hours. Replaced the IMS bearing when I did the clutch, not that bad.

      @@ECPP But in my opinion above Porsche, stands Lotus. Had a '72 Lotus Europa. The handling was UNBELIEVABLE. A 105 BHP, transversely mounted engine got that lithe 1350lb car moving as smoothly as silk through turns at unexpected speeds without concern. And you ALWAYS knew when you reached the limit...sometimes a challenge for a rear engined Porsche. Take an Evora for a run. Tell me what you think.

  • @TexasRiverRat31254
    @TexasRiverRat31254 Місяць тому +2

    Agree with everything you said but I wanted one with the engine in the "right place" so I bought a Cayman, don't need a back seat and the handling is sublime on the narrow, twisty, roller coaster roads where I live. It's my second and they aren't that difficult to work on after you get the covers off. Older Caymans are the same as a 911 from the doors forward and can be had for far less than a 911. But if you want a car that's a joy to drive and Porsche is great!

    As an owner of a 2014 C2S, for ten years i can say that it is the most reliable car i ever owned. Never failed me even when something is wrong, which rarely happens, usually i can still drive it for weeks before i get to dealership, despite some not so good roads and very high temperatures that can go up to 55 C, with abuse driving it still went on no problems. and despite somewhat high labor costs, parts themselves sometimes are either relatively cheap or actually cheaper than lesser brands, heck my Velar costed me more to maintain and repair more than my 911 did since i bought it in almost 12 years ago. Even my wife is considering a Porsche after using my car for a couple of years. And still I enjoy driving it more than anything i ever driven. Once Porsche always Porsche, and there is no substitute to Porsche

    Great video. hey quick question, Does it consume any oil during regular service? Love them but i hear so many bore scoring horror stories requiring expensive engine rebuild.

    • @ECPP
      @ECPP  3 місяці тому +1

      HI, oil consumption is somewhat normal on 911s but from my experience, these later model liquid cooled cars tend to drink less oil than the older air cooled cars. With that said, bore scoring was much more common in the S model with the larger engine than the smaller 3.4/3.6 and keeping air filters clean as well as oil in general is very important in preventing this issue. A PPPI and a boresecope or mayhbe a leakdown test can flush this issue out if ypu are buying a used car.

    Congrats...I bought a Macan and love it. The main reason was the build quality...it is still built in Germany and while it is still a mass-produced car, the quality control is leaps and bounds above other manufacturers. It was the best driving and handling car of any I drove. It is also funny you mention the buttons and switches because I noticed that even the way they feel is superior to other cars. The downside is the cost of maintenance but if you are going to buy a Porsche you have to maintain it and you have to understand it isn't going to cost the same as some Honda or Mazda or something.
