The Raid 2 is my favorite action film of all time. People always rave about the first. But I think its sequel has far exceeded expectations. Bigger scale, even more brutal action, story expansion. It's like the director heard the nitpick of the first for not having a intact plot and went "Here's 2H30M of mob feud, undercover story, stunning choreographed action sequences. You're welcome."
The Raid 2 is one of the sequels that felt like a total upgrade to its prequel. Its hard to achieve and its probably one of the reasons why Gareth Evans wont do the third installment.
But it didn’t give the chills like Raid 1
@@FalconTheFries 1 had the claustrophobic vibes, part of the reason why it felt more tense.
Best equivalent imo is Arkham Asylum followed by Arkham City
I like the first one more.
The Raid is easily one of the best action movies of all time. It's honestly sad Hollywood doesn't know how to use The Raid's actors' fighting talent properly with those cliche shaky cam and quick cut editing
Me and Mrs are just after watching the second there now and the first last night! 2 masterpiecea
And to add on, bloody scenes
Check out The night comes for us its excellent, extreme violence with the raid lads its mental

I think that The Raid is one of the best action movies of all time. You have to imagine how tiring it was for the actors to fight so much in a movie while shot in a tight and dusty building that is probably hard to breathe in.
Yeah it's great. And the second one's even better.
Besides of being a total badass martial art films. The raid movies also had an actual good gunfights and even a cool car chase in the sequel
I can't believe it's been 15 Years since Bourne Identity ( 2007 ) was released.
It just feels like it happened yesterday.
Wao !!!
Time really flies, We should not waste it.
‘Skyfall’, the first James Bond movie who made over a billion globally and also won an Oscar in 2013.
that makes me sad
Skyfall was shit
i loved skyfall but casino royale (2006) was clearly better.
@Snehil Shrey you think Skyfall is mediocre but are ok with Furious 7 and Free Guy?
Skyfall is my favorite bond movie besides Goldeneye
The Raid should have been 1. Fury Road is amazing and I love it, but The Raid is the perfect action film.
Isn't the second one better?
@@eyob.t1389 I think it really depends on who you ask. I think the second one is better but anyone who prefers the first isn't wrong either.
The Raid 2 should have been number 1
@@crobeastness i agree 1000%
@@themah78 Good answer
Scott Pilgrim was so ahead of its time. If it was release today, there's no chance it would be a box office bomb.
Had no idea it bombed?
It was a boring ass cringe movie
Kick Ass should've made the list. Scott Pilgrim again borders on that line of action and comedy. 21 Jump Street is definitely a comedy and has no business being on this list. The same goes for Free Guy and Hot Fuzz. Edge Of Tomorrow is more forgiving but I see it more as a sci-fi comedy. Edge Of Tomorrow is one of my favorite movies but if I'm laughing more than being on the edge of my seat, it's more of a comedy in my eyes. Bill Paxton is hilarious, Tom Cruise gives one of his funniest performances, the groundhog day effect is hilarious to watch until it starts getting serious with Emily Blunt who's the only character in the film that gives it an action type feeling but for the most part its a sci-fi comedy.
For the lazy ones:
20. Kingsman: The Secret Service
19. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
18. Upgrade
17. Taken
16. 21 Jump Street
15. Free Guy
14. Oldboy
13. The Bourne Ultimatum
12. Edge of Tomorrow
11. Ip Man 2
10. Hot Fuzz
9. Furious 7
8. Baby Driver
7. Skyfall
6. John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum
5. Croutching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
4. Mission: Impossible - Fallout
3. Kill Bill: Volumes 1 & 2
2. The Raid
1. Mad Max: Fury Road

Totally agree with the MI: Fallout entry. One of the only action movies that has (quite literally) brought me to the edge of my seat
I remember watching it in the theater and the dood behind us was literally on his seats edge and borderline talking to the characters😂
I like Fallout but I'm still not choosing it over Ghost Protocol. Nothing will top that skyscraper scene and Jeremy Renner is irreplaceable.
The raid is such a good movie and yes the fight scenes are really good but it does honestly have a really good story to balance out all the violence. One of my favourite films ever.
Simple but enough plot is one of the best thing from The Raid. Tbh The Raid franchise wont be that succesful if the story is getting more complicated than The Raid 2. Its also one of the reason why Gareth Evans wont continue to do The Raid 3 anymore.
Story, its in raid 2
The raid is one of if not the greatest action movie of all time no Hollywood movie has come close to this in terms action scenes.
John Wick and The Raid deserve the praise they've earned, but I wish more women learned from the well Choreographed Stairwell Action scene from Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron.
It might have been a sequence but the movie wasn't very good or entertaining overall IMO. I'm surprised Bad Boys 2 didn't get a mention!
John Wick 3 Hallie Berry scene, there you go, Sofia spin off please 👀
watch the Villainess, that movie is an example of a good action movie with a female lead. that movie can make you cry more than twice.
they already have, maybe should add a new franchise to make a trio called Bourne
I agree 1000% and I don’t think Scott pilgrim should even be on this list. That’s so silly to me that they think it could ever compare to those
As an Indonesian, I am really happy “The Raid” gets the recognition it deserves 😁. I remember watching it 2 times in the same day on theatre!

Edge of Tomorrow was a great action film.
YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE RAID 1 AND 2!! Even Samuel L. Jackson said that The Raid is one of his favorite action movies! Well he's got a good taste. The fighting scenes were so tensed that it felt like it was me who was fighting for my dear life! Fast movements make the fights look so real!
I'm so glad the Raid ranked so high. Best action movies in recent years. There's another Indonesian film that's called The Night Comes For Us and it's just as gritty. I'm also upset that Dredd didn't make it on this list. It was super good too
"Unstoppable" (2010) is still such an awesome action movie. Had me on the edge of my seat first time I saw it.
the fuq. not an action movie lol
As a indonesian people we are very proud the raid is become one of the greatest action movie, hopefully we can make it again and actors from indonesia can be more apprreciated in hollywood

Both Raid are action movie masterpieces. My top 2 favorite action movies of all time. That being said this list is missing 2 movies that are better than probably half of the movies on this list: The Night Comes for Us and The Man from Nowhere, two great action movies.
The raid 2 is better than the first imo
@@jamesmcdonald7292 yup
The night comes for us was amazing but, the Man from nowhere was ok. Goemon along with blade of the immortals and the swordsmen should be on that list
Mirzapur is superb
Casino Royale should be on here. The foot chase and airport sequences were spectacular.
‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is one of the best damn movie reboots ever made.
😁👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Fury Road is the most overrated action movie ever. Stupid movie.
Transformers movies, White House Down, Kingsman, and Mission Impossible 6 are amazing. Fuck MMFR!!
the raid and raid 2 definitely deserves that rank. masterpiece.
The Night Comes For Us should have been on the list. An underrated gem. Any action movie lover HAS to watch this movie.
YEAH I WATCHED IT. ITS REALLY AMAZING SPECIALLY THA LAST FIGHT THAT WAS AWESOME.
the problem is the netflix logo
"Headshot" too
Personally I would add 300 to this list, so many iconic action moments in that movie
The Raid on No. 02 and Mad Max on No. 01. Now I am satisfied. Watchmojo has done justice.
I think The Equalizer needs to be on the list😢
With some of the choices in here such as Baby Driver (which was still good) that shouldn't have been on this list, Tony Jaa had much better movies such as The Protector and Ong Bak that had some great action and fight scenes. I still remember the scene where Jaa went on a rampage and started shattering bones in The Protector.
The long tracking shot scene of him fighting his way up the stairwell in Ong Bak (I think? It's been years) was truly incredible stuff.
Most crappy movie ever made
The Stair scene and Bone breaking fight is still one of my favourites fights of all time.
@@harisankars4365 needs clarification? The guy mentions like three films in his post. Ong Bak, is legit great though. You could toss out MI: Fallout, Ip Man 2, The Expendables, or Baby Driver easy.

Upgrade is severely underrated. I rented it because I had a free rental and I kept it for 3days.
When I saw the raid, I knew you had this list on lock.
Thank you 💯
God I loved Upgrade! I only ever saw one trailer, and I thought it was a dark Comedy going into it leaving with my jaw dropped.
If you're a Fan of action movies you've definitely saw Raid.
John Wick Parabellim really knocked it out of the park with the final battle in the Continental. I can’t wait to see what happens in Chapter 4
🔥
4 was even better. Still the OG first one is my favorite tho but I can see how people say 4 is the best.
I've always told people that Furious is way better than the rest when it comes to action but they didn't listen and I refuse to believe that The Raid Redemption isn't at number 1, that's arguably one of the best choreographed movies out there, then you have Ong Bak or The Protector with Tony Jaa, Iron Monkey seeing that y'all have crouching Tiger on this list and Undisputed was awesome too
Mad Max Fury Road is the movie that shows how to make an action properly with great character work, wide shots and less of quick cut editing action sequences. Easily one of the best action movies of the century, top 3
Mad max got a lot of cuts ,like a lot,but the way they done it is so smooth, not shaky,The editor did a magnificent Job.

MMFR is not perfect. Being number one is disgraceful. Movie is overrated garbage.
Number one action movie of all time should’ve definitely been Rambo.
The Villianess should've been on this list, it's an amazing South Korean movie with non stop action
The raid is still the best so far. You have to watch it
I loved the the entries. especially Edge of Tomorrow, it is extremely underrated.
Edge of Tomorrow is kinda movie that you won’t get bored of, no matter how many times you watch it
I think Edge of Tomorrow was surprisingly good for those who went to see it, and I agree, it doesn't get quite the attention it deserves. I loved that they didn't take it too seriously.
Great list.
Expendables 2 was fun too.
I watched all of them and some of them really my all time favourite And every movie is too good in its own ways to tell story through action sequences and love, emotion, happiness, sadness...but mostly over the top and breath taking scenes.
Awesome video man :)
This list is so diverse and i really like that and respect it
The Raid! Hell yeah! Watch mojo did one right for once!
Tony jaa's ongbak and the protector (tom yun joong) deserves to be on the list or honorable mention

Except Oldboy. Great movie, but I ain't gonna rewatch it any time soon.
The raid is my #1 pick. Mad max was ok. I don't even remember most of it & I watched it twice
Great pick 4 this video
no wonder low budget films like "The Raid" can be compared to other well-known Hollywood action films such as John Wick
Even in John Wick 3. John Wick has to defeat the 2 main villains from The Raid 1 & 2
If the list is about ACTION MOVIES, then The Raid should be no 1...literally non-stop action in the whole movie
No one beat "The raid and The raid 2"💥
How could you miss The Man From Nowhere. One of the sickest, and most beautiful choreographed martial arts action movies ever. A must see for any action fan.
That sure was some good action movies. I loved the Kingsman, Taken, the Bourne, Mission Impossible so much. I need to watch Kill Bill again. Mad Max was alright. Thanks 👍

The raid is the best action movie ever. It’s better then John Wick the fight are so cool and epic! It’s also impressive that it’s made in Indonesia and how good the quality of the movie is made.
Kingsman doesn't get the respect it deserves...it better be in here
The Raid 1 and 2 are top tier 👌
The Raid was such a good film I’m still mad it didn’t finish part 3
Raid 2, John wick and MadMax are all time favourite movies...along with Nobody,IP man,007
Sorry, but this is the one negative comment about The Raid, I didn't like it at all! There were tons of unnecessary artificial camera shake, even in the scenes that didn't need any. Violence without any reason. It felt like an empty movie with no substance. We didn't get to know the characters, so we can feel for them. They just died, like every death in the movie was meaningless. I was extremely bored, but my friends were watching it with me, so I couldn't shut it off. One of my friends mentioned that he got dizzy due to the excessive artificial camera shake. The Raid's placement on the list higher than all of these amazing movies is insane.
Seriously, all I want is to see the next KINGSMAN being directed by EDGAR WRIGHT

However, Snowpiercer came out in 2014.
Didn’t care that much for Snowpiercer unfortunately.
Top 2 best best movies from 2013 are Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down.
Also, Kingsman was the best action movie of 2015. Fury Road sucks.
Nevertheless, you still got good choices.
Although From 2006, Mission Impossible 3 was the best with Action.
Casino Royale is eh. Still better than Fury Road.
@@MaxNeugebauer. I disagree with you on your last two points. There were not very many great action movies in 2013 and Fury Road doesn't suck. Mission: Impossible 3 is good, but nothing amazing.

I think Mission Impossible 3 was the best till Fallout came out.
Nevertheless, Mission Impossible franchise is one of the those franchises where not one movie is bad. I think at least.
I think Mission Impossible 2 is the one that people aren’t fans of.
2013 has Iron Man 3 and Pacific Rim. Those are great.
Both White House attack films amazed the shit out of me. I know a lot of people who love em as well.
Also, I just noticed you also said you don’t know about 2001.
Black Hawk Down, now that’s amazing cinema right there. Plus, it’s my favorite Ridley Scott movie.
I love the John Wick films but the first should've been the entry
I feel some reasons why Mad Max Fury Road will always take the title as best action film is its generally simple plot, not requiring you to watch the previous 3 films for any background besides the origins of Max (not really important), most stunts done without CGI (including the "Witness Me" scene, people eaters limo explosion and multiple crashes) just removing any safety equipment or stunt drivers), the action isn't over the top like Fast 9, a fair amount of explosion unlike some action films that have a blinding amount and really only lacking a edge of your seat scene but with such a simple idea of a continuous chase, there isn't much that can be chair gripping.

Man I feel sad for myself. I came here in search of a good movie to watch but I have watched all these movies
Nobody is way better than Taken and deserves a spot on here for sure. 21 Jump Street is more of a comedy with action sequences. You guys seem to love this film too much because it makes damn near every best of 21st century list you make. Free Guy is also more of a comedy/fantasy/Sci-fi/adventure with action sequences.
I don't consider neither 21 Jump Street, Hot Fuzz, Edge Of Tomorrow or Free Guy an action film while Edge Of Tomorrow is more of an action film than the other three, it feels more Sci-fi comedy.
The original Bourne trilogy is as perfect as a trilogy can be. That and the Matt Reeves Planet Of The Apes trilogy just might be the best trilogies of all time.
How tf do you guys think Furious 7 is better than Fast Five ? Again if Paul Walker didn't pass away Furious 7 wouldn't even be memorable. It's fun but it's nothing compared to Fast Five which the franchise has never surpassed since.
Also Casino Royale is way better than Skyfall. Without Javier Bardem and Judi Denches characters death, it's not even close to being better.
John Wick 3 over John Wick or even John Wick 2 ?! You can't be serious! Wow this list is terrible as per usual the case with watchmojo. It's the fact you say best. If you said favorites since your staff is the only one voting for this, I'd be more forgiving but you said best and chose John Wick 3, Furious 7, 21 Jump Street and Free Guy ? Wtf!!!
Finally no Dark Knight on the best of 21st century action films, that loses instant credibility
John wick 4 is the best for me. Who’s with me

Kingsman deserves way higher than just rank 20
Upgrade is such a great movie. Action packed and great story. Must Watch!
‘Furious 7’, one of the 3 best in the entire ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise.

Hey hey,,,enjoyed that,,good one. Hardcore Henry,, I think is the title. Refreshing action flick. Thanks from Brooklyn, yo.
I'm confused as to why Atomic Blonde wasn't on the list.
Because IMO it wasn't an entertaining movie. It may have had some good action sequences, but I personally didn't enjoy it. Maybe there are more people out there who share that opinion.
Yup, 21 Jump Street, Free Guy and Hot Fuzz are on this list. Not exactly what I'd consider action movies... but okay.
Anyway, it's good to see lesser known titles like Upgrade and Old Boy haven't been forgotten.
The Raid is soo good that it made me back into action genre and also hate most of hollywood action stuffs i've watched before. Both movies are also become an inspiration for some big action stuffs like John wick, Winter Soldier, and Deadpool. Too bad the western decides to try remake The Raid and Michael Bay is working in the remake project
